The song's title can be found in the Mesogothic Anglo-Saxon glossary as "In-Maidjan", which means "deceptively change" or "corrupt". This makes sense since the entire story within the album consists of a peaceful village that is corrupted by having to go to war. Therefore, Proto-Germanic seems to be the language.
Harigasti Teiwa Harigasti Teiwa "is a clear Germanic reference to the Negau helmet. This helmet contains several Etruscan alphabet inscriptions that include the words" Harigasti teiwa which are the first words of the song. This could be translated as Harigast (the priest) although it could also mean, the priest of Teiwaz (Tyr). "Harigast" is often (not always) seen as a personal name and that it could be made up of the words "harjaz" (army, troop, warband, war) and gastiz (stranger, guest). The forms "Hari" and "gast" is particularly found in west-germanic. As such the name could mean "war guest" or "foreign army".
Tawol Athodu - I accept the invitation.
Ek Erilaz - I am a runemaster. The word has been interpreted to mean magician or runemaster. The word is an ablaut variant of count and it is believed that it could be linguistically related to the name of the tribe of the Heruli or Herulos. The Heruli were a Germanic tribe from Scandinavia that was invaded by the Roman Empire in the 3rd century. So it is probably simply an old military title of Germanic provenance.
Owlthuthewaz - owlthu (glorious) thewaz (servant). Means servant of the glorious
Niwaremariz - Priest of the god "Ullr" / famous, renowned. From the proto-Germanic term Wulþuz (glory) wolþu- is possibly a reference to a God, surely the God Ullr.
Saawilagar Hateka - My name is Sawilagaz.
Harja - Army - leader of the army; commander; Warrior
Wuotani Ruoperath Wuotani - Oh, Wodan! Ruoperath - famous and brilliant.
This could be interpreted as the following:
    I, Priest Harigast.
    Aaccept the invitation (to battle)
    I am the Heruli.
I am a renowned priest of Ullr.
    They call me Warrior.
Oh, Wodan the famous and brilliant!
The next chant are the names of the 24 Norse runes of the Elder Futhark. This is also known as runic song.
    Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz,
    Raidho, Kenaz, Gebo, Wunjo,
    Hagal, Naudhiz, Isa, Jera,
    Eihwaz, Perthro, Algiz, Sowelu,
    Tiwaz, Berkano, Ehwaz, Mannaz,
    Laguz, Ingwaz, Dagaz, Othala.
    In English:
    Wealth, Aurochs, Thorn, Divine Breath,
    Travel, Torch, Gift, Joy,
    Hail, Need, Ice, Harvest,
    Tree, Luck, Elk, Sun,
    Creator, Birch tree, Horse, Man,
    Water, Fertility, Day, Home.
    Odin, prepare for battle!
I am glad that you give this extremely exceptional Nordic group a chance. I tell you a little about its history. The group, which are two boys and one girl, have Norwegian, Danish and German nationality and uses instruments such as horns of different animals, drums, human bones, rattles with human ashes, bells, stones, all to go back to the first musical compositions that They were able to interpret 1,000 years ago, in the iron age in northern Europe. All the letters are taken from carved gadgets from the era of the Nordic iron, such as arrowheads, bows, swords, rune stones and recite poems and psalms of war, peace and protection. Whereupon and for this, heilung, which means healing in German, is in close collaboration with archaeologists specializing in the field. The languages used by heilung are several. Among them are Latin, Old Danish, German and English. They were so successful with their first album that they had to release a new live album, which includes 2 new songs. Also a video of that album live and in 2019 they released their second work, futha, which is a much more feminine work. His first album, Ofnir, is much more aggressive and masculine. During the concerts some representations of how these ancient rituals of the iron age could be made. Also just finished the soundtrack of the video game Hellblade 2. I hope this review helps you to understand a bit the context of this musical group.
Some curiosities. When they built the drums for the group, one of which is made from horse skin, a doctor drew blood from the three members of the group and painted the drums and some of their clothes with it. The male singer with the deep voice is a great tattoo artist and very professional. The bones the girl plays with are human bones and sometimes they have had problems in the countries of the tour to introduce them through the border from the country where the concert was held.
    A hug.

    • @c.odubhlaoich2948
      @c.odubhlaoich2948 3 года назад +8

Well, Romans were in the position to be cocky, they were so skilled in their military. I would say their best defense wasn't their weaponry or their military training that often gave them an upper hand, I think it was their cohesiveness since so many of these northern tribes were scattered and divided. Rome did get owned a few times but I think they never would have stood a chance from the beginning against the Germanics if they were as orderly as the Romans since they also fought for fun and glory but were also bigger, stronger and more durable.

Heilung is "healing" or "cure" in old German. Many of the "songs" are chants taken from ancient runestones (up to 3,000 years ago), and are generally chants in praise of the gods, prayers, and other rituals, with a few reluctant calls to war.
One with some English lyrics is Krigsgaldr. It's mostly an admonishment to the neighboring tribe that attacked them.

Woot... going all Nordic! (the part of the world where I originate from) :)
You mentioned doing a bit of background check on the band. For those who have never heard about them, they're a trio from Northern Europe. Norwegian, German and Danish. Their style is what they imagined bronze age music on steroids would have sounded like. I.e. a time period that predates the vikings (The concert, that the video is from, was their first ever live performance).
They've since done more live performances all over the world, although they DO have problems getting through customs because of their instruments. Maria (the singer) often plays on a human forearm bone and the rattles have human ashes in them. The drums are covered in horse skin and gets regularly repainted with the blood of the band members. Things that tends to make customs agents give weird looks in the airport I could imagine :P
    Greetings from Brisbane
Edit: The set list of songs from their concert tells a story about a peaceful village that gets threatened by their neighbours and eventually, reluctantly, take up arms and become fierce warriors.

Check out some Wardruna they are a little softer but truly wonderful.

Its totally normal to feel a mix of emotions and feelings including nervousness, fear, sadness, anything you feel is valid. whatever you feel, don't fight it, let it in. Heilungs music awakens, and heals a part of your soul that you aren't even aware of. Just enjoy the ride.

it was kinda weird after doing that reaction, or maybe because my room became dark coz the sun went down, or perhaps that I was alone while watching this for the first time that made me feel something, I did turn on all the lights in every nook afterwards, for my own comfort, eventually felt better the next day

@Kurisutah, no need to feel afraid, it was probably one of the old Nordic gods dropping by in appreciation of how much you seemed to enjoy the music 😊 they are a really cool bunch ❤ ❤❤ if you still felt spooked you could ask Lady Freya ( one of the most beloved Nordic deities) to help you feel safe, she is very sweet & kind but takes no shit & will kick ass ❤❤❤ nothing evil or bad about her at all ( in my humble experiences & opinion).
Absolute best of wishes to you & may you be blessed with a wonderful & protected & prosperous & healthy life ❤

The music is taken from actual engraving that was found upon rocks from the ancient times, they engraved rituals, spells (Pagan) etc. Im from Wales but my DNA takes me back the the viking came from and as we know the word viking means raider or pirate. I have always been drawn towards the viking ways (paganism) since I was young and then I found out my origins started out from Scandinavia. In Maidjan--- For this invocation I the Rune Master, Servant of Odin call upon The one of the Sun to aid our army.... So basically they are chanting about the Magical Runs and asking Odin the help their army.

3:22 These are Ancient Tribal Stories and Ritual Demonstrations from the People of the North. It is to be take Seriously and Respectfully. The Band's Name Means HEALING, there is Nothing to be afraid of, Nothing Evil or Manipulative is happening. All Instruments are HAND MADE from Bone and Animal Skins, the Only Electronics Used are Mics and Speakers. I understand, they look a bit Scary or Odd and as a Result many Mock Them due to not being able to Truly Understand What is Happening.
