As someone who's had to have, over the past year: multiple smear tests, vaginal surgery, a camera shoved down my throat and into my stomach, had to pee in front of three people while my bladder was monitored, and am now having bowel issues which will probably require a colonoscopy, I appreciate everyone being more open about these "embarrassing" health problems.

Now, she is in the ICU, dying because she had cancer in her colon and it has spread everywhere else in her body. I just said goodbye to her today, the doctors say she will pass within 24 hours. Thank you Phil for making this video because maybe if my friend had gone to the doctor sooner she could have been saved, so maybe this video could have even saved a life. I watched this, then set an appointment with a gastroenterologist, and was so worried. She of course set up an endoscopy and colonoscopy, along with other tests. I have now been diagnosed with severe gastritis, and I'm in the process of being diagnosed with Crohn's disease. I want to say thanks for making the video. It gave me a lot of comfort during my procedures and really made me feel better about the issues I'm having. It normalized something that is often seen as taboo and gave me the push I needed.

I’m so glad Phil talked about anxiety with going to a hospital. As someone who’s grown up in a toxic household that consisted of parents who didn’t want me (a disabled person) to go to the hospital when I needed to, I ended up developing anxiety when it comes to going to the hospital, to the point where I went several months not going when I knew I had injured one of my ankles and that caused me to develop tendinitis due to my fear of what my parents would do if I asked to go to the hospital. If I had just gone regardless of what they thought I would have a minimum of two less disorders than I do now. I now have to live the rest of my life with tendinitis, an eye lid disorder, and a few other disorders/disabilities which most could have been prevented if I had gotten help when I needed it.
So, no matter what, if you are in doubt about anything in your body functioning correctly, or if you think you might be sick or having something broken, go to the doctor just in case. The only things that can happen is you go and they find nothing so you know you’re okay, or they find something and start fixing from the start when it can most likely be cured, vs waiting and possibly developing an incurable disorder/disability that you’ll live with for the rest of your life (and was preventable).

I remember being really embarrassed when I had to take off my bra for a chest x-ray. I was already embarrassed from just being in that gown with just my undergarments on, but I dunno the bra thing just kind of shot that through the roof. The nurse who had wheeled me there and back on the stretcher could tell though, and she just assured me that lots of people had to do the same thing and comforted me about it. It was during when the quarantine was just starting, so it was the first time I didn't have my mom with me (which had made me super nervous about everything as well) and I think that nurse could tell that I was just super uncomfortable with everything and she did her best to assure me for the majority of my visit. I remember that nurse well because she was super sweet and reassuring during the whole ordeal. I appreciated it a lot tbh.

It is so important to be confident with your doctor. I had this weird bump on my breast for over a year until I got it checked. Didn't want to go, because I kept telling myself it's nothign bad, it doesn't hurt and I didn't want to show my bare chest to an adult (I was 15 at the time). But when I realized that this "bump" isn't going away I went to see the doctor and it turned out that I had a third nipple, that apparently started growing while I was in puberty.
Nipple³ is still there, I call him Alfted and he's cool. But you guys have no idea, how relieved I was, that it actually wasn't anything bad.
So thanks Phil, for raising awareness, that our bodys all are weird and strange, but our doctors really don't care. Or to put it in the words of my doctor "If you actually have something we've never seen before you'll get famous and we'll write about you in medical journals"

My mom was the poster girl for early cancer detection twice, once by colonoscopy, once by stereotactic guided needle breast biopsy. She was a long term cancer survivor. Thanks for opening this dialogue.

I've literally just gone through the exact same thing and I've been so worried and scared about it all. They think I might have a mild case of Crohns disease so I do have something wrong with me, but nothing sinister. Seeing you make this video has made me realize how common this stuff really is and honestly admire you a lot for bringing up. It's just kinda cool to see a RUclipsr I've watched since I was 12 go through the same thing. Youve made me feel a lot less worried and less alone because it really is so common for young people to get GI symptoms. Thank you

this video was almost comforting to me in a way as weird as that may sound because i have crohn’s disease so these procedures are normal for someone to have with the condition and sometimes it can be embarrassing to talk about so thank u for making this video and making it funny ! makes me feel better

Probably means you have strong cervical muscles. A lot of women suffer from not having very strong muscles in that area because we don't have to squat down to pee and such, so we don't exercise it very much. How awkward is having one of those exams? I've never had one before and I dread the day I have to.

@the incarnation of boredom it's not awkward at all the appointments take about 15 minutes and they're super chill :) i had to have the endoscopy surgery in january as the smear before that showed i had pre cancerous cells! Luckily it was caught in time and i got the all clear^^

I had a cancer scare 2 years ago, and I remember actually being in the line for my ii show when I got the phone call saying they couldn’t discuss my results on the phone and I’d need to come in for them. It was scary, but honestly I’m glad they told me 45 minutes before I met you and Dan because getting a hug and being told you would be thinking about me and hoping I’m okay really eased my nerves. 2 years later I’m relieved it wasn’t cancer but I do have fibromyalgia so thank you for being there for me that day and spreading the message that it’s okay to get things checked out even if it might just be nothing ❤️

I always feel the need to make a joke in an uncomfortable doctor situation when I was 14 I got a load of hives on my legs so I went to the doctor and when she asked me to take my trousers down I went "oo, we've only just met" I legitimately did this.
