I'd be happy to see the Berny 200m dive watch pressure tested. The one with the yellow dial. I actually went ahead and purchased it based on your review and general look of the watch. Still one of my favourite every day wearers.
I bought a 51 gold dial with a complicated patter re issue a few years ago ....brilliant watch.
That is a very very good looking watch. The dial is beautifully finished, almost Grand Seiko! I don't worry about lume on a dress watch. It's just a bonus to have some. Excellent review Gary.

Nice! This watch in stainless steel with a champagne colour will be gorgeous. Beautiful mid-century dress watch design. And the watch is even more water resistant than a Tandorio dive watch! 😁 But this coating your copy has, is not my thing...😏
Happy to see you routinely testing water resistance on watches now. Could you please do it with all the watches you review now? I'd especially like to see how good the water resistance of San Martin and Steeldive watches really is.

@@ilikewatches Yo Gary, don´t you think that once you start PT chinese watches and exposing them when they fail the Pressure test then the chinese watch makers will simply stop sending you watches for review? I know Herman is being used for only 3 ATM but what about if you get a bigger Herman and start PT diver watches at 20 ATM? how many of this Ali watches are gonna hold the PT? I got disenchanted recently with a SteelDive brand new diver watch that got filled up with water, and I suspect that many other chinese divers will go through the same fate if pressure tested, I mean, they are very affordable for a reason, it would be very interesting to PT also big name brands out there. none of the watch reviewers is PT the watches they receive for review, it would be very interesting to see how Seikos and Orients or many other micro brands really pan out when exposed to water, many watch buyers never expose their beloved watches to the swimming pool afraid of ruining their watches and watch makers rely on that fact, cheers.
lovely classic looking watch, just like the ones my father and grandfather wore (and my grandfather was a deep sea fisherman - no dive watches in those days).

That’s an attractive watch, good movement and an appealing leather strap. The price is reasonable too; $250 Canadian.
Oh, one more thought: when is the Academic being released?

Well over five years ago I purchased a GT & FQ (Seagull) Rider M001 Automatic watch. It has a ST1780 movement and is a
Jaeger Lecoultre Master de Reserve Marche homage. It is a stunning watch, with a silver sunburst dial. I paid £99 for it. Recommend you look it up. Have checked and I can't see it on any retail sites. The leather strap that came with it was poor, but now looks great on a white stitched, calfs leather tan strap 😁
Nice looking watch , lovely vintage design and size. Good to see lume on dress-like watches even if not especially effective. The dark blue dialled one in the thumbnails looked especially nice. Good review.

It is interesting how my tastes as I get older run more towards the simpler watches like this one.

This is what I've been saying! Forget the PT5000 and Myota 9XXX. Ali brands should be using the ST2100 movements! it's an excellent movement.
Seagull/sugess/seestern have incredible value for money. Some of their products so cheap that if it needs serviced you can just replace the movement Nh34/35 for example. Im thinking of getting a seagull moonphase and their very affordable..

I got one last year and I think it’s one of the best kept secrets on AliExpress! No one talks about it hardly so Im glad you put this video out. I tell anyone that will listen about this watch as I think it’s one of the best value for money watches out there. I will say only the champaign dial comes in the smaller size that this watch is. Unfortunately the other colors are 40mm. A real shame for a dress watch I think.
I got this watch with faux croc leather strap. It has a matching buckle but the strap was stiff.
I'm very impressed with this Sea-Gull watch, in fact you've changed my thoughts on Chinese watches.

That is a beautiful watch, I really like that 60s watch style and just a little bigger, glad it survived Herman! I MUST NOT buy though, still saving for an Academic.
Nice looking watch - reminds me of many 1950-60s watches from Omega, Longines etc.
I must sound like a stuck record Gary but it’s to small for me. Their seems to be a lot of 36mm/38mm watches about atm other then that it’s a lovely looking watch

Wish it was hand winding. Love seagull they just make literal vintage watches and don’t care. They are incredible and seriously add a lot to the watch community.
This design reminds me of some of the vintage Alpina watches. Very nice. Little bits of lume like this worked ok in the self illuminating radium and tritium paint days, not sure its worth the effort nowadays.
This reminds me of the Orient Bambino that everyone was waiting for but was a flop with the lug width and supply

It really is a beautiful classic style. I'd be tempted if not the Sea - Gull brand name. I just can't equate or connect sea gulls with watches ! a Raven or a Condor maybe.
It's weird but it's an original brand that's been around decades. Japanese names sounded weird back in the 70's

I wouldn’t shower with a 30m WR the heat from the shower would loosen the seals of even a 50m
That date not centered in the date window, the first thing I noticed and not a small detail I can overlook. Easy to resolve for Sea-Gull, just ditch the date....
Note that 3ATM water resistance is achieved with a pair of $0.03 rubber gaskets around the crown stem and in a groove sealing the case back. If either gasket dries out (which they inevitably do after 3 to 4 years) or is damaged in any way, the water resistance is essentially gone. I would take off this watch even if I am just washing my hands.

You should ask for a watch because you like it and not because it's the cheapest. That being said, that is a nice looking watch. I like the vintage style and the gold color. Too bad it isn't real gold plated.
i feel like the silver colored dial does not look good with the rose gold color case

Why is that? Date functions were quite common in watches in vintage watches especially in the 60s.

I would like to see a Berny water test. After I bought the full lume model on the AliExpress sale last November they told me they water tested my watch. I've gotten it lightly wet a few times with no issues so far
Very 'Bambinish' 🙂. They even made the same 'mistake' (=imho) Orient did: That date window at 3 o' clock: brrr. I say kick it to the six, or kick it out all together.

7:13 to 7:22 there is a bubble on 12 hour. A small one, so I assume the watch passed the test.

I personally wouldn't buy Seagull watches for reasons but they offer a lot of work for the money, at 159$ it is at that sweet spot where it's still a disposable watch, the pricier ones are just not worth servicing and they do break a lot...
