    I’m the mama who put together 18 flex binders together for the whole year last year. It has been the best year! I love Abeka accredited and the flex binder system! I’ve been using Abeka with all my 3 girls since preschool 2 and 3 program! This year I just finished putting together 16 binders! So much easier the second time around. 4 th was a little challenge because of learning her revised 4 th grade curriculum and book reports etc but I can’t say enough thank you to you for sharing this system! I told my mom about this all so. She homeschools her 2 grand children. I sent her to your channel.

This just makes me so happy to know that this system worked so well for your entire family too! 4th grade was definitely a year of adjustment for us too, especially since he was coming in from the public school setting. 5th grade seemed so much smoother for my son! I love this! It is so well organized. Great Job Momma!!! This is my first year using Abeka with my children. Your flow is really inspiring; knowing exactly when each thing is to be taught. I love that layout. I will be teaching my two oldest Abeka 3rd grade (no videos). And my youngest ABeka k5. What might be the benefits to setting up flex binders for each of them as supposed to just handing them their full workbooks each day? Before I get to tearing; I feel like I need a little more info. If you had any insight why this method might be better (as it looks better to me, but nervous to start ripping, lol). Thanks!

      I'm so happy that you like it! thank you! We will be doing k5 this year with our daughter and 5th grade with our son and we do the videos. Great Question! The reason why I love this binder system is because I have the whole quarter set up in one place and I don't have to worry about having so many workbooks ready every day. My husband and I both do the homeschooling and we both work, so sometimes our kids homeschool out of our home, so we like our materials to be very mobile and fit in one backpack. Since we did accredited, all the work was all in one place for me when I sent out the progress reports. For me I just fell like it's more efficient.

      @@JoyfulYessi That makes sense! I know you are busy and I appreciate the response!!! Thank you so much! I really like how you pointed out in one of your videos the curriculum is a tool that you use to work for you; not the other way around. I really see this system as a way you use it to work for your family needs versus being a slave to it. I like that. I really think this could help the day flow better for my kids; and possibly making homeschool on the go more of an option; just one binder versus many big consumables. Thanks for sharing this helpful video!

    Hi, I was wondering if you purchased the Digital Teaching Slides, they are an extra $60 and they are mentioned in the Lesson Plans. I read that they are an aid but I wonder if you used them or what you thought of them?

    • @JoyfulYessi
      @JoyfulYessi  2 месяца назад

      We didn’t find it necessary to purchase them for our family. I feel that the video lessons have been very thorough and sufficient for our kids. One thing that we did get our son was multiplication and division flash cards because he really needed to practice those and he used the cursive formation guide that comes in the penmanship book. I laminated it for him and he would refer to that often. Besides that, we haven’t purchased any additional aids 🤗

      @reydavinci It sounds to me like you are doing parent led, if that’s the case then you don’t need the video. We do the academy, so we purchase the entire curriculum as a kit with the video instruction. We absolutely love it, especially because we are also working parents, it just makes it so much easier for us and the concepts are taught very well.

      Yes we did! For the biographies my son did 2 from the “Who Was” books, they met the 100 page requirement and are high interest! We also did one on “Frindle” which my son also enjoyed reading. If I remember correctly the first 2 were done using the books that came in the curriculum. We read the books together by alternating taking turns to read. I hope this answered your question🤗 Let me know! I did a video of 4th grade Abeka end of year review on my channel that I explained it a little bit more on how we did it that might be more helpful.

      For our state book I got a very easy reader from Amazon that really answered a lot of the questions in the state book it was called “Pennsylvania, What’s So Great About This State”. I also had him do some research online, and he also looked up pictures to put in the notebook. For the quizzes and tests, I just made them using the questions provided in the back of the video manual. We ended our state into with a trip to a local maple farm, because it is one of the things that is made locally around here in PA, and we saw the process for making maple syrup and the. Made our own too 🤩 it was quite fun. What state are you guys in?

      @madisonshults9135 it really up to the person. Some prefer the accredited for accountability reasons. Hi there! I’m so glad to hear that you have found this helpful! Your 1st year! How exciting! Are your video manuals backed up? Based on our sons 4th & 5th grade they seem to all follow the same format. Bible first (doesn’t need a binder section) then arithmetic, reading, language, spelling, history, science (i didn’t do a section In The binder for penmanship) if you have the dvds you can pop it in just to double check that’s the order, that’s the ordered that we follow. However, if you want to you can change the order of the subjects that you want your kiddos to work on. 🤗 I am planning on making a more detailed video on how I organize the binder for our son for this year’s 5th grade But, if you want to check out my end of year curriculum review for 4th grade, I talk in there about how we structured our homeschool days. I did that one not too long ago. That might be helpful in giving you a better idea on how it went for us and some modifications that we did. I hope this is helpful 🤗 You got this💪🏻 God Bless!

    Hi! We're starting to homeschool my daughter with 4th grade abeka academy soon. We're actually withdrawing her from public school so we're kinda starting awkwardly. Do you have any recommendations on how we can sort through the curriculum so she's not starting on day 1?

    • @JoyfulYessi
      @JoyfulYessi  Год назад +1

      How exciting! 🤗 I really think it depends on where your daughter left off in her previous school. Based on our experience, I have to say that I think starting from the beginning might be best for math, language & spelling for sure because the skills do seem to spiral, so the teacher teaches some concepts and steps that are used through out the lessons. We have found that it was much more rigorous than what our son was used to, and adapting to the concept of homeschooling was definitely an adjustment! So having some simpler concepts at the beginning helped with not getting too discouraged and frustrated. We are 2 months into the school year, and he has adjusted well. So maybe give the first week a try, see how she does with it and if she seems to be flying through maybe try moving her ahead around lesson 40 & see how she does 🤗 I hope that this is helpful.

    • @JoyfulYessi
      @JoyfulYessi  2 года назад

      Great question! 🤗 I’m keeping everything in the binder until the end of the quarter. At the end of the quarter I’ll remove that quarters material and add the next quarter’s material. Since we are doing the accredited version I have to mail in the progress reports and mail in the tests with it. Here in PA we have to have a portfolio of student work and an evaluator check it, so I’m going to keep his work in hanging folders by subject in a bin for my evaluator to check. Then after the end of the year I’ll just toss🙂 I hope that this answered your question 🤗 thank you so much for watching!

I was definitely not use to it and felt that the work load was a lot with abeka (especially the accredited version) ! I felt like quitting at times. But I have got to say it’s a lot better now. We have gotten more into a groove of things and my son (4th grade) and daughters (9th and 10th grade) have been learning so much. I am so glad we stuck through it. The bond and memories we are creating is totally worth it and I wouldn’t change it for the world! I cant believe we are ending the second quarter already! In the appendix on the back of the video Manuel there’s a section that has the quarterly progress reports to fill out, I used that to determine when the work quarter ended. As for the specific dates, when you log into your Abeka account it’ll say when the work has to be submitted by, they use the full 12 months instead of 9. I personally just follow my school district’s quarterly dates for our own personal pacing just because we have to have our evals submitted to the district by the end of June. 🙂
