Just my thought... 😊Around 8 to 9 mins... to see laura struggle even to declutter the simple cleaning supplies is exactly what i am. Thing is i dont have a lot of things. But avoiding to declutter frequently makes it harder to let go of the things. To see collectively how much price we have wasted makes it hard to let it go. Am i making any sense...? I dont know.....😂😂😂😂
So happy seeing a European household! Much more relatable in terms of the amount of stuff they own
@peachettte yes, really.
I thought I was untidy but when I see what Americans accumulate, oh my God!
@ some closets on this channel have more clothes now than I owned throughout my whole life, incredible!
@@peachettte 😄it's mind-boggling, isn't it
Me too. I live (alone) in the Netherlands, in an apartment about the same size as Dani's. But my kitchen is way smaller for instance. And I feel this apartment is way too big for 1 person. So I got really annoyed when they would say things like "its hard to work in a tiny apartment or kitchen". For the rest, I love these vido's.
@@mitchjemjmj it must be a big cultural shock for them to move into small spaces after having lived in huge houses, where they could store anything they bought. Some episodes are tough to watch because the amount of stuff is just unbelievable
Don't mind me I'm just going to go fold my shopping bags now..
It’s hard to wait a week for the next area! One suggestion - when hanging things for kids- put the hooks lower so they can reach them and take care of their own things.
Inspiring
@@suzifitzpatrick1802 I think it's their space limitation for now. The bags are above the stroller. I'm sure they will migrate down when the stroller is gone.
@@TheJoyFinderI didn’t see the stroller, I wondered where they put that.
It’s amazing how much organization helps to calm a space. She didn’t even have to declutter that much. I can’t wait to see her confidence grow. Being a new mom is hard enough.
Hahaha the kids are made of sugar. So you have also the saying in the Netherlands? We Germans say it all the time "you are not made of sugar" when it rains.
Yeah absolutely. Your mom will tell you when you don't want to go outside because of the rain 😂
We say that in Polish as well 😂
we also say in Dutch: het meeste valt ernaast, meaning, most of the rain lands around you and not on you :P
Definitely haha! My mum also used to say when we were kids that the rain can't go further than your skin (het gaat niet verder dan je huid) if we had to cycle to school in a downpour lol
USA too!
My goodness, that is such a difference, and the actual declutter pile was quite small. It was all about the organisation.
As a fellow Dutchie I just want to say: LOVE to see a Dutch home on this channel and Laura your English is so good! Makes me proud🙂↕️💗
Cheers from Belgium, one country over! Congrats to April and Laura for their work, and for their language skills. Laura's English is great & April pronounced BAKFIETS perfectly hahaha
@isisverissimo8881 do you know how come April is in the Netherlands?
Don't you think Laura had been abroad for some years. I don't even hear an accent. Proud fellow dutchie here❤
@stichloverf0rl1v3 could be! But wouldn’t be surprised if she learned it through school and watching tv/youtube!
@@meinhartfrancois haha right!? We love a bakfiets over here😂 I think she asked what countries she should go to in eu a few months ago to help make space. But who knows…
@stichloverf0rl1v3 I've lived abroad longer than I lived in the Netherlands, but my Dutch accent can still be spotted. Though in my current country people can't place my accent because there aren't many Dutchies here, so they guessed Russian, French or American instead.
I love the international projects to see the unique differences in homes and cultures.
And also so cool how you attack the space that criticizes her from her spot on the couch.
Pardon me as I go grandma fold my shopping bags.
“Grandma fold” 😆 Love it
Woo hoo a new series. Love this because it is a young family of 4. Mom knows exactly where she wants things she just needed time and a bit of direction from April. I loved how Jasper walked to the clean mud room and just stood there looking at it. Now he is on board. We are getting off to a great start.
A video with our friend-neighbors from the Netherlands! Greetings from Germany! Right around the corner, kind of ☺️
Laura, I got fed up with cleaning things I hated. I arranged them from worst to best and I'm using them up. It's incredibly satisfying throwing each one away
I'm still working my way through all the cleaning supplies I inherited in my father's home, 4 years later.
I grouped like items together, and arranged them with the least full items in the front of each category. EIGHT spray bottles of various "All Purpose Cleaner"? Sheesh. Lol.
The only thing I have completely depleted is toilet bowl cleaner, and that took 2.5 years.
@renfairegoddess It takes me a while to get through a bottle too. But the container was overflowing when I started and it's now about half. It helps that each is a bit better than the last. It feels great knowing I won't be rebuying any of them.
I had so many and it was real frustrating. I finally decided my mental space was worth more than making myself use products I didn't like/didn't work/etc. I took them ALL to the hazardous waste dumping place and dropped them off. I felt so much better having it all gone. You may feel that was wasteful but keeping it in my house, letting it bully me and not wanting to use them was wasteful too- of my self. get rid of that stuff, do not take anymore- even if "free". Y cupboard now is juts the stuff I will use. Peaceful.
@@jackieo2403 you do what you can, where you can. Peace of mind is incredibly valuable.
I would add, when using up cleaning supplies that you don't like: soap is soap. It doesn't have to say "toilet bowl cleaner" on the label for it to be used as a toilet bowl cleaner. You can use up the cleaners much more quickly if you just use them wherever they're needed, irrespective of the labels.
I am a space maker method junkie! I was so happy 😊 to see a new episode this morning. I can't wait for next week.
Me too! I kept checking every day for new episodes from TSM and being disappointed not to see a new project.
So excited for Lauras journey! 😍 She's so cute. So nice to see a dutch home!
Hi Laura, thank you for open your house for us Dutchies too. Great job already and to see you so motivated! 💪🏼
Great job! I wonder if you may want to change the dustpan and backpacks around so that the kids can hang up their own bags? I don't have kids so no idea if that's just wishful thinking 😂 But lovely to see a new sweet family x
Agree❤
I’m excited for this series! She has amazing instincts for decluttering and what to keep. I think she’s better than she gives herself credit for.
Agreed! I think she knows what she has and what she needs, she just needs the encouragement to trust herself. ❤ I’m half Dutch Laura, and I really understand your logic and sense of humour. Thanks for opening your home to us!😊
Hi April , love this new series. What an adventure, getting to meet people around the globe through you. Hope you are having lots of fun. 😊 I eagerly wait to watch you every Sunday.
Wonderful quick win! I can’t wait to see more of this couple 😊
I couldn't believe the after! How was it even possible? So much more serene and organized. Also, I very much like how the apartment is furnished, especially the kitchen colors 👍🏻❤️
It's a house not an apartment.
So cool! Love this channel.
Small suggestion, I would hang the dust pans vertically on top of each other behind the door where the mop is, and flip them so the brush is flat against the wall. That way they don’t pop out so much. Could create a Calmer visual on the wall.
Had the same thought! And maybe hang the kids bags at kids hight for them☺️
I was concerned that one child wouldn’t be able to reach their backpack…🙊
They’re Dutch so the 2 year old son is probably 5’ 6” 😂
HORRIBLY jealous of that shelving system. It’s so beautiful
Amazing transformation! I felt so overwhelmed looking at that mudroom, and felt a strong sense of doubtful 'no way!' energy at the beginning.
I need to learn: April is THEEEEEE Space Maker, and SPACE WILL BE MADE!!!
Just incredibly satisfying and the kind of 'easy' (not to me!) win that really sets the tone and builds joy & confidence for calming and clearing the next hot spot! Cannot wait for the kitchen and other multipurpose room organization extravaganzas! Sundays are so special, waking up to a Space Maker inspirational video.
April, it's so NICE to have you roam the world, de-stressing one household at a time!!!
The ripple effect COULD be world peace! Right?
😊😊❤😊😊
Enjoying every minute of your channel! Just bought your book too! Please make some Space Maker merch shirts. My husband and I would proudly wear them!
Thank you so much! I hope you love the book and we'll work on putting some ideas through for merch in the future😜
I'm only 2 minutes in and I already love Laura so much. Excited for this series!!
Wat een hoop Nederlandse volgers! Super leuk!
Love the idea of putting the kids' backpacks on hooks. One thing though - I would have put the hooks *way* down on the wall so the kids can hang up their own bags. Competence and autonomy at an early age. Just as Laura is teaching them to clean up their own messes by providing kid-size hand broom and dustpan...go Laura!
she can maybe hang her own bag on the top one and add a smaller one for the youngest...
@rosevandijk That makes so much sense! Im such a fan of kids doing whatever they can. They seem to really enjoy feeling competent and independent!
so happy for a dutch house declutter. The houses here, are so very different in the U.S.A you doing great Laura
Great start! As the children get older their bags should be at a level they can reach
Dutch fangirl here! Made my day to see that you’ve come to the Netherlands 😍en lekker bezig Laura! 💪
Thanks to you, I've found decluttering my mum's home easy and fun. It was something i always wanted to do and she is super grateful. I'm flying back to her in march to do more.. I can't wait ! 🎉
Great example of when you have space , you fill it. So much usuable space - glad she reached out to a coach
Yaaay! So lovely to see some fellow Dutchies. Goed gedaan! Het ziet er zo veel kalmer en ruimtelijker uit 🎉
My 2 cents: First, love the transformation! Wow! Second, I would place that bin with the stroller rain covers beside the mugs and her bag of grocery bags on the bottom shelf. One small bowl placed there in front for a “drop zone” will ensure things don’t pile up again. I worry that the empty shelving will invite clutter.
Hi Laura and Jasper! Thank you for letting April film your beautiful house!🏡 I love your living room/dining room/kitchen - very stylish! Also love your rainbow sweater! Fantastic job on the little kitchen. Being parents of young kids makes a lot of mess with little time to clean up - I remember those days - having a system will help so much.
I love how respectful and friendly she is compared to some of the other declutterring channels. She’s not judging for keeping a large amount of things and she’s not pushy about getting rid of more stuff.
GEWELDIG!! Welkom in Nederland.❤ Love this.
Thanks for letting us into your home. The mud room looks great. I’m in awe of how you fold the bags. April it’s great to see you travelling around Europe. Have a great week. Mary, Joes wife 🙇♀️👏💪👍💐🙏🐈⬛
*Wow, what an INSANE transformation! 🎉 Seeing all that chaos disappear so quickly is beyond satisfying. The power of decluttering is REAL! 💪✨ Amazing job-this is the kind of motivation we all need! Who else loves a good QUICK WIN like this?!* 🙌💖 💯💯💯❤❤❤
OOh, what a difference! Lovely home and always good to see a family on the same page in terms of what needs doing. Can't wait for the rest of the episodes!
This is a great beginning to feel the calm. Great decluttering! Looking forward to seeing the other rooms. 😊
Loving this new series, can't wait for next week! Getting young families off to a good start!!!
I'm a South African living in a rental row house in the Netherlands. We don't have a bij keuken. Storage is a massive challenge. We dont have any built-ins. The open plan layout and steep stairs are a new obstacle. Nowhere to hide anything. I hope to learn from watching this. Thank you for sharing your home, Laura!
This video popped up in my feed. I love this style, no sped-up magic! It's nice to watch the process in more real time. Because organizing can be a slow process and we must re-work how we store things as we go along. I see that organizing with the homeowners original stuff was used, no need to go out and buy new baskets/bins/trays! I have been dreading organizing my laundry room. It's been a mess since we worked a year on home renovation. The remodeling has been done for a few months now and I need to get many spaces back in order. I think I'll play another video from this channel on my phone in the background to keep me company as I do the laundry room. It's a little inspo to watch/listen to others who share my same messy struggle.😂
fun to see you in the Netherlands, I reckognize the architecture, typical Dutch stuff ;-) Rijtjes Huizen, but mine doesn't have leaded glass doors. well done Laura and April. I always looks at my stuff after one of these videos and declutter a little something
It's amazing what a bit of organizing does to a room, and there wasn't that much to get rid of... It looks great.
In both of my classrooms I have got cute metal boxes filled with rice and I keep the chalks in them. Kids love it.
We live in Germany and it’s so funny/good to see the same clutter I deal with my 2 kids. It takes time to make the habit, but my kids (7&10) do hang their bags on their hooks. It helps that there’s no screentime until they „reset“ from school, including bags and shoes. I have to ask: Where do you put your shoes???
Laura said about the shoes that were laying on the floor of the mud room that they should go to the other shoes "in the hall way".
@@LeaSonnenscheinTrier ah, I didn’t always have audio on and must have missed that. Thanks. Maybe we will get a glimpse in a later episode. Shoe storage is the bane of our apartment.
Yay a new friend to help and meet. I love your videos!
Welkom in Nederland! Hopelijk komen er nog meer in Nederland!
Yay, new episodes :)! I would take the white sticker off of the broom from the gray dustpan, since it is hanging on the wall and so visible.
When I saw that mid-century shelves in the living room, I was hooked. Great start on the mudroom, can't wait to see more videos of that series.
And I thought I was the only one folding my shopping bags into squares like that! But the handle flip at the end is a revelation to me indeed, genius 😃
I’m excited for this new series! I also love her rainbow 🌈 sweater 😊
This project needed her to have the gift of time. With two little ones, attention has to be on what they are touching, what they are doing, etc. so being able to have this time to work without them was a big part of making this happen. Love April's ideas and solutions for storage. Huge improvement in the space. Also not a fan of things hanging on the doors. Would a hook on the outside of the crates work to hold it?
It's so easy for small multi-purpose areas to get cluttered. The transformation so far looks great! Well done June & April! 💗💪
I love how the little back packs are spaced so as the kids grow they’ll still be able to store them there! Love this family ❤
"the kids are made of sugar" best quote ever!
omg you were in the Netherlands?!!?!?! i was thinking of filling out your form for a certain area in my appartment but i thought… when is she ever going to come to the Netherlands haha…
I love this new serie in the netherlands. So nice to see a typical dutch home with recognizable products to organize. I loved reading your book! I just started my own parttime company as a professional organizer. I love to follow the space maker method.
The mudroom was so awesome. I'm extremely excited for this series. They have things they actually use, which is nice & to see how they'll store it to make it more streamlined for them will be so cool. She mentioned your book which means they'll be able to maintain the organization after you're gone. ❤❤❤❤
Today, I learned a new technique for folding bags 😊
As an American, I love the recycling and reusing in Holland!!!
The underlying concept is really nice but you need a lot of storage for separating and storage until you bring them to the recycling centre:
Glass bottles and jars,
Drink cans ( no denting!),
Reusable plastic bottles,
Paper and cartons
Compostable food and
Oneway plastics and metal,
What rests is the waste that is not in another category... ( This is usually picked up from the curb every other week).
So good to see and now I have learnt some things too. May I suggest a good hook for her handbag behind the door? Then more light can come in! Great video!
April you always help people with clutter and make them happier.love to watch and learn❤
I always love a "quick win" declutter to get things rolling for the big jobs to come!!!🎉❤You all did a great job!!! What a cute sunny home. 😊
Nice job. Where did you put the recycling and stroller? Couldn’t you hang the shopping bags on the wall behind the door instead hanging off the door?
Yay a new series :) I store all my shopping bags in the trunk of my car, less clutter in the house!
Wow, what a difference! I love it!, so easy but makes a huge difference. Can’t wait for the next one!😊❤ one change I would make is move bags off the door, if it wasn’t glass it would look ok but to me it looks messy, just a though😊
Yay! Another lovely family to join in their quest for declutter peace and organization. Love the before and after and the journey as well. Thank you from Florida.
Such a lovely, calm and organized space! I’m the same…I don’t like to look at a lot of visual clutter, when I’m trying to relax. Looking forward to following this series!
Important that you decluttered the VISUAL STRESS she was feeling. Baby steps to building clean out muscles Bravo
You can always defrost the freezer with a hairdryer/heater. It’s a little bit of work, but if you get out the big chunks it goes way faster. And you can keep all the frozen food or milk together for a short time without it defrosting.
Nice results, it looks way better!
Yes! And trays of boiling water help as well.
Yes, we bought a bag of ice and put everything in a cooler outside. It all went very quickly and so easily… something I had put off for almost 2 years. 😬🫣😅
there's also a cleaning agent (I think it's from HG) that quickly defrosts
Thanks for a new serie April❤
Laura has a beautiful home and are very cute. Will love to follow.
Great job!
Take care❤
April in Europe! Come to me to Germany 😂
Love to see you back, for some reason the sound was not working for some of the part of the video. Hope you can fixed soon. Stay safe and well.
Interesting, no sound problems when I watched it earlier.
I didn’t have any sound problems. I wonder if it was your TV or internet?
The only times I was unable to hear clearly, were when Jasper was talking. I don’t think he had a microphone on, as I noticed Laura had.
I couldn't hear some parts either. I ended up using the closed captioning. It looks great!
Great progress. I loved the kids back packs hanging up. But was pleading with Jasper to hang another hook behind the door for that big M&S bag full of bags. Hanging that on the door is horrible. So oppressive. The wall is perfect for it. Maybe loose the bear to make space.
Im so glad you're back with more decluttering! Your help makes such a difference! Also, do you know who Diane in Denmark is? She has a wonderful channel about building routines and decluttering in small increments of time. I could see ya'll collaborating. You with the bug declutter and her with maintaining after. You both are positive, energetic and kind.
Excited for your new decluttering and organizing series. Looking great!
Great to see a Dutch home!
Yay! A new series. 😊 my favorite early Sunday morning organizing fix!
Love to see fellow Dutchies on this channel! Laura's home seems very cozy and the decluttering and organizing will just make it even better! One thing I do, I have a little hook in the cabinet under the sink in the kitchen to hang my dustpan on, together with my other cleaning supplies! Doesn't take up much room and it's out of sight but still easy to grab :)
Wow, wow!! I can't believe how good Laura's English is!
So glad your there to help out declutter and organize home ❤
Laura has the right mindset. Calm the visual clutter. Great video!
Wow - fabulous! So cool to see a dutch home.
Love your videos, love to see homes in different countries. Great job
Im thinking for Laura's view line into that catch all/mudroom area - it might be nice for plants - say one on top of the microwave & one or a couple of small one's on top of the stacked boxes? That room gets so much beautiful natural light - it seems like the perfect spot to have some greenery! And plants are something good for the soul to see!! Also, what a lovely home. The shelving in the dining/living area is just beautiful!
Cute home. Seems lots of available storage in the home.
Thank you for sharing your home! I enjoyed watching this. I like how easy going and practical both of the women are as they work together. So many people here in the US are too attached to their stuff, sadly.
Gezellig! This was amazing. Cant wait to see more. Welkom in Nederland!
She is so lovely! Really looking forward to this series. Also spotted some new faces in the intro, looking forward to this year's content!
I already love Laura, and will love this series
You can further reduce the visual clutter of the laundry detergent by removing labels.
So happy you are back to inspire my Sunday ❤
Beautiful home! I love her sweater 💌
Love the tip you said about the microwave cover - I moved mine there as soon as you said that! A great place for it! :)
I use it so infrequently that it would just be in the way every time I went to put something in!
Cant wait for moree~
Welcome in our country you 2
They have a beautiful house! Can't wait to see, what it looks like in the end! ❤
Great job! They have a beautiful home and I can’t wait to see the upcoming videos.
