    I wish these two programs talked to each other better. It's really handy to have the "open in motion" dropdown for effects and titles. Would it be so hard for apple to do the same with footage?

    This tutorial is SO useful to me because I annotate many of my images for my classes and my workflow to date has been, well, messy. Thank you so much for this really useful tutorial and, of course, Scotland loves you!

    Bummer that Apple removed true round tripping from FCP7 in FCPX.

    Very helpful - but this process is a "train wreck" compared moving from Lightroom to Photoshop and back. Thanks and keep the great content coming!

      I'm not familiar with FCP 7, so I'm curious, was it something like Premiere to After Effects?

      @@bamrainey It was very cool. Send a clip to motion, do some work on it, save and there'd be a .motn file on the FCP timeline. Open that up in motion again to make changes to it. Save and close to go back to FCP. Worked with Apple's sound editor "Soundtrack" too. Soundtrack had good noise removal tools.

    I have a brand mew laptop with a lot of memory and storage. But when i use apple motion it slows down during playback. Even when i export it and send it to final cut pro. What should i do?

  • @british31
    @british31 Год назад +1

    This has been a pet peeve of mine ever since they relaunched FCP along with compressor and Motion. You can send directly to compressor but not motion and then back again. Something Adobe does quite well with PP and AE and back again. Why doesn't apple do the same thing with Motion? Should not be a $99 plugin! But it is what it is. Thanks for the tip and now a quicker way to send to Motion.

    Dylan! So incredibly helpful. This gives step by step evidence that will help users utilize the under-rated motion tool far more since it's nice and easy.
    Dylan PLEASE tell us aspiring RUclipsrs where you learn how to master RUclips as a platform like you're doing. Did you take a course? Are you a part of a program? Any books? Thanks!

    Hey Dylan. Hope you don't mind the odd question from a stranger. I'm a long time user of fcpx and motion so am way beyond first principles if it helps. So.... custom titles and effects in motion... has anyone cracked how to get the effect to update on the fcpx timeline if changes are made in motion? I can't find anything about it online, and I keep getting bounced to forums for hobbyists. Is there a workflow for this or am I wishfully thinking of an unsupported feature?

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  3 месяца назад

      So this will be dependent on if it's the addition of an effect, or just changing the settings of an effect. If you are changing an effects settings, the changes won't show up. The settings will just stay at whatever level they were set to previously. But if you are adding an effect that's completely new, those changes will show up if you either re-apply the effect, or if you restart FCP.
      Hopefully I am understanding your questions properly, and this helps somewhat!

      @@TheFinalCutBro Cheers. I'm making custom effects for our webinar series, effectively drag and drop layout tools. I would like for changes in the motion file for the custom effect beit position, scale, additional bits etc to update on the timeline so I dont have to re-apply the effect. I have clients who will comment way after the fact and the volume of output would benefit from a dynamic link between motion and the fcpx timeline. Is this possible? Trying to find any indication on line is drawing blanks and my own testing is coming up negative. Wanted to check with another experienced user.

    Hi Dylan, I have a Motion 5 question for you: I have a 3D object. What I want to do is create a motion project that I can WRAP AROUND the 3D object's side (which is white, flat, but also circular... it's a mug). Is this possible? I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this. I can't even get the image to wrap around the mug's side. HELP, BRO!!!

    As convenient as renaming the v2 is as v1, I tend to keep them separate in case I want to roll back. But to think I would do the red line effect by animating a mask 🫠

  • @dinomutttube

    You left out the most important part about exporting from Motion to Final Cut if you want to do a workaround "dynamic linking" so you can make changes to something on the FCP timeline in Motion without export/replace. When you import the file into Final Cut, you need to make sure that you have "leave files in place" selected. If you don't, the file you're trying to replace will be in the Final Cut library storage and will not replace the media on the timeline.

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  Год назад

      Totally hadn’t even thought about that! I haven’t turned off leave files in place in years, so it didn’t even occur to me that would be an issue. Thanks for sharing!
