My mother always said that the dining room should be in the color that is most flattering to the lady of the house. It is her stage. It is the room where she entertains and hold Court for her friends and family. It should never be a color that washes her out. I think mother had a great idea.

Because I am into more modern aesthetics, I was hesitant to watch, but so glad I did. Miriam explained in a language I understand and the knowledge dropped is so useful. We will be using what Miriam shared in the home we are currently building. She is so concise and thorough in her explanations. Now I feel better equipped to land on paint color selections.

I love your style and your designs. This is great information. I did a lot of investigating when I was repainting and added millwork in 2020. I did it all myself. I used OC17 on all my millwork and ceiling of my main living area. My bedroom is a very light green that matches my PB duvet and the ceiling Is a shade lighter then the walls. My inspirations was one of the HGTV dream home. I thought it was a pretty safe place to try it. My ceilings in my living area all open up to each other.

I found when we painted our home that the colour ‘biscuit’ by sherwin Williams was neutral. I tested it when it was sunny and in the shaded areas of the living area and it always looked bright. The fabric in our furniture was pink, red and green all of them with a blue undertone. The paint on the wall was perfect with it.

I have been struggling over the choice of paint color for my family room. North facing Two sliding door windows Fieldstone fireplace extending across full length of one wall and knotty pine with beams on ceiling and knotty pine wainscoting. So many elements and can’t afford to change I have watched so many videos and read so many paint color reviews, my head is swimming! But, I learned more from this one video than all of those put together. I am saving this to rewatch. Hopefully I can come to a decision sooner than later. Thanks for an informative tutorial!

Thank you for these explanations! Can you tell us the color of the shelving behind you - is that flat OC-18? and the lighter trim that surrounds it? I realize that the light reflects it differently than it would in another space, but really love the combination. Your second favorite paint after Benjamin Moore? Thank you and please make more of these types of videos.

I would like to create a feature wall one day and I am looking for examples.... but I am like you that I don't want it to look dated or fake, just elegant pops of color that blends seemlessly with the rest of the room.
