- In this video I talk about what I wish I knew before opening a basketball gym.. these are all lessons I learned in the process of opening and running my own basketball facility and all things I wish I knew earlier.
#1 expect it to take longer and cost more money than you think to open your gym. There are so many little expenses you won't even think of when going through the process and as the process elongates and takes more time, the cost increases as well. EXPECT this to happen.
#2 Expect it to be seasonal for rentals and training and factor that into revenue projections. If you are expecting every week to be perfect and super busy you will most likely be off in your projections so expect a few down weeks when seasons start, holidays, etc.
#3 Measure the TRUE net profit. You need to account for all your expenses that will add up each month to what you will really take home. There are so many expenses when it comes to running a basketball gym not just your lease+ utilities.

Great video 💯
Thank you
hey Ty, quick question, how do you respond to those who question your validity because you have not played professionally or only played one year of college ball. Also I'd also like to see a video on something along the lines of "5 biggest things that has allowed me to see growth in my training career". Keep it up man.
Have made a video along those same lines titled 5 things I did starting as a trainer that helped me succeed. I used to have people question validity at first but knowledge and results speak for themselves. One of the reasons I share things on social media to show my knowledge and provide value which eliminates a lot of the doubt about validity
You can also build a basketball court here in our contry. And I'll be the one who will manage it.
What country

Things are are mentioned are business related expenses so this can be written off during tax season thereby reducing your taxable income correct ? Then goes back into your profit margin correct ?
Yes business related expenses so can reduce your tax bill at end of the year but wouldn’t say it goes back into profit margin
How many square ft is your gym? Have you thought about adding other sports like volleyball?
Sq ft is 3,300 square feet total. Will be adding a weight room section in office area but will keep it mainly basketball since primary business hours are typically filled anyways
@@tjltraining thanks so much for the info! Your videos have been very helpful.
Volleyball 😂
I subbed
Appreciate it
Or maybe reduce the space of basket ball into half and decide the other for volley ball?
