The MR earn rate on the platinum and gold are horrible considering the high annual fees. It’s clear Amex wants a person to carry multiple products, Colbalt and either Gold/Platinum.

if you're flying enough you would probably have airline status to get free lounge access most of the time

Totally different cards for different purposes and target audiences. If you don't travel much, don't get the platinum, period. The Cobalt is a much better every day card.

CPP is nice in Canada but annual fee is higher.. Sign up bonus could go higher in Canada! I got it when it was 150k and my friend got it when it reached the highest 175k
