  • Metal detecting can be a very complex hobby, to get the most out of your metal detector you must understand the settings and the best places to look for treasure.
    In this video, Gary visits the Hayling Detect metal detecting club and talks about how to approach a new field that has never been metal detected before, along with top tips and useful information.

    I love it when I can get into a virgin forest that hasn't been bothered in 300-400 years and has no trash, and spend 30-40 minutes with no signals while using reactivity of 0-1.5. When you finally get a target in those conditions and enjoy the solitude and untouched nature all around you and start to open the ground, it's such a great feeling, especially when those 300-600 year old coins start popping up and you get to think about who dropped it, why they were there, what they were wearing, where did they come from and where were they going to, etc. It's adventures like this that make using the XP DEUS II so wonderful. Needless to say, I had a fantastic Christmas and New Year holiday digging every day in the untouched forest. Thanks for your videos, Gary.

    Thanks for ideas Gary! I am working just like that. Change reactivity and also Audio Respons. Like to search with highest AR and when I get a target, try it with lower AR. Like it a lot.
    Also toggle between Gen-Mono-SensFT to get a better picture of the target. Works for the moment anyhow! 🙏

    Hey Gary🙋🏻‍♂️, well you certainly made a difference to my digs with this vid, I’ve been struggling for a couple of Mths ( since the last upgrade? ) and dropping the reactivity down to 1 from 2.5 has made a huge improvement …. It’s like the machine is performing like the Deus 1 was with the HF white coil… banging it out, I thank you for sharing your knowledge , all the best, Garry ( with 2 R’s ) 🙏😎

    Like the Indian hat, I'm about an hour from the museum. We are in snow season up here until late March or early April, so I enjoy these videos Gary. All our fields have gone back to forest, but they have some good coins and relics from the 1700s ...... Those would be "new "items" for you guys I guess!! Thanks again.

    Hi mate. Difficult conditions there. You have to examine those lower numbers I always do especially on our ancient sites, and that small lead had to be investigated. That 0 reactivity just goes to show on the rite field try it, don't be afraid to drop. Informative video mate. 👍

    High water table tends to disperse the iron halos, making the ground more quiet than when it's dry. Reactivity of 0.5 and Sensitivity of 98 are normal for me. Good vid!

  • @DetectDigSmile

    That is a dead quiet site. Now that hole is water logged. You have high and low days for sure, but the best part is you get to go out. Hi Gary. Quick question please around custom programming. I have the full D2 and usually use it as full. Iv got a custom program I use that Iv changed tones tone breaks etc… when I use it as the master without the remote that programe isn’t saved to the ws6 so I can’t use it. Can it be copied across or is it not possible? It did need expert mode changes on the remote. Thankyou 🤞🏻

    • @The-skillschool
      @The-skillschool  4 месяца назад

      With the D2 you need to input the RC custom programs to the WS6 separately.
      Yes you can access tone breaks with the WS6.
      I think I have an online video on it somewhere.

I’m off to a WW2 site or two with Op Nightingale so Pentico Woods where Easy Co, 101st trained 😊 I found a cricket clicker that sparked so much interest that it’d be amazing to match that for the archaeologists that I’ll be with. Hi there. I’ve recently charged up my ‘deus xr’ detector. But my head ‘ws5’ headphone won’t connect to my coil for some reason? There’s a symbol of the coil in the top right, but not a symbol next to it. Which I think is the radio link? Any idea’s on how I can fix this? I’ve tried putting in my part number and nothing happens

    • @The-skillschool

      Check serial number, sometimes an 8 is a B, D is an 0 and so on.

    • @matthewgray8416
      @matthewgray8416 4 месяца назад

      I’ve triple checked. The numbers I’ve put in are correct! It also has two battery symbols. One is full 3 bars, the other is empty. The coil is charged as it stays lit for 5 seconds then goes off. My headphones have been charging for 1 hour so they can’t be dead. I’m really baffled because when I google ‘radio link with coil not working’ there’s no forums. Really sorry to bother you
