Can a cheap cymbal expand Roland SPD SX Pro?

Can a cheap cymbal expand your Roland SPD SX Pro?
In this video I plug a cheap, off brand cymbal from a Carlsbro electronic drum kit into my Roland SPD SX Pro sampling pad. Will it make any sound at all or will it not work? Sometimes we want to upgrade our drum gear but don't always want to pay Roland money, particularly if it's just to try out a setup or experiment creatively. Hopefully this idea shows you what you can create for not a lot of money or time.
Later in the video I also talk about plugging in a fake bass drum trigger to the SPD SX Pro and whether or not that operates as it should.
