This was a great job, a collection in Hartlepool and rrun it down to Leeds. I used a trailer called a Slider which I will go through in depth in the near future.
found this video while doing research into logistics for a class i'm taking, i wasn't entirely sure if shipping containers from boats or trucks would be able to be seamlessly transferred to trains without the need to unload and reload into a new container. this video pretty easily answered my question, and i have a new found appreciation for the simplicity and versatility of the classic metal box.
That was different! I've always wondered how those containers got on the trains. Now I've seen an insiders perspective! Cheers Steve, hope you are well mate and enjoying the weather!
I've always wondered how on Earth they keep track of which container is going where. The trains seem so random as they go by. There must be some sort of complex system to figure it all out.
Another great video bud, nice wee change for you great to see how they do it. hope you and Karen have a great Easter and hopefully get a chance to get out in the camper again with this nice weather
Another great vlog Steve my dad is a twistlock engineer he run in and out off felixstowe all the time whats happened to the fridge work loved seeing bonny scotland lol take it easy mate
Very interesting video Steve. Containers is something I am considering going for when I return to driving at some point this year,(Awaiting further surgery) I have no experience at all with them. So any advice/help you an put out would be greatly appreciated. Cheers buddie, drive safe 🚛🌪️
Well today 4 year old kid woke up and asked how containers are loaded on trains, because he see trains from window every day. Then I went to youtube and showed him this. This was his morning cartoon movie.
Seen it from the railway point a view a few times, but not from the lorry - very interesting. They always push the speed of rail service, but never mention the lorry driver hanging about. You didn't mention what size container you had, or why you had to turn it. Could it be H&S - try to prevent doors flying open on trains?
No mate, it was so he could load further back as he had run out of room. This one was a 20ft load which was in the picture. I enjoyed this one also. Hope your well.

Thank Ian. One more shift to go then our first night out in the Van. What could possibly go wrong lol.
I wondered about that too. I've seen those big yellow cranes before, but I never knew what they were for.
Thank you, using part of this in one of my business classes I teach about logistics. :)
Very pleased it has helped. That's why I did them. Hope your well.

Those containers are the same on all four corners, why the hell would they make you turn around???

Best of luck. I will add more detailed container vlogs once I get more of a feel.
Been on the boxes for about a year and a half now. I see the crane drivers in Leeds like their horns as much as the Freightliner Coatbridge guys!
I star 'horn' language school next week. Lol.
This is what I want more of
Iv a few of the container runs on here buddy. Glad you enjoyed this one. Take care Bob
What country is this?
sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but why did he need you to turn round to unload the container

That's brilliant hope it answered his questions.
Thought you'd get to like the Volvo mate ;-)

@@mick6263 just doing other work as it's gone a bit quiet at my usual place buddy. Thing is, I am enjoying this a lot.
