    I’ve literally been binge watching your videos. I’m so grateful for this. I literally have whole tubs with 3 ring binders for each grade, which is way too much. This is so much simpler, and more condensed. Im definitely doing this.
    Bless you, and thanks for being a blessing to us.

    This video is so helpful! I have been looking for a detailed video like this on record keeping. We currently homeschool in CA through a Charter School, but I have been feeling the tug to file the PSA. Your system is amazing!

      Janelle Knutson For sure. Hoping to make it. Is there any possibility of you refilming this video as most wrap up the school year?

    Very informative and this video made it seem less scary! Lol I’m currently homeschooling my 4-year old through a charter (in California) but after this year I’m thinking of pulling him out and independently homeschool. When my son enters kindergarten next year do I file a PSA or is that optional since he won’t be 6 yrs of age?
    Thank you so much for making this video!

    • @JanelleKnutson
      @JanelleKnutson  5 лет назад +3

      Filing the affidavit is only needed when your son will be 6 by Sept. 1 of the current school year. That means you can homeschool him in kindergarten without any paper work at all! I'm glad this video was helpful for you. Homeschooling privately in CA is such a great option. Make sure to check out CHEA. They are a great resource for information on homeschooling in CA. www.cheaofca.org

      Janelle Knutson that’s awesome! It gives me a whole year to practice my record keeping before legally filing the following year. Thanks again and I’ll definitely look into that website :)

      Wish I could. We are in the midst of a major move from California to Idaho. All of our stuff has been packed up for 2 months. I have a lot of videos planned for the new school year though.... once I get into a new home and get everything unpacked!

    Hi Janelle, came across your video with the much needed information I was looking for. I am also in California and will be homeschooling. I have a question if you don't mind. I've been searching all the internet trying to find out if immunizations where required for home schooled children. I was assuming it wasn't required and that it's only mandatory for public schools. But I came across a website stating home-school students must be vaccinated but parents are not required to keep records of immunizations but may have to present it if asked upon by your local school district...on the CHEA website it gives a waiver form for health examination but also notes on the waiver that this form does not exclude my child from receiving immunizations. -So what's the point of the waiver? I do not wish to vaccinate any of my children so are immunizations mandatory for home schooled students in the state of California? If so, is there a way I can exclude them from receiving vaccines?

      JC * as of right now, privately homeschooled children do not have to be vaccinated. Private homeschool means you file an affidavit in October and do not use a public program or charter to homeschool. If you join HSLDA, they can answer all your legal questions and keep you up to date as laws can change.

    Hello, thank you for sharing in detail so much of your approach and organization as well as curriculum! I am curious if you also keep digital records of these? Thank you!

    • @JanelleKnutson
      @JanelleKnutson  2 года назад +1

      I do not keep digital records (with the exception of high school transcripts). However, if you prefer digital over paper then you can do something similar but in digital folders. Hope that helps.

    HI Janelle! I am having issues with filing ALL the students work in the folder. I took samples form beginning, middle, and end for each subject and my folder is HUGE!! I am not sure if I am doing it correctly...Do you just take 1 page or a few from beginning, middle, end? Also, with test/quizzes do you take samples from beginning, middle, end with those or do you keep all and file those as well? If I do that, I would not have room in my 1st grade folder for my daughter. Am I filing too much or do yours look like that as well?

    • @JanelleKnutson
      @JanelleKnutson  4 года назад

      It really depends on how much you want to keep (and also if your state requires you to keep a certain amount of samples.) My problem is usually wanting to keep too much because my kids worked so hard on them! Projects and art work I snap a picture of and store digitally. I do not keep all the tests and quizzes. Actually, I only keep a few for the high school years and even then only if the tests were a major part of the grade. The samples are more for me to look back on than for anything else since I have homeschooled in states where sample work is not required to be kept.

    • @sarahsmith5077

      Janelle Knutson, I live in KS...so we do not have specific laws on keeping homeschool records. It is a very good state to Homeschool! I am doing record keeping now, because with my husbands job, we could end up in a different state. I didn’t know if your file folder was suppose to be packed or if I was taking too many pages per subject. In regards to test and quizzes, I wasn’t sure whether I should file them ALL or just keep a few for each subject? I will store them in a tote just to have and look back on. But, any advice or suggestions would be appreciated ;-) Thanks!

      GOD IS MY SAVIOR you can do the same type of thing in a binder if you prefer to store all the records and samples of work in binders on shelves. 😊

    What do you do if you need to keep homeschool but you're not going by grades and you don't answer teach each grade year for instance 8 year old child who would traditionally be in third grade you teach 2nd 3rd and 4th grade work too

    • @JanelleKnutson
      @JanelleKnutson  6 лет назад +4

      Just label each tab with the year (not grade). For example, 2016-2017 and 2017-2018.Hope that helps!
