Yep that little flutter on the first target was the telltale for deep iron. As you know, it gives a high tone because of the iron halo effect - the "ring" of mineralization particles from the rusting. Great tips! I love your sonar program 😁👍
I always love your videos Gary, they are always informative and nicely presented. I also like your style of presenting - nice and gentle😀. Sonar program for me on Sunday I think with the X35 coil running at top frequency, see what happens🤣
@@The-skillschool I tried the sonar program and compared it against the HOT program then my favourite, the ULTIMATE program. Sadly it didn't hold a candle to either but I can see how it would be useful in iron infested sites. I'll keep it though.
Really enjoy your videos Gary....watched a lot of them and didn’t even own a Deus....motivated me to buy one.....took it out last weekend for the first time and about the third target was a Henry Viii hammered penny....only my 2nd hammered. Keep up the great work!
I like to use Sonar now and again, my favourite fast program is Hot but Sonar makes a really nice change sometimes. Thanks for the video Gary mate. ATB MMMD
Nice video Gary and glad you chose the right path to find that Hammered. Never knew there was a Sonar Mode as I do really well with HOT and use DEEP to Iron check! Might have to to try out on my next adventure whenever that is
It's always emotional Gary, another great video, I noticed that sonar is very similar to ultimate, still a nice program though, I have a field that will suit it perfectly
Sonar is a great program, brilliant sound when a target is found. No reels finds today but it’s a program I will use on a regular basis, I have faith in it 👍🏼 thank you.
I like your style. I wondered, I thought you could toss a frisbee in almost any GB plowed field and find lots of ancient stuff, pottery, coins etc but your fields seem real challenges:) Cheers, Rik Spector
I'm the newbie XP user...... I enjoy your videos and am subscribed. I haven't been able to decipher the deep targets very well. Wondering if I have the gain too high. I would like to know how to get the deep signals to give me a lighter tone, or weaker tone and think I don't understand the settings like I would like to.....
I’m a bit of a fan of full tones ( apart from with the Deep programme) and use the deus lite version... any reason you don’t use full tones with your Sonar programme? Good vid btw!
gardansolyn good point - thanks Gary - I tend to use full tones on most settings as without the box I don’t have as easy access to lines and numbers... I do like just relying on the audio though ... stay lucky!
Hi there, I just got a second hand deus with hf coil and hs4 coil. I have just set up your sonar program. I have been been detecting for a few years but literally got my deus 2 hours ago. I have been using a legend and I do like it but just keep having the feeling I'm missing as much as I find. Anyway, just set up sonar and it comes up with a cross screen, I take it that is x and y screen. Does this program not have the horse shoe screen? Probably a stupit question but I don't have the instructions. Any good tips for me would be appreciated, should I get the Andy sibiach book? I will be watching your vids a lot for a while so I'm sure I'll pick it up. Just to say your very good at explaining things in a way I can understand pretty well so cheers bud! I'm in Cornwall by the way. Got my first hammered coins recently after 4 years detecting but really hoping for a Roman soon.
Thanks Andy and congratulations on your new purchase. The horseshoe ferrous and non ferrous feature will not work with the Sonar program, but target ID will. Most prefer the XY
@@The-skillschool thanks Gary, the coil light is flashing blue, will that continue untill the battery is disconnected? Will this cause the battery to discharge if left on?

Had a Charles 1st shilling, silver roman, sword hanger and a gorgeous sceat out with the sonar at the weekend. Love this program. Thanks Gary

Medieval rolled nail that was mate. Great sign, I've had a few from a good medieval site of mine👍

Thanks Powlo, yes the Sonar has a higher tone and faster reactivity.

I found a harness mount on Monday using the sonar program, in conjunction with the xy screen because the ground is full of foil, it did really well.
Thanks Peter, great feedback.👍
Great vid Gary. I found a heart pendant the same as that the other week
They are super rare, only 2 ever found....mine and yours 😁👍
gardansolyn but yours is bigger than mine 🤪
Your hammered I think is Henry III a voided long cross..
Thanks for the video Gary
Thanks for the ID Dermot
A makeshift awl for putting string through bales attatched to a lenth of wood or cane??

It depends on the land Frederick.
Sometimes it's tough, but I like to keep my videos more about the technical aspect rather than the finds.

Audi response my friend keep it around 3 for good depth perception ( XP Deus)
The ORX has no audio response feature.
