I love the way you have organized your homeschooling and I fully plan on using your system while giving it my own twist to suit our family! I am excited to start this new chapter in our lives. We are homeschooling my two little ones ages 5 and 3. I have always wanted to homeschool because my husband and I were both homeschooled (him in Memphis and me in Texas) but our biggest reason is because our youngest child was born with a genetic disease called Cystic Fibrosis. He gets sick easily and is in the hospital at least once a year.

I chose to not use the videos and received alot of flashcards and charts along with the same book I see here got the paperwork sorted. Do you add in the flashcard those by week also or do you like to wait until the night before then pull them out? I trying to make life easy as possible for myself having three boys. God bless you keep inspiring.

    • @JGFamilyLife
      @JGFamilyLife  4 года назад +3

      Your so welcome!!! So glad it helped you!! I pul out the flashcards by week and either use a mini clip by day if that makes sense and put a postie on it stating which day I will use them or u can get some quart size storage bags and put them in there and put a poster inside the bag so it won't be able to fall off and get mixed up. You can even go so far as to drop that bag in the week that your going to be working on so when you pull that weeks works, you already have the flashcards sorted. If some cards roll to the next week just add then to the flashcards for the next week. I last last I did that make work is get a photo album that holds 4×6 pictures and put them in there by in the order they will learn. I hope these options help! Let me know which one you think will work for you or if you come up with something more clever cause I could always learn something new as well 😁

    • @JGFamilyLife
      @JGFamilyLife  4 года назад

      Yes! It absolutely drove me crazy! lol What you can do is put the week in a 3 prong folder and when you get to the end of the week, only rotate out the completed worksheets and add in the new ones behind the one-sided sheet that's complete. I'm actually trying out spiral binding some of my books as well as using the crate system.
      You can also try to only do like 6 weeks using the system and see if you like it and if not, try spiral binding them. Hopefully, this helps. :)

I’ve even went on RUclips and looked up the actual concept I’m trying to help them with. I was even told you can call a college and find out if those students need any volunteer hours and they can tutor them at the library that way you can can tutoring for free. Hopefully some of these ideas can help. Bju press even has a packet of hand manipulatives to help visualize the concept. Do your 6th grader have a dvd or you teaching yourself?

    • @JGFamilyLife
      @JGFamilyLife  4 года назад +4

      @@heathersettles132 when you go on Amazon just look up for example, red file folders with 1/3 cut tab. Then check the box count. Most of then have 36 folders per box so if you have 36 weeks of school then your good and then look up green file folders and check the box count or whichever colors your kiddos want. If you only need 36 folders for 36 weeks then you only need one box per color. If you need 37 for a 37 week school year, personally i wouldn't buy a whole another box. I would put that last week in the back of the crate without a folder and then when your 1st week of school is done I would rotate that folder to the back to put that last week if work in it. So I have a question :) I am trying to be cost efficient as best I can with homeschooling curriculum . I was thinking about doing the crate system like you and had a thought about maybe after I tear the pages out I could make a copy of the worksheets so my younger child would be able to use them the next year. Do you think that this would work or would it pay us to just buy new workbooks the next year? Thank you new subscriber here

    • @JGFamilyLife
      @JGFamilyLife  4 года назад +4

      Hi! Making copies for the next child is always great but can be costly depending on how many pages it is plus it's the front and the back. since your being cost effective I was thinking that maybe when u tear the pages out you can put the worksheets for that week in sheet protectors that you can buy from the dollar store or Walmart and your child could use a dry erase marker. This way u can just pull out the sheets when your child is done and file them away for the next child. What do you think about that idea?
