- Richard Burton as MacPhisto in the film Candy. The story is based on a novel by Terry Southern. Burton is hilarious in this and at the same time one is treated to his thespian power. Fun nearly forgotten film.
Forests of Flesh: (Candy 1968)
Life, which burned and bled in the triumph of my dream,
dim days
Where I stood steaming brightly
In the sleep-spun, sight-stunned glamour of that eagle-crested
dream
Thrust through the draughty, tongue-tied pores
Of those whose tender envelope of word-washed flesh
Fling that nameless, bitter tea
Stripped dry to the ice green, wind-whipped strawberry
passion
Of my fractured spleen's old lymph draining,
liquid... rrlll-list.
I saw this... this.. as a young adult, living at home, on a 13 inch black and white tv at 3am. My jaw stayed on the floor for the whole film.
So basically Bill Murray has been doing a Richard Burton impression for years now
I love how he has a constant breeze blowing over him wherever he goes.
I fucking love that!
🤣🤣🤣
Standard Rock Star environment. ✅
Richard Burton was an great great actor.R.I.P.
Haha, the way he said "lust" as he were a lion! Rrr-lust! Brilliant!
I started to watch the movie last night this was the best thing in it .
"If you're going to make rubbish, be the best rubbish in it." -Richard Burton
This made me spill my cocktail...
best scene in the movie and great 60's psychedelic music to boot!
One hundred percent agree with the first part, that’s for sure...
❤️❤️❤️
That was an epic entrance
I’ve kissed the wind & drunk the sea.
Thanks for posting!! Folks who haven't seen this movie (and then re-watched to appreciate and understand the dry undercurrent of political commnetary throughout) just as pertinent today as in '68 when this came out. I was a teenager then and didn't understand it, saw it decades later when it rarely showed up on TV, and finally in the DVD box set - and found the breadth and scale of the script/satire astounding.
This is on the order of Dr. Strangelove or any other high brow (but dry) satire for those who just want to be entertained. That 'Don't Look Up' is touted as some sort of masterpiece about the culture of human self-destruction - well, it doesn't hold a candle to this movie most have never heard of nor seem to understand (read the negative comments on IMDB who have no idea what this is about). And yep - it's a delightful representation of pop culture of this era.
I think this is Burton poking fun of Burton
No it is Burton making fun of Dylan Thomas the greatWelsh Poet you illiterate clod.
She was absolutely gorgeous and I share my birthday with her. 25 years apart. Shit film I believe but I really must watch it sometime.
Rubbish with a great cast & fantastic over the top perfs from Burton, James Coburn, Walter Matthau and Brando.
I ADORE READING
My das walks by as I’m watching this movie.
First comment: oh is that Gomez ?
Second comment (on this scene): is that guy supposed to be a phony ?
😂
I want to see bill Murray remake this scene
A parody of Mephisto. Great music in this movie
Did he say Leamington or Flemington New Jersey?
Leamington
What's the name of the song at the beginning
That's part of the original soundtrack of the film performed by The Byrds, written by Dave Grusin and Roger McGuinn.
@@RussMcClay But does it have name?
@@rodmaiorano2115 I don't think it's a particular song but rather an instrumental part of the soundtrack. The entire soundtrack of the film is here: ruclips.net/video/YA4rzFvztYE/видео.html
The movie is CANDY not MacPhisto
Please read the title more carefully.
@@RussMcClay The error is in the description.
Hi Cassandra, pardon me, it was pointed out the error was in the description which I corrected.
Thank you, Anthony. I corrected the description.
