    If you have a TD 17, sell your pads and replace them with the PD105 and the PD85 pads, you will find the difference to be night and day.
    I have played the TD20 module through a PA, but not the TD 12. If the TD 12 is a mini TD 20, then it will sound exceptional for stage work. Further, you can always route it through Superior Drummer, to acquire even better sounds. Additionally, you can purchase a Midi to USB interface and connect the TD12 to your laptop.

      @@samueldette6401 Honestly? Not really. Its been 2 years, and I enjoy playing it once I got used to the pads. What really helped was getting DrumTec TD17 Module sounds. Loaded those in and the kit sounds super realistic compared to before and especially the cymbals now sound almost too good to compare to actual cymbals. Definitely such a great kit and very portable and easy to setup.

    The Roland TD-12KV and the Millenium MPS-850 have the same amount of parts and the rest is similar too. Of course the Roland has better build quality, more sounds and a slightly better module but how's it that the Roland is well over $2000 and the Millenium about $650? Because their physical difference is not as great as the price difference..
    Btw, I've combined a Millenium MPS-850 with an Alesis Turbo Mesh on one rack. Wann see that?

    Thank you very doing this video. I have had this kit for 10 years, and play it every day when home. The only thing I have had to replace is one rubber hoop on a rack Tom, as I had some set up as a cymbal. After finally destroying the head on the kid-85, I went and bought a kd-9, and actually prefer the feel, big enough for double-kick, and barely moves!! I have destroyed rugs and floors with those spiked feet in the 85. My module does have the lines in the display screen, but totally useable and works no issues. For the past 1.5 years I have been triggering with Superior drummer 2, and it’s awesome. NOTE: Due to the lack of USB, I highly recommend buying the Roland UM-one midi to USB cable. It’s not cheap, but works damn near flawlessly.
    I have been wondering for years what would be best pads and pieces to use for those additional two aux inputs to fill this out, and our customization ideas sound perfect! Bigger snare (though I never really though it was too small...) and the extra Tom, and a better ride which gives way to another crash..awesome!
    Thanks again!

      All I can say is I have never had a problem with my display, I guess it's just pot luck, as far as the sounds go; I've never used any module that had more than 2 or 3 bass or snare drum samples that I really liked, but at least you can modify them in the td12 and the onboard sliders make it ideal for live work.
      The V Link feature is not covered in this video and that is another powerful live tool that can make your band look a thousand times more professional if you want to spring for a projector.
      Overall, if I could afford a td30 module I would buy one but I don't feel at all limited with the 12 for gigs.

      Camilo Venegas The TD-12 has better triggering capabilities. It is definitely an improvement, however I would do that but only with Superior Drummer 3, not with version 2.

    Do you think the TD-12 is better than the TD-11 in terms of dynamics and triggering? I use the TD-11 with SD3 and I’m thinking if I should upgrade to the TD-12 to have better expressiveness to take advantage of the Drum-tec Pro snare I just bought. Would I get better expressiveness or are more inputs and Positional Sensing all I would get? - not that these are bad things 😄

    • @Vdrumtips1
      @Vdrumtips1  5 лет назад +1

      Lorenzo Franchini The TD-12 is more expressive, however also slower in terms of latency. It does make sense in your case, because of the snare and SD3. But keep in mind, the TD-12 sounds are not as good and the module is from 2005-2012, while the TD-11 is from 2012-2017.

    Hi. Lovely video about my trusty td12. Questions:. How do you connect it to pc/mac? By midi to usb cable directly or through a sound interface ( say Presonus, Focusrite or even Roland capture )? How do you then update to the latest version of the firmware ? Can you detail the whole procedure please ? Thanks !!!!!!

    • @Vdrumtips1
      @Vdrumtips1  5 лет назад

      jeffroganesh Well that depends on the interface. I cannot describe the update procedure of any possible interface:) The best way is to go to the website of the interface manufacturer and check for updates. They most likely publish a workflow.

    I tell everyone this! Somehow everyone discredits this unit and swears by the td-17 which is pretty close in price now on the secondary market. The sounds kinda suck but you can tweak them and get em sounding decent if you take the time to dial in eq ,compression, and all the other editing features available. For $400-$600 range I’d take the td-12 over a td-17 all day

      It is always a good idea to upgrade from CY-13 to CY-15. However, it depends on the way you want to use the module. So there is no general answer to your question. Check the strengths of the TD-12 and see if those match your way of using it.

      It is subjective as to what better sounds are but it depends what you want to use the module for, if you want to play live the TD 12 is a better option because of the onboard sliders.
      The importance of having your own mixer on stage cannot be overstated, and yeah as everyone says; spend some time editing the sounds to your liking.

      Chris Bell Bigger shells are always more tricky to trigger. I would recommend a quality trigger (R-Drums or RT-30) and a good mesh head (Roland , Drum-tec). IN the module: Download the user manual and learn all trigger parameters. Try to understand them and you will be able to cancel the double hits.

      Thanks for that, the manual is a good idea lol, (I actually have one written on paper lol)last night I cured it with some rubbish practice pads I purchased, placed between the head and rim but, this increased the volume immensely and not really acceptable, still less than acoustic kits though (this might help people with the Yamaha ead10 mesh heads scenario) thanks again for sparing the time, Chris.
