    Heilung means healing in German. Groups members are from Norway Denmark and Germany. They speak in several today languages and ancient languages. One member actual shaman lineage. All songs or rituals are based from historical record from pre viking and germanic to post viking age. Their attire and instruments are handmade, using natural materials. Also human bones as intruments and human ashes and blood from members were used in making several things. Thier legendary LIFA show from Castlefest 2017 was the first time they came together and put a show onto the public. Lets says it was almost magical on how everything went and Im not sure theres a show that has came close to it BUT most shows vary as you can sign up to be apart of the show if they come near. They have 4 albums which includes the lifa show, two prior and masculine and feminine ablums. And their new one which Anoana is from. Which means Guardian or spirit of the land and the whole video is based on real legends.

    She met an Aurochs. This video, and the song, is intended to reinforce our sense of connection to nature. So much of human civilization creates this... _illusion_ that we are _not_ part of nature anymore. But, the truth is, _we are animals. We are of Nature._

    The "story" the song tells is of an ancient belief that beings born under a solar eclipse are shamanic spirits, spiritual warriors with great power. That's Anoana, the child with antlers seen in the video (and the name of the child playing her role as well!). We see her grow into her powers, healing nature and speaking with animals. The ending has been interpreted in many different ways. The musk ox in many cultures represent strength, resilience and survival. Her and the ox facing off might be her way of testing her own strength and determination. Or maybe they are joining, and becoming an even stronger being and entering a new stage of existence. Or maybe the ox was old and sick and needed to be put down, because death is as much part of nature as life. Who knows?

    • @ewilliams0608
      @ewilliams0608 Год назад +1

      My interpretation is that the girl is lonely and only gets lonelier as she ages until she decides to end it by challenging the ox. Heilung shamanically shares this fable /lullaby as a lesson on embracing outcasts. Anoana is reborn symbolically (eclipse) when her story is retold this way as well when we heed her lesson by caring for those who are lonely.
      Especially since those outcasts might have hidden talents.

    • @Mariia-wx7xm
      @Mariia-wx7xm Год назад +1

      @@ewilliams0608oh yeah…. I also felt how desperately lonely she was all her life, and it got only worse… also, as for me, the ox definitely killed her in the last second of the video, so she got harm from that only creature she considered as her “soulmate” 🥺 surely the story may be not about this, but this is my own interpretation

  • @aidenharvey3784
    @aidenharvey3784 Год назад +17

    The language they are speaking is called proto-Norse, an early form of the Norse language that the ancient Germanic tribes spoke when they began settling in Scandinavia. Heilung also uses several other languages in their music. For a long time, the language and the culture of proto-Norse tribes were lost, but a few years ago, archeologists discovered ancient coins predating common Norse artifacts. From the coins, they were able to recreate the language and a decent understanding of the proto-Norse culture and how the people lived. The clothes and rituals used in the video are historical recreations of the proto-Norse culture. As for the story that inspired the song, I recommend doing some google searching, anything I say to explain the deep, emotional themes of the story and mythology will simply diminish its beauty.

    • @n0namesowhatblerp362
      @n0namesowhatblerp362 Год назад +3

      Except, the very first germanic language is said to be Gothic, and the gothic people first appeared in Sweden. Gothenburg has its name because of them. I learned this at a german university studying old germanic languages. So, it´s rather that the germanic tribes wandered south. Or that gothic affected the languages somehow. Perhaps scandinavians were sort of pirates for longer than we think. Who knows.

    They sing in multiple languages. The band is Heilung… meaning Healing. This is not a trendy thing. You are in or out. The way they look is ancient. Old Viking times.

    The language is proto-norse. No one knows what the lyrics mean, the text were found on coins in scnadinavia from before the viking age.

    Don't worry abt trying trying to learn the languages they use, as every single one of them (except a little bit of English) is a dead language from the Viking Period. Heilung (hi-loong) is the German word for "healing" and they have truly earned this name with their music.

    I know you're not a fan of Black Metal, but would you mind giving Siebenbürgen - "Ibi cubavit lamia" or "A Dream of Scarlett Night", a chance they're a 90s Swedish Black Metal band with a real Unique Sound. Top 3 favorite bands. If you do check them out make sure to do from the "Topic" channel for the best sound quality.

    The song is about the circle of life, childbirth and the strenght it requires, that it gives, that you need to attack life head on.
    At least thats my takeaway from what I know of the old ways. I am not that versed in the poetic edda
