2 (3/8) socket extensions
T25 Torx socket
T55 Torx socket
Hex 5 socket

ATTN: VERY critical correction. I was a bit worried when I removed 5 litres (5.24 quarts) and this RUclipsr says just add 2.6 liters (2.7 quarts) Glad I always measure what I remove. Also mini owners can find all the mini models specs for fluids at mini mania, very helpful. Only adding 2.6 will ruin your transmission!!!!
I did say to measure and put in the amount you take out. But definitely a good reminder. Listen at 13:25
I was searching the internet for help with this and this is the only video I could find! This was super helpful and informative!!! Thanks for listing everything too 👌🏻
This is hands down the greatest RUclips video I’ve ever seen
I haven’t been able to drive my car in years and now I can finally fix it with this video!
What car?
You are the ultimate hero, Finally! Thank you for the information and video, big time!
Well done! Informative and professional!!
Very informative! 👍
Great video very well explained
Muito bom !!good!! Parabens pela dedicação essa informação é muito importante vamos fazer no brasil!!
Thank you!!
Great Video!!
How did you know how much to put back in did the fill area. Max out and fluid starts to come back out
I’m doing this job right now. I removed the pan as well. There’s also another drain plug behind this plug I’d recomend removing. I was able to remove 4 liters at first. I had to leave town for two days and let it sit with the pan off and came back to another half a quart in my catch can. In total, I removed the full system capacity which is 4.5 liters on a r60 countryman s with the aisin 6speed auto. Came here to see about filling procedures. I was able to remove the fill plug from below without removing the intake. I think I’m gonna use my pressurized garden sprayer with a hose rigged up like another youtuber did.
full system capacity is 6.3 quarts or 5.9 liters.
Probably the most attractive RUclipsr don’t @ me
THANK YOU!!
THANK YOU!!
THANK YOU!!!
How do you reset the transmission oil change oil light ? Does anyone know ?
I have anyhow another automatic transmission Aisin ... the Mini is 2014 - is it possible?
It is called overflow tube! That is how you check oil level! Have to do it when oil is hot! And engine running!
Correct, you fill the transmission through the filler tube behind the drain plug with the engine running until it drips down . Correct fill amount with filter is around 4.3 quarts
mine is at 100k and ive just drained the transmission fluid thinking it would extend the life of the car--did not realize i may be doing more harm. what should i do?
Why are those wheels not chocked?
Hello , good video thank you . Do you know if there is also a filter in the pan to change ?
Yes there is a filter in the pan. If you are going to drop the pan make sure to get a new gasket as well
How do you like the way RedLine D4 fluid works in this AISIN GA6F21WA 6-speed Automatic? does it seem to shift better or the same?
I never had any shifting issues so I'd say it shifts the same. But I do have good, smooth up and down shifts
Disculpa podrías traducirlo al español, cuantos litros lleva la transición automática, tengo un vehículo contramano 2013 motor 4.2
Thank you 👍
Awesome video man props to you very well explained !
My car is stuck in 3rd gear
It won’t downshift
From standstill 1 & 2 gears work
Once 3rd is engaged …..it won’t upshift or downshift
What could be the issue
Please help
Did you ever figure it out? Mine is doing the same thing now.
thank you
Hi! is the 2012 transmission cvt? i hope not. 😭
No the 2012 comes in a regular 6-speed auto or 6-speed manual
Would this be the same on a 2015 Paceman?
Yes, the procedure will be the same
What forums do you use to research these problems?
I pieced it together based on quite a few forums, but mostly used northamericanmotoring.com
I used the responses to the Mini Cooper problems from the same generation.
@@icefire776 thanks for that, I have a 2014 countryman and my transmission might be slipping. Gonna check the oil and maybe change it. Will most definitely be using this video for that
@@albertorodriguez6719 good luck! Mine shifted much smoother afterward
Hi what’s the oil amount for a 2008 118i automatic e81 petrol please so I know how much to buy thanks
Is it safe to use non original transmission fluid? :/
Yes. Auto manufacturers do not make transmission fluid, so they also just select a compatible fluid and call it their own. In my searches the Redline Synthetic D4 ATF is just as good or better than original. If you do more searches you can probably find other brands as well.
A simple dipstick would have been so much faster. Thanks Mini.
Couldn't you just put a long funnel if you don't have a pump and hose
Can never trust the car had the right fluid level. Pump more in and let out the excess. Remember to keep car level and watch the temp 35 to 45C (or 95 to 115F).
So is this video for the Steptronic transmission?
No, from what I can tell the steptronic was introduced in 2018
I have a mini cooper s countryman 2011 steptronic
If all you are changing is 2.6 quarts, why don't we do it by taking out a bolt from the side of transmission like someone on RUclips?
There is no drain bolt on the side of the transmission. If you saw a drain bolt on the side, it must be a different transmission or different car.
@@icefire776 Drain in the differential pan. They share the fluid.
This is not the right way to do it.
You are not replacing the torque converter fluid neither the valve body fluid.
You are not replacing the transmission filter neither.
NO LO SILVEN EN ESPAÑOL
Worst way to do it is shown in this video.
1. You pump from the bottom. No need to tear down an entire engine bay
2. You MUST replace / wash the filter.
3. You MUST clean the magnets
4. You MUST start the engine, warm it up. Run through gears 10-15 times. Without shutting down the engine remove the drain plug from the bottom (not the plastic pipe just the bolt) and drain the excess fluid usually 50ml.
5. The whole thing (steps 1-4) must be done 3-4 times. It takes 6.3 quarts and this guy replaced only 2.5 lol.
6. If you never replaced the fluid don't touch it on anything higher than 60k miles.
How do you pump from the bottom??
@@casenanderson8860 literally using a pump. Either manual or electric
Did you have any problems with subframe clearance when dropping the pan?
@@jakepollard8093 Yep, I drilled a hole right above the EOM subframe screw is to access the oil pan screw. I asked many(5) countryman owners before doing it and they all confirmed that it is safe. It took 5 mins.
Thanks for the pretty critical correction. I was a bit worried when I removed 5 litres (5.24 quarts) and this guy says oh just add 2.6 liters (2.7 quarts) Glad I always measure what I remove. Also mini owners can find all the mini models specs for fluids at mini mania, very helpful.
