    Thanks Daniel for these videos. I have interest in trains since I was kid. Currently I'm studying in Germany and have seen how the transportation system here works. Watching your videos and read the description about the trains (like arriving late 1 hour) made me so sad as we actually can make it better. 1 minute delay here in Germany is unacceptable. And how we Malaysians can stand to deal with 1 hour delay. Thank you very much as your videos have made me so enthusiastic to go back in Malaysia, to improvise the system we have. Hopefully, one day. :)

      Actually, compared to those years before, KTMB is improving on their timing... I remember those days when every train service was delayed for at least 15 minutes; no trains were on time. But now, there are actually trains that arrive early, which was unheard of a few years ago. The delays are partly caused by the single track system (Johor Bahru - Gemas - Tumpat for now), trains have to stop and give way to other trains. Also, the single track and the double track between Rawang - Kuala Lumpur - Seremban are getting worn out (and also using the older and a bit lighter rails), so those sectors have a lot of caution orders, drivers have to follow a certain speed limit (40km/h usually, 15km/h in severe cases) when passing through the worn out sections.

      Daniel Qihuai Ng But, the government promise to fix it before 2020 right?

      Daniel Qihuai Ng well, I noticed that. I've been one of KTM intercity customers since 2009. Last summer I got the opportunity to travel with ktm intercity from KL to Gemas. and I was satisfied with the improvement, but I think KTM actually can do it better. and yup I know about the single rail track after Gemas station to the south. Frankly here in Germany most of the tracks are single. And I think what should be improvised is KTM should have their own train schedule. ( In Germany we called it Fahrplan). and they should do tests frequently on the timing. OMG you know what, I just cannot imagine how will it be when our public transport at its best. How much profit can be generated per year.

      Zaiman Syahzmi Don't know about that but to be a developed country a good transportation is a compulsory. Seronok kan kalau travel naik ktm and semua benda on time? haha

    • @DanielQihuaiNg

      Haha they do have the train schedules, but to actually follow it 100%, I'm afraid, is not possible due to the prevalent Malaysian culture of 'cincai-lah, janji sampai'... If they really followed it 100%, even trainspotting would be soooo much easier hahaha

    It looks a great spot. Plenty of vantage points. I imagine if I went there and hung around for the entire day then it would ultimately attract someone's attention.

    • @DanielQihuaiNg
      @DanielQihuaiNg  6 лет назад

      Yeah it was a great spot. Sadly most of the station sidings are gone now, with the electrified double-tracking project underway....

  • @rogerevans936

    Would there be an issue photographing there if a permission letter was not obtained ? Was it the amount of photographers that was the issue ?
    A lone railfan or just one or two would not need a letter ?

    • @DanielQihuaiNg
      @DanielQihuaiNg  6 лет назад

      Technically you still need an official letter. But be low profile, discreet, safety-minded and don't film in the station master / the auxiliary police officer's sight and you will be fine :)

    As I'm a regular visitor to Thailand, I was thinking of crossing the border at Padang Besar to photograph some KTM units.
    Would it be worth my while ? As in would I see one loco hauled train all day or several ?
    I believe there is a freight yard there. The EMUs don't do much for me, I would need to see loco hauled train s to make it worth while.

    • @DanielQihuaiNg
      @DanielQihuaiNg  6 лет назад

      Yes, and the yard is very busy during weekdays. Usually there would be 4 to 5 freight trains per day to and from Butterworth. Just be careful with the Malaysian officers, they can be unfriendly towards trainspotters. Try to coincide your trip to Padang Besar with the Eastern & Oriental Express's journey through there, it makes the trip even more worthwhile.
      This was my trip there.

    Ok last dumb question I promise !
    Where would you recommend I go to get the greatest volume of trains on the line from Padang Besar to Butterworth ?
    I've googled some of the location s of your videos trying to work out which section sees the most traffic.

    • @DanielQihuaiNg
      @DanielQihuaiNg  6 лет назад

      Sorry for the late reply... the section between Gurun & Bukit Mertajam junction will have the greatest volume of trains. You can expect to see container trains, CIMA cement, and PETRONAS trains.

  • @rogerevans936
    @rogerevans936 6 лет назад

    Doesn't sound like KTM are overly accepting of railfaning in general.
    I only take stills not video but would it be wiser just to take my shots at a level crossing somewhere rather than a KTM station ?

    • @DanielQihuaiNg
      @DanielQihuaiNg  6 лет назад

      For the single line section (Tumpat - JB), yes. Better yet, shoot with telephoto lens, you don't need to get into contact with the staff at all this way hahaha... For double-tracked sections, try find a pedestrian bridge to shoot from. :)

    Apalah keretapi Malaysia ini pendek2 dan kontot2. Paling banyak pun 10 gerabak.. udahlah laluan nya di tengah2 ladang .. mana nak untung? Cuba tengok keretapi negara orang, panjang2 sampai 20 buah gerabak yang di tarik oleh kepala keretapi.. sepatutnya laluan baru komersial mesti di bina dan digunakan oleh KTM.. baru ada untung.
