MERRY CHRISTMAS :D
je vous souhaite un joyeux Noel merci pour vos vidéo ...
Merry christmas
Thanks again, another great video. Nadolig Llawen iawn.
Great lessons, I learned so much! MERRY CHRISTMAS
Watching this video, I was wondering if you ever worked on a STP 111 movement, another clone of the ETA 2824 (or maybe the Seagull directly), as there are speculations about the fact some parts would be chinese made. I was looking to buy a Zodiac watch that has it, I love those, but hesitate to pull the trigger since they belong to the Fossil group.
Thank you for your videos that always are very informative.
Happy holidays!
Because of you, I have really small screwdrivers, and my wife asks me before she vacuums my "nerd cave"
Ha ha ha. Nice comment.
Your wife vacuums your nerd cave for you? WTH.....
You don't mean your mom by accident, do you? ;)
You have a wonderful wife if she does that
🤣🤣 Very Confused
As an absolute beginner I'm always very fascinated on how you're dismantling and reassembly any watch with some very precise and steady movements, while your top notch macro shootings make me believe I can also try to thread this path only to find those microscopic pieces need a great dexterity and patience to go back where they should, and at this moment I get lost more than not.
I still have to understand how to apply the experience and knowledge acquired on one movement to a different one that may also have different complications or slightly different solutions for the same functions.
Your videos are priceless, thanks a lot.
Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.
I am currently servicing a ST2130 used in a original Sea Gull-watch. I got the impression that those movements used for their own brand are kind of better quality than those sold to other brands.
And those ETA-clones produced today obviousely are of better manufacturing quality than those made a couple of years ago.
If you check out their website, they show a picture of a lately made ST2130. Optically, there is no difference to the orignal ETA2824-2, at all.
Certainly a handful of guys don't know how to produce a bad video and Mark is one of them. Thanks for the very interesting content and wish you a wonderful 2019!
First youtuber watch repair I've seen oil contact points on moving parts.... Great job.. others just jewels
I have no idea what I just watched other then something short of a miracle. I have no idea how long it took you to learn how to strip and re assemble a watch but im very impressed. I would loose my mind, something I could only dream of doing. Fantastic to watch. I may have to re watch a few times as its mesmerizing
Thanks Mark, after many years of wanting to get into watches, I found your channel and have never looked back! Keep up the great work :-)
I have to say you have made something I would imagine most people would find quite boring and made it absolutely fascinating! It has made me want to pull my watches apart to see how they work! Well done and keep it up!
Great video! As someone new to watch repair (as a hobby) I enjoyed seeing the oiling process you went through during the rebuild of this movement, especially the keyless works. I am also please to hear that Seagull makes an acceptable product.
Very useful evaluation of the Clone 2824. It's disconcerting but expected that Chinese movement manufacturers are starting to catch up to Swiss movement makers. It will be interesting to see how Swiss movement makers will adapt to the competition.
Absolutely
Your steady hands are a marvel Mark! Thank you for posting yet ANOTHER invaluable video for those across the globe. Your efforts have inspired many! (myself included)
Hope the new year is a prosperous one for you!
I find that, since beginning to watch your channel, I am enjoying my small watch collection much more. I can better understand the complexity and engineering, as well as the craftmanship as I view the movements! Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Just found your video about 30 mins ago and just love it. The careful disassembling of the watch movements and reassembling them with such precision. You know your job.
I am not surprised the watch industry are taking cruel for the electrical industry. They restricting spares, will make more fake and crones to be manufactured. These industry are just dump.
Great video sir
Merry Christmas to us! Thanks for the surprise video. This movement really was getting it done, with just a basic clean and some lubrication you got it within COSC standard.
Micro mechanics at the highest level. I would love to be able to do this. As a child I would gaze for hours at the open back of my grandfathers pocket watch and wonder at all those little bits came together to tell the time.
Merry Merry! I have a Sea Gull Chinese Military watch and really do enjoy it. I also very much enjoy your channel. The free content has taught me so much and helped me improve my watch repair skills, I can only imagine that the paid content will take it to another level.
Thank you very much!
Great video, Mark. I learn a lot by watching your videos and reading your forum. I hope to be able to disassembly & reassemble an ETA 7750 someday. And still have it work. Taking it apart and putting it back together isn't the hard part. The hard part is having it STILL WORK when I'm done.
I've been a subscriber for several years now and look forward to many more installments on the channel to come. you inspired me to begin working on watches many years ago, and I've been doing so ever since. I really enjoyed your older style videos, as well as the new ones, and was wondering if your might be doing a full service , or diagnostic and repair series as you have done in the past? It would be interesting to see a take down and reassembly of a high end Japanese movement as in the king seikos or possibly a spring drive in a grand seiko. Another suggestion would be to review the new Ronda 150 movement. Either way, keep the videos coming as I enjoy all of them, and with any luck I might win one of your repair course subscriptions since I seem to learn the most from your videos and would some day like to take your course. Best wishes, hope you had a great Christmas and are looking forward to a fantastic new year. Thanks for all you are doing to inspire so many people. Rick.
I am constantly amazed at the intricacies of repair and servicing.
Merry Christmas Mark, always a good day when I get notification of a new video, thanks for the effort you put in providing these videos 👍
New upload! A Merry Christmas indeed! Thank you!
This mirrors my experience exactly. I've worked on a great many replicas that use the Shanghai 2824 out of the box and my tip if they really like the watch when I get it in for a dial swap or service is to change the movement to at least a Seagull if not an SW200 or a Soprod P024. In my opinion the Seagull is pretty much on par with those two and I would only recommend them over the Seagull if the client wanted a genuine Swiss movement for the sake of it being a Swiss movement.
Merry Christmas! I love your videos, it's very interesting to see you take a watch apart and put it back together.
Merry Christmas, Mark! Thanks for an excellent informative video. Being an amateur watch repairer who enjoys helping family an friends and coworkers with their homological needs, this is helpful for deciding whether to stock up on costly ETA movements or parts, or use clones. Many, many thanks for your ongoing encouragement. I am hoping to sign up soon when I retire and have more time for this passion.
So therapeutic. Love this channel and I have learned so much from it. Keep posting.
Dear Mark, Merry Christmas and happy new year.. Thank you for keeping your promise to review this movement, great video too, thanks.
Just stumbled across this channel. Awesome, subscribed. Never stop learning.
Merry Xmas Mark. Thanks for doing these videos and the watch repair talk Forum. It's a gold mine of information.
My pleasure.
I have learned so much from you. It's nice when someone shares their knowledge bc they want to. Merry Christmas. CHEERS!
Cheers for the feedback
I love your videos. I work on large bore engines and compressors for a living it's terribly noisy, dirty, and heavy work. Watch repair intrigues me greatly as a counterpoint to the mechanical beasts with which I am familiar. Looking forward to more videos. Merry Christmas and happy New year!
Thank you for this video, recently purchased a Dongfeng watch with this movement - Seagull re-issue.
Merry Christmas, Mark. A very relaxing and easy to understand video as usual! I have learned so many little fine details from you, especially naming of parts and lubricants. Makes my hobby more fun and hopefully lucrative in my retirement years. Thanks from Detroit, Michigan.
I love your channel! It’s really relaxing to see a master working with so much experience. I learned a lot from you and just want to thank you for all the nice expainations and advices!👍🏼 lots of regards from Germany mate👍🏼👍🏼and happy holidays
Thoroughly enjoy watching your work as a rank amateur I adore my watches and am obsessed, especially with the Valjoux 7750. Have a great Christmas and a prosperous 2019.
Another great video. I always enjoy the relaxing music with disassembly/assembly. I'm considering purchasing this movement, not necessarily to build, but to practice servicing.
I find these videos so relaxing. Happy Christmas!
What a wonderful Christmas find. Thank you!
Merry Christmas Mark! You’ve opened my world up to so much. Thanks!
Welcome. Merry Christmas.
Mark
Merry Christmas and a Very HaPpY New Year.
You’re very underrated and under subscribed.
Here’s hoping 2019 is your best YET!
This is mind blowing and better than watching a movie. WOW. Thank you for the beautiful neo classical piano music , it matched my feelings perfectly
I am so impressed by your skill and delicate touch. Thanks you for all the videos you have done in 2018. Merry Christmas !
Thanks.
Great video as always, and thank you for the contest
Auld Lang Sine! The ending music is lovely. Thanks for the time and effort and sharing of your expertise and knowledge. Excellent work!
Merry Christmas Mark!
And thanks for sharing the video! It looks to be a nice movement!
The best instructional videos I've come across. Hence having been a Patreon for about 30 months now. Gotta stop the Seiko modding and make the time to cash in my patreon and start the course. All the best for 2019.
I was actually quite impressed with the timegrapher readings for the Seagull straight out of the box. Those look surprisingly close to the figures I would expect from a factory ETA movement that was not COSC grade. A significant factor, and which you did not touch upon in your video, is the comparative cost of these movements. The Seagull is of the order of a tenth of the retail price of the same movement from ETA. This makes for an interesting dilemma: whether to service the movement or just flat out replace it when it eventually fails?
Another nice video!! Thanks for sharing these with us!! Congrats, in advance to the 2 lucky winners!! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you as well!!
Same to you :)
Hope you have an awesome 2019. Enjoyable video as always. I took levels 1&2 or your course and got a lot out of them. I'm excited for the opportunity to win level 3. Thank you.
You're so good
I like to watch how you fix it.
I'm so proud of you to be a watch repairer
Very interesting Mark. I’m surprised that the movement is so well manufactured. I thought the ETA and Selita movement would be the only ones worth considering. Cheers Richard
Thanks very much, I am learning a lot from your videos
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas! Your videos were a great guide in assembling and repairing a broken replica of this movement so regardless of if I'm fortunate enough for the subscription or not I'm planning on getting the subscription!
Thanks for the comment.
Thanks Mark. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Interesting and entertaining as always...Merry Christmas Mark. Thanks for posting.
Thanks. Getting a good feel for seagull movements
GREAT VIDEO !!!! .. I was waiting on this one Thanks,Mark
Thanks! I've been impressed with Seagull
Thank you for another video giving the hobbyist/enthusiast an affordable option.
Thanks Mark! I enjoyed following along!
i've got one of these movements in a seagull ST5 commemorative May 1 reissue, it's very nice
Another great video Mark! Keep em comming!
Thank you for another great video. Happy new year to everyone!
Great lessons, I learned so much! MERRY CHRISTMAS
Merry christmas
Great vid as usual. Fingers crossed for the competion!!!
Good luck
Hello, I was wondering where would you recommend to buy the tools to get into watchmaking? And where to buy oils? (preferably in the EU).
Merry Christmas.
I am seriously surprised at how well this clone performed at the outset and after the strip down and reassembly.
Great video! Your channel made me very interested in watches and I ordered some tools the other day! I cant wait to open up some of my watches and have a look!
Good to hear :)
Thanks, Mark. Your videos are invaluable!
Thanks for this! Shared at the AMCHPR Alberta Museum of Chinese Horology Facebook page
They're actually a pretty good movement. Sometimes there are poorly manufactured ones however, sometimes one hits a jackpot and finds some where the winding gear recess and components aren't shrouded in the bridges and touch the gears which leave metal slivers in the movement. It all depends on production time.
Thank you for sharing your talents!
My goal is to be able to estimate what it would take to repair my granddad's 100-year old Swiss made no-name pocket watch w/ a broken balance staff. It may be hard to find a replacement staff...
Great video. Good knowledge. Smooth performance. Clear texts. Thank you, Mark! Happy Holidays! Would you care to check out the STP movements, 1-11 calibre namely. There are contradicting reviews out there. On the one hand they say, they use better parts than ETA, the others say multiple movements are not working properly. STP 1-11 is a clone to eta, much like ST2130. But arguably its Swiss made. A label that is so important for the industry these days.
Thank You for all your videos Much appreciated
Another great vid Mark...happy christmas
Merry Christmas, Thank you!
Very nice to know! Merry Christmas Mark!!! Happy New Year!!!
Thank you. Same to you.
Enjoyable and particularly informative, many thanks
Amazing... message of the video would be that these movements are a good replacement option for the ETA, and don't require prior service, right?
Great video. That one looked a lot better finished than the previous Chinese movement you stripped down.
Thanks for yet another great video, Merry Christmas Mark
And to you. ... cheers
This video is simply beautiful. Thank you.
Nice, as always you've done your best to capture and explain every bit of it possible... :-)
Coming to the subject, I somehow feel that the built quality of Tianjin 2824s are still flimsy than the original, though they've improved a lot over the years..
Thank you for your video,I like the way how you patiently describe your work.I have a question to ask you, does sourcing of swiss watch industry components still exclusively swiss made or has it moved to other countries like Singapore or Malaysia for manufacture of such components?
Always find your videos very informative as a pretentious watch maker l find they are of great value and interest and perfect for people with limited ability like me.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thanks for your videos
Great content as always. Already waiting for the next one.
Thank you
Another great video Mark!
Merry Christmas 🎄
Thanks col
Your channel has helped me realize that I want to be a watch maker/repairer thanks!!
But do you want to clean and repair other peoples watches for 10+ hours a day, 5+ days a week?
Your dissasembly / lubrication videos are always very detailed, perfect for learning. Do you have any idea why the amplitude is lower after lubrication? Thanks Andrej
Love the videos and Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, enjoy your tutorials.
Good to see the Chinese are getting it together. But given the tech boom there in all areas, I can't say I'm surprised!
You're producing nice educational and informative content. Keep up the good work.
Thanks mate
Thanks for the videos staring my first watch waiting on delivery of my movment. Gonna do some bluing and servicing and turn a case from 316 stainless not many people one RUclips doing watch related videos keep it up and hope 2019 gose well
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Mark!
Merry xmas Mark and thanks for sharing this video, very interesting to hear a professionals opinion rather then that of the watch snobs
Hi mark I'd like to thanks you for your watch video . as a mechanic for over 30 years and love how things tick or work . and your work as inspired me to have a go at striping a old watch of mine as my wife for Christmas got me a basic watch repair kit .... but things look so DAM small wish me ....... thanks Richard uk 🇬🇧
Merry Christmas Mark. I have a similar movement in my limited edition Seagull Wuyi which is now four years old. My movement has engine turned parts and is very attractive. The whole watch feels really well made ( and this coming from a Grand Seiko owner). In the four years I have owned it there have been zero issues and it is consistently only +3 seconds a day fast. I also have a DoroChron Skeleton watch with a Seagull movement (they are a brand sold exclusively here in Austria by The Dorotheum, one of the worlds oldest fine art auction houses) which again performs faultlessly and maintains a +7 second a day average. Compare that to a Breitling I made the mistake of buying once which never was better than +30 seconds a day brand new! No, I’m a convert to the high quality end of Chinese watchmaking. Would love to see you get your hands on one of their Tourbillions!
Awesome.
I am with you all the way with Sea-gull movements. All my Sea-gull watches are way more accurate than any of the other watches I own including Omega and other high end Swiss products.
Merry Christmas Mark and thanks for this video !
My pleasure.
