- Episode 587. I've been talking with you about AP Cask Strength Rye before Jim Murray made them famous. Is this a good release? Well, yes! Does it beat the batch 1 ... not for me, but some of that must be nostalgia. This is a balanced, bold, full Rye and I certainly recommend picking it up!

still to this day my fav rye of all time!
Nice!
Anyone in Ontario, Batch 4 is on sale for $20 off at LCBO at the moment ($65).
I only have 2 & 4, but I enjoy both very much. #2 is the 66%-er, a bruiser indeed. Having sat open now for quite a while, I find it less hot than when first tried. Never got a chance to try Batch 1, it got famous and was gone in a twinkling. Ah well, c'est la vie...
Yeah, this stuff 'll fry your tongue for sure 😛, and it's still one of THE best whiskies on my shelves.
Tiny sips, slow addition of H2o over an evening...not one to be rushed. A little goes a long way.
Sounds as though #5 is another winner.
My world is slightly askew. A Monday review?
Cheers Jon! 🥃🥃

I just got back from picking up our daughter in Winnipeg. 28 hours in the car in three days. Thought it might call for a whisky before work tomorrow! Indeed, a little goes a long way, cheers!
@@WhiskyNeighbour Oh man, that is one heck of a LOT of driving. Don't blame you for cracking out the big guns for your evening dram tonight!
So far the 3rd is my fave! Hubs loves the 4th!
This leans to batch 4 I think
Terrific thoughts Jon! I don’t have the fifth release yet of this terrific Rye! I am training for a marathon I run every year - BMO Vancouver Marathon - so I’m not having any alcohol until I have run the beast!! I’m a bit of a health nut! I might get the 5th edition! To be honest we have so much scotch and I don’t drink much - couple of times a week - dram or two! - so my husband and I have been buying less lately! Terrific thoughts! I will get the latest Lagavulin 11 - Offerman! I always have time for Lagavulin for a Sean here and there! Fave distillery! Cheers!
I will no doubt pick that up too. I loved the last Offerman. So awesome you are training and will run a marathon. So cool. Certainly deserves a good dram maybe the day after?!
There's a bottle of that just down the road from where I live in Houston, not sure which batch, but it's been collecting dust on the shelf at this store for at least a year. You've convinced me I need to pick it up ASAP, hopefully by this coming Saturday. Thanks, Jon!
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Batch 2 is hot. Well, they are all a little hot, but that one seemed more than most. Cheers!
Who doesn't love a 100% rye!!!
I know I do!
Batch 1 remains #1. There is something magical and so special about it. I have about the same amount of Batch 1 left as you do and am milking it. It will be a sad day when it is done. Thanks for the review, Jon.
Agreed, it really was good. Thanks for sharing your experience, cheers!
Welcome back, Jon! These are always great ryes. Nearing the end of a bottle of batch 2 so I'll look for another soon. Cheers!
I hope these continue to show up in many markets. Sweet and Spicy!
I love how every bottle I’m looking at, you review. Thank you 🙏
That is the hope, to share thoughts on whisky people are thinking about. Cheers!
Please do a review of the Joseph Magnus cigar blend if you can find it. I haven’t been able to find it here in Alberta, but the peerless looks close.
@@StayBlessed69 Great idea. I have not seen it around, but I will keep an eye out!
65%! That's molotov cocktail territory !
Yep, but full of flavour!
Get ready, it is £148 or $254.69 Canadian here in the UK, ouch ! Our batch here is 75cl / 63.7% ABV.
that pice is insane. Also, the ABV indicates it's batch 3. But wow!
Love the AP CS. Had a few drams with a pal last year around Canada Day. Full and flavourful all the way. Great comparison Jon. Hope you had a great trip bud. Cheers.
Glad you've had a dram. It's a big, but I agree, flavourful. Trip was long, but good to do as a family. Cheers!
I can't get Alberta Premium cast strength in my local market. Just curious how does that batch 5 cinnamon flavor compare to two of my favorite ryes that to me are fantastic cinnamon bombs- redwood empire rye or Pikesville 110 proof straight rye? I guess the more direct comp is pikesville given the proof. Cheers, Jon! Been a fan of your channel for a couple years now.
I think Pikesville has more oak notes and a richness to it that is not matched here. This, of course, has more heat and a little more sugar sweetness. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Great review
Thanks!

Cheers indeed!
