10:15 Thank you so much! I've been using Apple Motion for two years and I never knew this. I always struggled with it, so this is a huge help. You're my hero!
Thank you for this, awesome video! If I ever need to put these effects that I created on another Mac, or wipe down my current Mac and reinstall everything, how does one back these up, then reimport them into Final Cut Pro?
Something that might be easy to overlook for anyone coming from any other software like After Effects: this whole thing was realtime, no pre-rendering, waiting for a frame to update (or frames progress bar on top of the timeline), skimming and moving and animating is a breeze, almost nothing chugs for the most part even on quite complex projects (minus DoF and Motion Blur high settings). Happy to see this channel is exploding, the second 10K chunk seems to have happened at a fraction of the time of the first 10K hope it continues on like this. Thanks for such an approachable to tutorial.
I think this is the year I start learning Apple Motion. I kind of have FCP down pat, and want to really up my game on motion graphics. This playlist is the PERFECT way to get going!
Gonna explore your other tutorials. I liked the pace and detail of this video. I'm a bit on the challenged side; but that's why we can pause or slow down the video/audio. This video accomplished the basics of everything I need to know, to get started using motion.
Thanks, that was nice and easy to follow. I started a channel recently and so have been learning how to edit in Final Cut. Now I've got a decent grasp of the basics I'm super excited about getting stuck into Motion and really honing in on a visual style that's my own rather than relying on stock stuff. That list at 5:49 oooooh the creative possibilities...! Subscribed x
Thanks! I made the rectangle and follow along a bit, and then I branched off and freestyled and was able to make what I wanted to !! I needed to make a scoreboard for my tennis channel, thanks for the help!!
Hey, I made it on your list in the description! Thanks for the Motion refresher! I did my first ever project awhile back and have been wanting to get back into it but I had already forgotten what little I knew!
Awwww yeahhhh!! Your name also shows up in the last two videos before this one! Appreciate your support 👊 Hopefully you can make the Motion 5 livestream on august 1st!
You did a really good job with this video. I just started learning Final Cut Pro and Motion and have been watching videos from other content creators, but your was very well done, to the point and at just right the speed that made it easy for me to learn.
I know I'm late to the party since you made this vid over a year ago, but I simply had to comment. I have been designing and developing for the web for over 2 decades. I have ALWAYS wanted to create my own motion graphics without having to rely on other people's assets. But I could never wrap my mind around keyframing. This is literally THE only tutorial that has ever made sense of it for me. Thank you so much!!! 💜
I’ve been studying through my Final Cut and Motion user guides and I came across your video and it helped me so much that I can now do animations and I’m getting really used to using Motion since I just recently bought it for my Mac back in November. I’m currently learning to get into filming and editing since I run a 2nd RUclips Channel for my adventures and documentaries.
CHANGING THE ANCHOR POINT, I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT. I was making a highlight animation a few weeks ago and trying to make it appear left to write was awful (I made a bunch of really big rectangle masks), I didn't think about shifting the anchor point, your brain is massive
Really helpful video, those markers for the optional build in and out are what I was missing in my animations when I wanted to extend them without affecting the animation speed, thank you!
Dylan this is fantastic! I'm a bit confused with the background though. My button appeared in the middle of the screen once published in Final Cut Pro. How do I know where I'm working in relation to background?
Thanks for the no nonsense lesson. Speaking of buttons, how might I give a rounded button a 3D look? The Bevel Filter seems to square off the corners for some reason.

I have been trying to understand Motion but nobody explains it like you so thank you Dylan.
dude these tutorials amaze me and make me laugh. it's too cool with all the things you can do.
Marvellous job, Dylan. Within 20 mins of downloading the thing, I was away. Thanks.
Really appreciate all the work you put into these tutorials, they've helped me out a ton. cheers :)

Motion 5 is incredibly powerful. Recently finished up a job for a client and your videos helped.
This is so easy to understand! You explain apple motion so well! Thank you!
I’m so glad you’re here :) you give me faith that apple can keep up with Adobe and therefore I can :) this is such an easy “get started” video.
Nice explanation Brother 🤗🤗

I appreciate the zooms on the selected tools and adjustments. It helps to see what is being done.
Thank you so much, I just got motion today and followed your tutorial with no problems!

Can you put sound on something in Apple motion?
Brilliant🤙🏾
