    ABSOLUTELY THE BEST VIDEO ON THE TOPIC! I've watched 4 videos on the Tesla/EV rental subject; yours is the best! By comparison, your video lacks the polish, drama, and fluff, but the content is OUTSTANDING.
    You gave the tails that matter and did the RIGHT math. You even explained how your credit card is utilized; I imagine that A LOT of drivers don't have significant credit limits and may need more oom on their cards for the initial charge. The way Uber presents it, I thought they just billed Uber directly from day one, but that isn't the case. I drive my own tesla for Uber as part time. My advice is to buy than rent. You can drive this M3 for upto 1 million miles compared to gas car that only lasted for 350,000 miles. Paying $400 a week, that is $1,200 a month. Monthly payment for Tesla is only $900 a month. Do the math.

      It's smarter in theory but not everyone can qualify to purchase a Tesla for $60k so the option to rent is much easier and within reach. Plus just return it when done. I would have been disappointed if I purchased a Tesla. I much prefer the BMW.

    I bought a Hyundai hybrid which got 58 mpg, generally a bit more than that i.e. 62 mpg. It's an Uber X, so you'll not be getting rich on the cents per mile rate, but a 250 mile day would need just 4.31 gallons X $5.50/gal. = $23.7 (That is a current price but when I drove gas cost far less, like $3.30 so that would've been 4.31/gal. X $3.30/gal = $14.2 in gas per 8 hr. shift, on average. That car cost $22,300 new in 2019. A Tesla is twice that amount @ $45k for the base model. Also, factor in the half hour down time to recharge the battery. So, a good hybrid is still an excellent Uber car, in fact, Lyft bought 20 of them. I know because I met the guy that had just delivered them to Lyft, he was one of my Uber passengers. The thing is 250 miles X 5 days = 1250 miles, or 5,000/month, which means in ten months at 50k you need to but a set of tires at $600 or so. 10 oil changes = $380. Add on Rideshare rider insurance. Add on people staining your seats. Essentially your car is getting thrashed. IMO, not worth the 58 to 78 cents per mile you'll be making. Tips? Hardly ever! Consider that after extensive study the IRS says the standard mileage rate is 58.5 cents/mile. IMO, Uber isn't or is barely making it worthwhile, in fact, you're just spinning your wheels. Your capital investment is just losing value everyday. At the airport, taxis charge $ 3.10, plus a base fee of $ 2.97, then a per mile (¢.30 cents every 1/9 mile) ; ¢ .33, Per 37 Secs (Only if in traffic or cab waiting) ; $ 32.11, Per Hour . Uber just pays crap! I hope you don't trash your own car for almost nothing in true compensation.

    • @CorneliusHardyMedia
      @CorneliusHardyMedia  Год назад

      If you can afford to buy a hybrid go for it. When I made this post uber rates were a little different so it was more worth it than it is now. It may still be worth it for some depending on how much they make per week. Some people can't go out and buy a new car or they can't qualify for a loan, so the tesla rental option is great for people who need a car for a day to day and also for work.

As far as write-offs I own more businesses than just doing Uber. I can and will write off the rental expenses. It's a business expense. Any time I travel, car rental, plane, even gas for my own car is able to be written off. Most people miss out on a lot of things that can actually be written off. What they do is hold the 334 (plus taxes) from your account weekly, then release it back to your account sometime that same week. But you’ll have to pay for the whole month at the end of the month (2k). That’s too much. No one is going to just sit there and watch 2k leave their accounts just like that every month. Question: when renting a Tesla from Uber, is it true that you can only use it on Uber’s platform and not Lyft’s or any other platform, for that matter?

    • @CorneliusHardyMedia
      @CorneliusHardyMedia  Год назад

      I believe so because it's automatically added to your Uber profile at Hertz when you rent it. You can't use random rental cars for rideshare which is what you would be doing trying to use it for lyft. I used mine for Uber and also for a different gig unrelated to rideshare so it wasn't a issue.

      @@CorneliusHardyMedia, I hear you. I just find that to be interestingly odd, considering the fact that I’ve given them my money to use the vehicle. But not only do they take my money for the vehicle, but they still have the audacity to want to have a right to tell me how I go about using it. It just comes off as a bit too trifling to me. That shouldn’t be a way to go about doing business. As long as a platform is legit, and I use it for a fair share amount of trips for Uber, I should be able to use a car I’m spending so much money a week for to do anything legitimate with. I think I’ll stick to my own vehicle, along with HyreCar. Thanks for the advice, though, my mans. Stay up!!!

    New to this so heres the deal , Im a true uber and lyft driver !!! I decided to rent a Tesla model three I was to under the impression that it wasn’t going to be more than $334 a week that was a lie adding the $75 insurance plus the hidden fees plus the charging which for five weeks was round up to $600 my statement was $2490 basically having to work seven days a week with the first 2 to 3 days going towards the payment and the rest was mine I did make a little bit of money managed to barely pay my bills then decided it was not for me paid the 2490.34 then Tried to get a loan for a Tesla model three unfortunately Uber is not considered income through the banks so my loan request was denied !! The car was great I loved it customers loved it I got tipped very well driving it but it felt like most of my earnings was going to pay for this Tesla for a rental company instead of myself when they break it down to you they make it seem like you’ll be able to afford to pay for the rental and get the car on demand and make money but when you look at the big picture you’re almost paying $3000 a month to drive a Tesla that will never be yours helping the rental company pay off for their car and make profit while you slave away 50 6070 hours a week totally not worth it at least in my city of Orlando so I decided to go to good old faithful Toyota dealership where already had went thru 4 leases and one purchase and bought a new 2022 toyota camry with payments of 623 a month , knowing what I know now , i sure miss the tesla , but i can double my payments on my new camry and pay 311 a week and pay off my camry fast and not have to work 7 days a week

      You definitely have to do your math. I didn't get the extra $70 which is optional. Even when I rent a car outside of Uber I never get the extra insurance coverage. Without the $70 my total a week is $370.76. Not including charging, that's $1483.04 a month. Charging in my case is about $13 a day so $91 a week. Nowadays it's even less but let's just keep it at $91. At the moment my car is gone so this car is saving my a**. I'm buying another bmw but don't plan on using it for Uber. Even if you purchased another car, you are still putting a lot of miles, wear and tear on your own car. I used to didn't care but now that I'm using someone else's car, I orefer it this way. A tesla batter is supposed to last at least 7 years. I doubt they calculated that with rideshare mileage. That's a normal person doing normal driving. I think the battery will die faster over time especially supercharging it everyday. I wouldn't want my brand new car going through this. I've already been thinking about when I get my other car, if I give this one back I'll probably just quit doing Uber or maybe do like once a week or something.

But you’ll have to pay for the whole month at the end of the month (2k). That’s too much. No one is going to just sit there and watch 2k leave their accounts just like that every month. You cannot just keep this Tesla at those rates if your not driving. You must complete 30 trips per week for Uber with the Tesla or you will need to pay the standard Hertz rate and it’s a lot more. Now I have heard that there could be reasons that one would need to buy the Hertz optional insurance. For one, the Uber deductible is $1000. And what if a passenger scuffs up or tears the leather? And as for the charging, if one can do overnight charging with a 24+ mile per hour home station that’s great; but having to go to Super Charger stations without an Extended Range model 3 could be something quite inconvenient. Especially since I am hearing those spots are starting to be filled up during the day. Lastly, until Uber allows one to use the class filter to select “Comfort” only I’m not as interested. Some things to keep in mind as I too considered this.

    • @CorneliusHardyMedia
      @CorneliusHardyMedia  Год назад +1

      30 trips is only about 5 trips a day. There is nothing in the agreement that says you pay a higher rate if you don't complete 30 trips though. In my experience they don't even check the entire car anyway. They do a walk around and looks for dents and dings and that's really about it. The interior is expected to get normal wear and tear with people getting in and out. However I always return with no issues. I'm anal about cleaning and inspecting everyday. Charging stations are inconvenient but not because they are full. Only because I have to stop before I head home for the night in order to get those lower rates.

Do you recommend someone who is trying to make ALOT of extra money like myself to rent the Tesla for Uber? I'm currently driving 6 or 7 hours overnight at least 5 days a week and I'm spending about $45 per day on gas. I was thinking of starting an LLC and buying a Tesla through my business. I drive in the Chicago area. Any advice would be appreciated!

    • @CorneliusHardyMedia
      @CorneliusHardyMedia  2 года назад +1

      Correct. $330 per week. $370 after taxes. About $13 per day at a supercharger that is $0.37kwh. If you want the extra insurance it's $70 per week. I skipped it.
      In order to rent. Figure out what you make a week driving overnight. If your making $1k+ then whats $370 and a break on your own car. If you only make like $400 a week than it's not a smart move.
      If you can do the llc, that's even better because you don't care about the miles and minimal expenses. I just didn't want to do it to my own brand new car. I'm actually returning the tesla tomorrow and paying my bill after 2 months. Just got another car and don't want to use it much for Uber so my future driving will be minimal.
