To be honest, this is all pretty good considering the circumstances. You can't of couse expect european quality, so you would definitely have to lower your expectations for this. I expected this train to be on the level of some of the most neglected and overcrowded trains out there, but it turns out to be pretty decent :) I don't know how Pakistan's economy is, but the train ticket seems quite expensive to me. The cheaper 2nd class seats are cheaper, so I hope those are pretty affordable
There doesn't seem to be a direct flight, so they just have buses to compete with. While it says first class, I would say that the seating and service are more comparable to an AC chair car on India railways and a similar trip would cost around the same on Indian railways. The business class has more privacy that the first class, though I am guessing it's not air conditioned.

Wonderful video! Happy to have found your channel. Very unfortunate to see racist comments however. It saddens me that people generalise a whole nation based upon a small minority of bad apples.
The price of tea / coffee mentioned in this video is higher. Meanwhile in India/Bharat it is lower maybe 10-20 Indian ruppe. One thing we (India & Pakistan ni) had in common is throwing waste from the train window that's why waste is present in the tracks. It would be so great we Asian people should change our habits then our country will be more beautiful we don't have so many buildings but we are rich in natural beauty.

From what I gathered from family. People use air conditioned bus coaches more than train. It more modern and some are as good as plane business class. They run between cities.
I absolutely love your videos! Not only for the trains but also just to see different parts the world. It is absolutely crazy to me that I (as someone very interested in geography) have never heard of Lahore despites its population being more then 4 times the one of the city I live in!
Thank you very much! And that is crazy haha, there are some very big cities in this part of the world that many people from afar have probably never heard of!
When I was just over the border in Amritsar some 5 years ago, it was foggy all the time. My flight was nearly cancelled because of it. But the Waga border is fantastic!
Thank you for this beautifully atmospheric video and this intimate perspective of rail travel in Pakistan. Though as a brit-pak, I have to say I find it quite melancholic. I can't help but see the lost past/future that could have been - the old grand station in disrepair with non-functioning ticketing and ads instead of a departure board, the aged 'super deluxe parlour' class, old semaphores, decaying tracks and trains, an unconnected Islamabad/RP/Lahore - each the result of decades upon decades of mismanagement/myopia/incompetence, and a corrupt contemptuous elite that have looted the country and its people. prob doesn't help i nearly fell into a moving shithole of doom on one too lol. As a kid, I had to take a shiet and the the toilet was just a (pretty big) hole, from which you could see straight through to the tracks hurtling by underneath, and with the floor heavily 'lubricated' as you approached it with nothing to hold onto. While squatting I could barely stay balanced/align my butt with the hole, the bumpy train could barely stay aligned with the tracks, and the previous users weren't very successful either :s
Railways are pathetically poor in our country and that's no surprise considering poor infrastructure maintainance and corruption with ofcourse lack of funds ans policies, the recent Chinese locomotive looked promising but the track itself really needs an update. Public transportation in general sucks pretty bad specifically intra city transport. Road network is better so our bus network is so much more modern compared to railways and airplanes
It’s so sad that because of the ongoing political situation spanning many decades, Pakistan is so dangerous to travel through an otherwise beautiful country and that it needs armed guards on its railways - I have many Pakistani friends here in the U.K. and they confirm many of the things seen in this video, even though there was once a time that Pakistan was very careful about its international reputation - seeing the levels of poverty that so many ordinary Pakistani people are forced to endure within Pakistan itself is horrifying
Some parts of your videos, when paired with the correct music is just pure "adventurous spirit" vibes and I love it, you seem to enjoy it very much too. Would really love to enjoy adventures like yours too! ❤
I wish to watch Lahore station someday.. The architecture is interesting! Just maintainance and cleanliness is necessary to make it a tourist spot in itself...
the best train with the best view is the doğu ekspresi or the eastern express in Turkish. The travel is 27 hours long from Ankara to Kars. Should give it a try

Very wonderful video. Specially the railway station in lahore is very beautiful and very unique. But I wonder why there were barb wires and obstructles placed infront of station?. Anyhow Pakistan has very beautiful scenery.
As a Westerner, I just assume every train will have climate control and power. But as you travel the world, some of these creature comforts would be considered a luxury. That is also the fun of traveling by rail. Each train route has its own quirks and character.
South asian countries are developing countries. Currently only Indian railways have started modernization program. More than 300 trains will be replaced with new modern trains.
Due to the poor condition of the train and the even poorer condition of the track tracks and their poor safety record, I would NEVER EVER travel on any train there, and I am a huge railfan.
These youtubers are just for views do not give correct information about how bad is security situation in Pakistan where daily deadly terrorist attacks occurs.
It’s due to old interlocking system not being replaced and long length of the trains in this part of the world .. so due to multiple tracks and multiple old interlocking .. trains usually ply at the restricted speed as they have to snake 🐍 through from multiple loop lines on to the mainline … and the longer the train, the longer time it will take to cross the speed restricted section .. same happens at New Delhi station towards Sadar Bajar .. the bigger the station more would be track criss crossings and struggle to get on the mainline …
Indian local trains are still the same it's just local train you can travel in first class train or business class or green line those are good train's where you get your own private room air conditioner port to charge room service etc in very little price

It's sad that Pakistan's youth is dealing with a serious identity crisis. Also, we Indians don't view Pakistan's common people as enemy, like they do.
To be honest, this is all pretty good considering the circumstances. You can't of couse expect european quality, so you would definitely have to lower your expectations for this. I expected this train to be on the level of some of the most neglected and overcrowded trains out there, but it turns out to be pretty decent :)
I don't know how Pakistan's economy is, but the train ticket seems quite expensive to me.
That "european quality" in the imperial core comes from imperial domination of nations across the world, including Pakistanis.
This is the best you can get there for rail travel. This was First-Class coach journey in one of the best trains of Pakistan.
Anything below, you can imagine.
@@dr.cooper5909 Really no. Theres better and newer coaches now. Really just search up "pakistan train parlour coach" on google.

Pakistan Railways is in Shmables, British developed the infrastructure in both India and Pakistan but
Pakistan has not been able to maintain it due to lack of funds and excessive corruption. Meanwhile
India on the other hand has been very successful in developing and modernizing its rail infrastructure.
For example Indian railways has almost 90% network electrified and modern railway stations
while not even a single Km in Pakistan has been electrified since independence
Pakistan's railway network actually had more electrification 20 years ago than it does now. They had to remove electrification as the wires kept getting stolen.
@@SuperalbsTravels correct I know about this, well their trains are just pathetic, the stations have no facilities, infra is so poor and they just run 169 trains

While I'm not sure what the power button was for, the volume control is to control the volume of the announcements at the speaker nearest to the seat. The same can be found in Indian trains.

I find it interesting how they still operate trains like in the 30s
30s seems too long ago. It is more like they are operating it in the 80s.
Wonderful video! Happy to have found your channel. Very unfortunate to see racist comments however. It saddens me that people generalise a whole nation based upon a small minority of bad apples.
Indian Kashmir have better Railway than whole Pakistan 😂😂
Well, I agree with this
Indian Kashmir one is also pretty recent. I don't think it's fair comparison.
thats reality bro because indian kashmir hjas better rail way than remote area of india bcz kashmir railway lines are built recent decades

Pakistan is very safe country.

288km and 5hr? In Austria it takes like 2 hours for 350km
Looks like a horror movie. 💀
When I was just over the border in Amritsar some 5 years ago, it was foggy all the time. My flight was nearly cancelled because of it. But the Waga border is fantastic!
Chai for 100 Rs. in Pakistan? Seriously? In India in stalls it is just Rs. 10 and in some trains it is just Rs. 20...
Thanks alot for visiting & covering pak rail
Yeah, I hope one day they work to make things as amazing as they could be! And your story sounds grim! 😂
Many trains in India too has Armed guards on certain routes.
They are CRPF
Great trip report, you do this very well and make it interesting. Will definetly watch all your videos 😀
Glad you like them! Thanks! :)
Interesting. The train in India/Pakistan that interests me more so is the Samjauta Express. I want to travel by it some day. Lahore to Delhi.
Are you still living in 1950 ? There is no train in Delhi which go to Lahore
With all due respect and the lovely people, Pakistan is looking 40 years behind to its neighbours unfortunately 😢
It’s so sad that because of the ongoing political situation spanning many decades, Pakistan is so dangerous to travel through an otherwise beautiful country and that it needs armed guards on its railways - I have many Pakistani friends here in the U.K. and they confirm many of the things seen in this video, even though there was once a time that Pakistan was very careful about its international reputation - seeing the levels of poverty that so many ordinary Pakistani people are forced to endure within Pakistan itself is horrifying

when the last time British left till to current days still their railways still same as those days like. Pakistan never updated them. what a shame
Albie, this is your greatest video yet! It's really interesting to see a non biased western view of this part of the world, the only other creator I know of that does so is Bald and Bankrupt. Would you consider doing more of these?
4:41 There was a delay of only 1 minute?
Bloody heck that is a miracle lol
Very interesting. Is there a particular reason the trains operate so slowly when leaving Lahore? 🤔
I honestly have no idea, it made the file size of the departure clips so huge! 🤣
@@SuperalbsTravels 🤣🤣
It’s due to old interlocking system not being replaced and long length of the trains in this part of the world .. so due to multiple tracks and multiple old interlocking .. trains usually ply at the restricted speed as they have to snake 🐍 through from multiple loop lines on to the mainline … and the longer the train, the longer time it will take to cross the speed restricted section .. same happens at New Delhi station towards Sadar Bajar .. the bigger the station more would be track criss crossings and struggle to get on the mainline …
@@digvijayrana88 That's great, thanks for sharing with us!
