Made a mini jumper as a sample for a bigger project using your tutorial as a guide. Only the sleeves are to be knitted now, your technique of Raglan increases was the only one I could follow and I am hooked! Thank you so much 🩷🩷🩷
Happilly discovered your channel. I've been crocheting for 50 yrs as a hobby but your way of explaining , teaching & showing clearly especially how to in/decrease made my fears fade away and looking for new yarn to begin the sweater. 👍👍👍👍
Wow! I just love how you actually explain and show what it is that you are knitting and what it does. That way you learn so much better and faster imo. Will definitely use this video for when my friend has her new baby. Thank you!! :D
I have used this tutorial twice now to make my baby some jumpers and I am so pleased with how they have turned out. I am just about to purchase your other sizes and try the cardigan! Thanks so much for these tutorials I am very greatful x
wow thank you I have been trying for days to create a baby jumper. Your tutorial is fantastic and easy to follow. Thanks for all your hard work its a beautiful pattern.
Wow, this is amazing. I’m not finished yet, but I just wanted to say I am up to binding off. I have never done this before, and I nearly didn’t do it, cause I could t get it. But I persisted, and I got it, and it looks absolutely beautiful 😍
I just finished this sweater and I love it (great tutorial). I would like to knit another but for a toddler (14-16 months). Any suggestions on how I would do this?
I bought the exact same yarn, the same needles, it will be my first knitting project (I do crochet usually). I can't wait but I'm so afraid to mess it up !
Hi Jessica, thank you so much I'm glad you enjoyed the pattern!:) I do have the larger sizes available for purchase in my ravelry store (the link is in the description). If you have financial barriers, please send me an email at kaaburaknits@gmail.com and we'll figure something out:)
I am new to circular knitting. The little baby sweater was so tempting that I had to try it out. Everything is going great except for the magic loop. I am using a 24" length and I find that I am struggling with the stitches being distorted and stretched. Is it better to use a longer length as in your instructions? Thank you kindly for this very inspiring tutorial.
Hi! The 24 inch should be just fine, but magic loop does tend to give people a hard time in the beginning. A few options you can try: 1. If you choose to continue with magic loop, make your you're knitting the first two stitches on each needle tightly. It is okay if the live stitches look stretched, as long as once you knit them everything looks okay after a couple of rows. 2. You can look up tutorials for double pointed needles (I personally find this method more difficult). 3. You can actually continue knitting these in the round on small circulars using 9 inch needles! These are difficult to find from big craft stores, but if you have a local yarn shop they will likely have some, or you can order online. I hope something here works for you. If you figure out a method that ends up working out, please let me know:)
@@kaaburaknits Thank you so much for your reply. I used the magic loop and tightened the first two stitches. It worked well and the more I practice the easier it gets. Looking forward to more of your beautiful patterns.
M really trying hard to make it for my 3yo, not good with written pattern yet as all i made till now is a boomerang scarf M great in crochet but started knitting
Hi Anne, you definitely could! Just do another yarn over a few rows down where you would like the second button to go:) Thank you for the kind comment!
Thanks so much for the kind comment, Rose!😊 I actually learned to knit but following full tutorials for socks on RUclips. I really want to give back and help people learn like I did, because knitting has done so much for me ever since!🤍
So I’m on my last sleeve and I have no idea what I did but I messed up and suddenly the stitching started looking completely different. So I went back to beginning of sleeve to fix it (so undid the rows). NOW the working yarn is on the base of the needle instead of by both points. My brain is physically hurting.
@@summerbourbon7324 When you ripped back, did you take out the needles and then put them back in when you felt like you had gone back enough? It sounds like you may have put them back and ended up with stitches on your right hand needle that haven't been worked yet. You can slip the stitches back to the left hand needle and then knit them once the working yearn is back where it should be. I hope this helps and I hope you get to finish this!
Hi! Loving this pattern so far. When you say 4.5 inches for the sleeve, where are you measuring from? From the bottom of the sleeve or the top? Thanks so much!
Love this tutorial! Question, where do you start measuring the sleeve? Under the arm or at the shoulder. Not sure how to tell when I get to 4.5 inches.
Courtney, First time knitter and you so adeptly walked me through a Filsa sweater! ❤I want to make an adult woman's sweater (medium), same pattern. Is this possible?!?
Hi love the pattern but I am wondering why "your" knit side of the project looks differently...to me it looks like one side of the stitch looks like a ridge while the other side of the stitch looks slanted. In other words it doesn't look like the traditional "v" on the rs (right side). Thanks
Hello, I love your pattern! I purchased the pattern and I am knitting a sweater for my 7 month old baby girl, however I am using a thicker yarn, when I casted on 51 stitches it will be way to big for her! I was wondering if I could cast on about 21-31 stitches. Would that still work? Or is there a smaller number of stitches I can use? Thanks!
I’ve never knitted a sweater before but am looking for a pattern like this without the pretty bottom. Do you know what I am looking for? Wanting to knit size 3-4yrs no seam (neck or cuff). This is the closest I’ve found
Just love this pattern. I have just finished the hem for the 6-9 month pattern with the I cord bind off. My hem is rolling in some spots. Do you have any suggestions how I can fix this.
Hi Angie! Have you tried blocking the sweater? If you don't have pins to use while blocking, I would suggest putting something heavy on the hem while it is drying. Let me know if you've tried this and need other suggestions:)
When we're doing the increases we do one along with you (knit & purl row) then you say do this 8 more times, does that mean there will be 9 increase parts in total? Or do we do 7 more to make 8 increase parts? Thanks 😊
Hi Ghina, As most of this pattern is knit in the round, you will need either circular or double pointed needles. If you don't mind seaming the pieces together at the end, you could knit the front and back separately and then sew them together (you would just divide the total stitch count for the body in half). It would be MIUCH easier to just knit it in the round though:) Courtney
Hi! First thanks for the great video! I just did the first increase row and purl and about to start the other 8 rounds but you mention increasing on the right. Are we not supposed to do the left increase after the stitch marker like we did together? So knit up to last stich before marker, m1R, and then keep knitting until the next marker? Or still do the m1L?
Beautiful sweater❤️ I'm just a little worried that the button in the neck would be pressing into the babys neck when it lays down on its back. Is this a problem?
The time it takes really just depends on your knitting style! I'm a relatively quick knitter and the smallest size in this sweater takes me 6-7 hours. I have a friend who is a very slow knitter and the same sweater takes her a week. The pattern is available in sizes up to one year on my ravelry page:) www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/filsa-sweater
Hi there! 9+8+18+8+9 actually equals 52:) There are 52 stitches on the needles because after casting on, one stitch is increased by creating a yarn over for the buttonhole. Hope this helps!
Hi Sheila, I don't have this pattern for a two year old- however, you could choose the largest size in the pattern, go up to a worsted weight yarn, go up a needle size, and this will really help to make a larger sweater:) Or, Tin Can Knits offers a free pattern called the Flax Sweater on Ravelry, which includes many sizes!
Hi Lida, you could definitely knit the sleeves using double pointed needles! You would just divide the number by 4 instead of 2, and there are lots of tutorials on RUclips:)
You can use double pointed needles if that is your preferred way to work in the round:) You won't be able to use two straight needles to complete this sweater in the round.
