Not sure I agree with you this time, James. I’m BORED. TO. DEATH. with neutrals. Some of my favorite design mags have been full of neutral interiors with the same colors, same design features from room to room that I’ve stopped reading them. If I see another off white interior or beige or greige with light medium tone woods that look like they are completely interchangeable with any other house. You could swap out a kitchen or living room and no one would know the difference. They look like AI could have generated the same designs.
What I love these days are English and European design that is not scandi. Especially with English, there is a burst of colors and pattern and layers that are very cozy. As we head into fall, you should be headed in that direction. I’ve used a warm light peachy color in my bathroom and it is so sophisticated and pretty. (French manicure by BM). But I’m going to be creating a cosy English library in my basement and I want a mix of raspberries, light yellow greens and mid tone blues in alcoves and around little dining nooks. So, I think you might be behind the curve here. Not surprising given your preference for every shade of gray. What I want is advice on mixing it up, not playing it safe.
Thank you! Bland is so 4 years ago. Bleh. My closet is a beautiful raspberry and I love it.
I have never liked the color green and last year I decided to paint my small powder room and an accent wall in my living room Sherwin-Williams Avocado and guess what? I absolutely love it! and I still love it! I think it's because there's some brown in it and some gold in it, which are two other colors that I was considering for those walls. I'm the kind of person who will paint a wall over and over again until I come up with a color I like and I got it right the first time and I don't plan on changing it anytime soon.
Greenis is awesome, but it has to be the right green. Some can be garish. It's one of my favorites. Glad you tried it.
I do too
2024 introduced me to coppery colours and I have to say, I’m a fan
Hi Dreamie, it is awesome to see your post about copper. I just ordered copper metallic sheet metal for my garage roof. I love to the copper color. But it hasn't been the easiest color to find a match for. I am talking about siding color here. I am going to try Chai Tea from Do it Best Hardware Paint. It is an off white. We will see how it works out.
@@lonnieclemens8028 I think a creamy off white would look wonderful with your roof
@@dreamie9868 Thank you very much for the advice. I think you are probably right.
Love blue. Had a bedroom in a sky blue with wispy cloud airbrush on by an artist
I have a combined guest bedroom/craft room. It's painted Benjamin Moore's Gypsy Pink. The vibrancy of the magenta color energizes me. Another positive is that guests don't overstay their welcome. Finally, the paint color speaks to the bright green tree leaves that unfurl in spring outside the window - divine. The rest of my home is neutral with pops of color here and there. But that magenta room is my most favorite space in my home, the place where I always want to be and feel the most comfortable.
I enjoy your videos but this one only had one actual paint color example. It's helpful to see specific colors that illustrate the points you are making. Thank you.
My favorite color is Potting Soil by Behr paints. A dark neutral that spoke to me for my bedroom. I painted my trim in ultra white for the woodwork. It is stunning!
Sorry, but I love oranges, yellows. I do not follow trends!
Saturated colors are easy to live with. Far more cost than whites, grays, and beige which are cold and institutional.
@@mlgmoore you think so? Idk anyone who could live with a saturated colour that isn’t deep for their kitchens, living rooms. Unless it’s a child’s room or a powder room
I think it depends on the person and the location. I get a lot of winter. Bright saturated colours help me live through it. Dull greyed out colours do my head in by February.
@@mlgmoore I think they’re great except for on walls.
You do now. Behr’s Vintage Velvet on the walls of every room in my small house. Glowing and cozy. And not boring and pretentious.
@@janicelindegard6615 I agree, I learned my lesson the hard way by painting my room my favourite colour as a teen (bright orange) haha. But I still love little pops of orange here and there. Walls very muted
Hi James, I would like to mention the unusual decorating color of black. I have seen two brand new houses with modern architecture painted black. One has black T-1-11 siding with tinted windows, and the framework of the windows is black. It has black shingles. And actually I find these houses to be quite attractive. But I don't want that color of a house for myself. I am just surprised at how attractive a new black house can be. But it's just not for me please.
I have an orange front door and sometime bring out my orange throw pillows.
I think
Pastel paint is beautiful and still rich but not in your face like the stark loud oranges. They are the loud colors but toned not so loud. They go well with off-white trim or white trim or beige or grey or off -white anything too.
I love navy and white it’s a classic. But I live in New England
Same. Jersey Shore 🌊
Yay to muted tones and NAY to saturated colors! Who can live with those all the time? No to baby blue but yes to SW Sea Salt. I've had it now for several years in two rooms with different orientations and have never tired of it. Some colors are just classics.
Please tell me grey is out!!! I hate Grey floors! Grey walls, grey carpet! Hat it all! Was popular in the 80’s. Had a grey and burgandy condo. Done that been there, let’s not do it again!!!
Been there .. done that.. painted over it. 💕
I. Hate. Blue. It’s so boring but also not neutral. And never looks contemporary. I’m with you on blue for a bathroom, but that’s about it. Even then, I want a lot of green in it.
Blue makes me sad. Blue makes me blue
The only blue I would consider for my house is a seriously dark navy blue that is almost black. 😂
Did our office navy, and it looks amazing. It’s timeless.
I'm with ya, blue is cold, not neutral, deja vu. Can't stand it in my decor, not even in the bathroom.
Yes! Many blues are just not good. I've seen some classic navy blues that look stunning, and the occasional cobalt blue door. But the bad choices do outweigh the good! If I see another ocean-theme bathroom....
Yes...muted and calming is my choice! I once painted orange on 1 wall and instantly -- hated it! I want to add some color to a mostly white kitchen.... thinking of painting 1 wall. I'll look for your input?
Orange NEVER, and blue, nope nope.
I would never use purple or a baby blue. I love green kitchen cabinets but like more neutral walls and use color in art, fabric and furniture.
What the hell? Knock it off with all of the arty stock images and videos. How about showing more examples of actual paint on the walls? Now that would be a good trend to follow!
Why are experts say Gray is going out or is out. But taking about gray colors? I want a color I can live with and then sell next yr.
Need inspiration for repainting interiors on my 2023 spec home. Extensive trim is medium cherry tones, traditional profiles, well executed. Walls and ceilings are heavily textured in a sloppy and inconsistent manner. Color might be SW’s Accessible Beige. Despite plentiful tall windows, the home feels too dark. Thinking a lighter, still warm wall color. Rooms with ceiling trim would get painted a couple of shades lighter, other rooms would be one color. Any thoughts?
Please anything but gray, greige, beige, white....so tired of them. I do agree not too saturated but give me color.
Saturated color all the way. Gray, beige, off white? No thank you.
Every website that has decor is white or gray. Dang, if I wanted to live in the asylum then I’d paint those colors. Every factory I worked in, a lot by the way, was painted white or gray. Not for the home for me.
what's your thought on Behr Nocturne blue?
That’s a pretty color for a bedroom, den, or furniture piece
No beige
No purple!
Literally didn't hear back from after requesting a paint pyramid. Wanted to GIVE YOU MONEY and you ghosted.
I hope this isn't something you normally do and thankfully I got a FREE consult with Sherwin-Williams.
Very disappointing way to treat your customers and people that want to give you money
