Just got mine yesterday. There was an issue with the temp reading about 7 degrees (F) low. It's much closer to normal today. Apparently the radio was a bit cold from shipping and needed about 10 hours to come to room temp. Excellent radio.
I liked it so much bought two, one to give to a friend whose radio is very weak. The built-in lights are enough to go camping on and nice not to be an extra flashlight. The radio in this unit is very good for pulling out weak MW and SW signals the only addition that I could think of is the ability to have SSB capability. I see two problems. 1st, the volume doesn't work when going up from a low level. It then jumps when it hits 24. The second is the solar panel was in the sun for a full week and not a single bar was added. I suspect because the back light comes on and then goes off and then back on and then off while solar charging.

The appearance reminds me of the old Spilsbury-Tindall SBX-11A bush radios used for communication in Canada's far north.

With mine the battery is completely death within 3 days in OFF postion. Any suggestions?
When I charge the radio by cable, its flashlight stays on. Is this normal?
