  • The XHDATA D-608WB AM FM Stereo Weather Alert Bluetooth MP3 Player Shortwave Emergency Radio has Quite a Few Options that most Radios in this Price Range Don't. In this video I scan the Morning Shortwave, Weather, and FM bands. I make a discovery with the Volume Threshold. It seems when you increase the Gain with a Wire, you overload the Amp Circuit for the Volume, and the Radio Sets it Low. You have to go over 25 to get the Volume back to normal. Interesting handling of the Speaker Volume.

I must've gotten a good one, because reception is great on all bands, especially FM. Mine has the updated firmware as well, so that might have something to do with it (the latest batch uses the v- button to toggle the 9/10 kHz tuning spacing on MW instead of the band button as with the older firmware versions).

I bought two of these when I they 1st came out from XHDATA for $27.88. And gave one to a friend. I like the MW and SW sensitivity but the FM is only average along with WB. I use it at night outside DX and for the built-in lights. It is good on the battery life , but if it my only radio I would use its older brother for direct tuning.

Since owning this radio I notice the tuning wheel is flimsy the automatic preset finder really helps especially if I want to try and get a station manually for DXING

I have this radio and it is great, I put rubber feet on the backside so it is more stable.

Hello, I agree with you. I also love my XHDATA D-608WB. I love that this XHDATA emergency radio has full coverage on the shortwave bands, and I have very nice reception on the FM and shortwave bands here in Sweden. Take care and have a lovely day.

Any other emergency radios with full shortwave band coverage 🔥?

Not off the top of my head, though you could count the CC Skywave SSB if you want Weather Alert Plus Full SSB SW Coverage. It lacks a Dynamo, but gives you Seventy Hours on Two AAs. Just keep a few fresh packs next to it, and you're golden. Same goes with the D-109WB, just keep extra batteries with it, or a portable solar panel to keep it charged.

Does the solar panel actually charge? I've tried 2 other radios and despite charging fully then putting in the sun the solar panel will not keep the radio charged.
