    I would call the motor bay a lot of wasted space. With minor rearrangement, they could have added some nice storage. It looks like a repurposed ICE platform, nice, but not very efficient.

    Well spoken review Jordan, I do feel he was a little to kind. Let's be honest, there are just too many gimmicky features compared to what I would expect in a 7 series, and areas where BMW straight up ignored.
    such as:
    -The Engine bay packaging... you can tell BMW had it's suppliers /design teams separately design each system and then integrate it, hoses everywhere. The engine bay could have accommodated a frunk had they removed some of ICE packaging requirements, and forced their design teams to work on part integration like Tesla.
    - The fabric no matter how premium doesn't look any more impressive than 25K Subaru
    -displays in the doors.... each door has a tablet display, and probably each door has its own display driver board. This is going to cause a terrible customer experience as hardware and software robustness will degrade over time, or be very distracting if one side goes out. If they have a central media computer driving each display, with separate door/window actuators then maybe.
    -wonder if that power door has sufficient depth perception /sensor depth perception to prevent a door ding on adjacent cars
    -Wondering what features in the car will be subscription based....

      @zodiacfml Год назад +1

      @@Munich81245 agreed! we have a cheap Toyota that is almost 20 years old. Because it is simple and is a Toyota, nothing in it needed unexpected repair except parts that are wear and tear or parts that are known to be replaced with mileage and/or age.

      @zodiacfml Год назад +1

      @@денисбаженов-щ1б this logic is for a kid. Richest man in the world Elon Musk "only" drives a Tesla which is cheaper than this BMW
      anyways, it was exactly my point. it is not like there is no market for the type or level of this car. this BMW is great if a home or owner already has multiple cars since it is no big issue if the car stays in the dealership for weeks or months.

    • @-Xzoom-
      @-Xzoom- Год назад

      @@денисбаженов-щ1б German car manufacturers are well know for quality ICE cars and exactly the features like these in this car. They are not advanced in software development neither the whole culture in the country is software oriented. It is more like excellent mechanical engineering tradition. ICT systems in the banks, hospitals, telecommunications, airlines for example are not top notch. There are companies like SAP and others, but not known for agile solutions.
      Just think about the OTA updates of the German cars, non existent or complicated with all of these separate controllers for the door functions just for example. Why VW has had 4000 software developers when SpaceX has only one main developer mastering the code for self landing rockets?
      Jaguar I-Pace is not selling well, Audi e-trons may sometimes have mismatch of features/price. I mean typical EV features like range, performance, power consumption, battery heating, charging ... Tesla, Chinese or Korean competitors may be better there.
      So there might be not so bright future for mass manufacturers like VW, but there is a definite luxury segment that can be served with these kinds of cars. In the future they will just license the FSD functions from Tesla. The automatic driving from MB is a joke. It can work only on mapped highway / autobahn with very low speed and some other car in front of you - so in real life in a slow speed traffic jam. If suddenly the jam clears out, you need to take control, otherwise the car makes a total stop with hazard lights on. It would be very dangerous when all the others just start accelerating.
      German manufacturers are in a bit of trouble. They make profit with their ICE cars, but not with the EVs. MB has been doing ok share of EVs of their car manufacturing, but they are still stopping temporarily their EV production in China, because of too big inventory. BMW will have a dead end with hydrogen and expectations to sell ICE still in 2035. VW / Audi are selling their cars in China with 1/2 price to their employees to shrink the inventory and stopping some factories in Europe - all of these even when the EV sales is growing fast with some other brands.
      So better tech means nowadays better software - and that has been the problem with the German manufacturers so far.

    Great review! As I came to notice through the years on German cars and also on BMWs, perceived quality with nice materials isn’t always synonymous of actual quality, more than often a nice plastics peels off or even softens and melts, nice «metal» surfaces are actually just a thin veneer of metal… I bet they actually make much higher margins on their higher end models!

    Like he said, not too hot or cold exactly where your body sits, and fancy leather where there's minimal body contact so it stays looking fresh after many years.

So much cheaper to manufacture and greater profit margin. That’s what Sandy would prefer to own and drive………..right?.
