  • In this tutorial I walk you through the techniques used to knit My First Cardigan, a pattern by Vanessa Ewing, brought to us by Kraemer Yarns. This is a great first sweater for new sweater knitters.
    I'm still getting the kinks worked out in the new studio, thanks for your patience. :)
    You can get the pattern here:

    Kraemer Perfection Sport yarn is available here:

    I'm here because an English channel featured one of the videos from this channel to listen to the correct pronunciation of some words. Even though I don't knit, I'm just here to learn more vocabulary and improve my pronunciation. Thank you for these videos 🥰.

    Hello Staci,
    Well I’ve started knitting the cardigan. I’ve worked Row 13. The pattern reads that I am to repeat Rows 12 and 13 thirteen (fourteen and seventeen) times more.
    Rw 12 (RS)
    Rw 13 (WS)
    Rw 14(RS)
    Rw 15 (WS)
    Rw 16 (RS)
    Rw 17 (WS)
    Then I work the button hole
    Followed by: Divide Body from Sleeves.
    Thks for your support. Somewhat challenging, but I’ll succeed. 😅

    • @cherylfarthing3430
      @cherylfarthing3430 9 месяцев назад

      I’ve cmpleted Rw 16. I think I have a problem in my st count: 24-22-42-22-23=133 ? Should I undo my work and start over?
      On which Row do I start button hole?
      Not sure I am ready for such a project. 😢

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  8 месяцев назад

      Cheryl - I don't know what your stitch count is supposed to be, but it looks like you're maybe only one stitch off in one section? Probably not worth ripping out and starting over. For pattern support and to get your questions answered, you can contact the designer directly (on Ravelry) or contact Kraemer through their website or on Facebook.

    • @verypinkknits

      Casting on a few stitches under the arms is a way to minimize the gap you will always get there in top-down raglans. Any time you change direction in your knitting you get a gap - the CO stitches help.

    Do you, by any chance, have any videos that show how to knit a side pocket that is invisible from the outside? I can find a ton of videos showing how to knit either a square pocket on the outside of a garment, or a horizontal hidden pocket, but nowhere have I found one that is knitted into the side of a garment. I just ordered my Kraemer pattern and yarns for this project. I'm now getting the knitting needles. How long are your circular needles? 24 or 36 inches? Would 36 be trickier to knit with because it's much longer?

    • @verypinkknits

      I like to use 24" circulars for almost everything, and that's what I used for this sweater. It's fine to use 36" circulars, I prefer to use shorter unless I have a ton of stitches, like for a blanket.

    Hi would appreciate if u could please clarify the video around minute 16. In row 6 you turned work and ended up adding stitches on to the RIGHT needle per the instructions. But for row 7 the instructions are to cable cast onto the LEFT needle, however you also added them to the right needle like in row 6???

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  Год назад

      It's because I turned the work to cast-on the stitches...only because I'm right-handed, and I find it easier that way. You can not turn the work and CO to the left needle if you prefer.

    i have moved on to use kll or rll instead of kfb, thoughts? on the kll stitch in general?

    Hey Stacy, you talked about using other stitches instead of the M1R & M1L. What other stitches are there besides just KFB & will KFB look ok on front sleeves for both sides ?

      He? I mentioned other increases...kfb is a good choice and it will look fine on both sides of the marker. You can also use yarn-overs or lifted increases.

    What size circular needles did you use. I need to know the length. Thanks.

      I used 16" circulars when I knit the pink sweater, 24" is also a good length.

    The link I followed only has sizes for straight needles and dpn's. What size circular needles do I need?

      You'll use the same needle sizes whether you choose to use straight needles or circulars. The length of circulars is up to you - I chose to use 24" circulars.

    So, instead of making short rows to shape the cardigan, the pattern asks for adding stitches, with cable cast on? Is that correct?

    I like to leave my resting stitches on the cables of circular needles, a size or two smaller than the working needles.

      This sweater is only sized for tiny humans, but you can find lots of sweaters knit this same way (top down raglan) on Ravelry. I also have these tutorials: verypink.com/.../22/cropped-raglan-cardi-tutorial/
