I drive Tesla now for about 7 years and can confirm that a lot of my friends needed some years to first think about buying a EV and second now actually buying one. They asked a lot of questions a long the way wich I always answered with: „I don‘t know how Audi, Porsche, BMW or VW are doing but driving a Tesla I seriously not a problem a all. I enjoy every day. Never had any problem“ Then I explained a lot about software, over the air updates and charging infrastructure. Most of my friends ended up buying a Tesla Model Y and all of the are happy over all. One friend bought an Audi E Tron GT and his wife bought a Tesla Model 3. After a few years living with both brands and experiencing long trips with both (we are in Germany) she switched to Model Y and he just ordered a Model S. Actually they just tried the Audi once for a vacation trip and after that the ONLY took the Model 3. And that was because of charging , room for luggage and ease of use from the Tesla. Type in your destination and just go. My friend also reported that the Audi had about 2 Software Updates and he always had to bring it to the dealership for about 2 days. And on the other side the Model 3 had software updates all the time. Just over the air in like 20-40 Minutes. So he said that is such a huge difference, he would not expect that before.
So I thing there is still a lot of people out there needing some information about all the benefits of driving an EV and how outstanding the Tesla experience is. Advertisement could help here. But the story of a friend does more I think. (Sorry for wrong spelling if there is any)

To be clear, the spruce "forest“ surrounding Giga Berlin is a "Nutzwald" planted to harvest wood for manufacturing paper and carton. These Spruces are also pruned back and do not have their natural full grown needle crown - only the last few meters at the top are left to grow naturally. In these „Nutzwäldern" there is no good climate as the tree's crowns do not protect enough from the sun and there the ground around them is dry and not allowing for a diverse ecosystem.
The type of Forest can be chopped down and new trees can be - must be - planed somewhere else. Tesla committed to replenishing proper forests elsewhere in the region by I believe at least 3x the amount of what was chopped down. It should be in everyone’s interests for this to happen.
Furthermore, those people that have taken camp in this forest are also doing something illegal. We have the BWaldG (Bundeswaldgesetz) - a law specific to everything regarding Forests. According to this law, it is absolutely not allowed to erect any permanent structures or significant temporary structures that disturb the forest - Not even the usual ground camping in a tent is allowed. You can however do something called Biwak - You gather fallen sticks (not removing branches from trees) and with a cord arrange them that they allow you to either can lean further branches with leaves against it or throw a tarp over. The version made out of all branches and leaves you can see often in German forests.
Long story short: those campers are lucky they have not been forcefully removed right away for doing something very illegal - probably because they do it in a "Nutzwald"

We all know that drib vers text and actually fall asleep at the wheel, companies know that… so why are only companies that already have a driving assistance system need to have a driver monitoring system? If one is needed, all companies need to install it.

Apparently, she looked up the crash test videos and saw that a driver will most likely only be bruised and shocked from a side-impact, while it is questionable if she would survive a similar accident in her Subaru Forester. She spent a couple of hours talking about the Cybertruck over the next couple of days.

Range Anxiety. No ICE driver is going to feel better based on advertisement. Their anxiety will only be reduced when they have the opportunity to operate a Tesla over a couple of days, acknowledging the anxiety and noticing the anxiety diminishing with experience.
The exposure to superchargers and the car’s software is essential. Regrettably, without at home charging or extensive destination charging their experience will only alleviate breather that remove their anxiety.

The next wave of EV adopters needs more and better information. Great episode. About Tesla ads and awareness: the problem on social media is that negative sensationalism loves meme brands. Tesla is up against ignorance and the ICE lobby already, add the built-in haters on social, and it looks bad. However, facts always win in the end and social has no substance long term. I would favour Tesla infomercials about the cars, megapacks, solar, etc., but don't expect to overturn social media sentiment. Social is the home of ignorance.

One important caveat to keep in mind is that Tesla consistently leaves six times the legal amount of phosphorous and nitrogen compounds in their wastewater and, unlike VW, they built their factory in a legally designated water protection zone, where the drinking water is sourced from the ground water. Which is a key factor as to why so many are critical of the factory. So it's great if they actually turn out to be more efficient than other companies, but that doesn't adress the root issue.

If it eventually reaches the stage where it can drive WITHOUT driver monitoring, THEN they can use the term FSD if they still want to. How about MSD for now - Monitored Self Driving? Or mFSD - monitored full self driving. When monitoring is no longer needed they call it aFSD - autonomous full self driving.

Tesla needs to open more delivery / service / collision centers. You should not have to drive hours to get your car serviced or repaired after an accident. Northern Indiana is a Tesla desert with the only repair / collision centers being in Chicago. What a traffic nightmare. Tesla needs to plan out service centers like they plan out charging stations. You should only have to drive so far to get to one. You should not have to travel to the next state to get your vehicle repaired.

Due to the price gap between the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, you can count on many going for the Plaid over the GT, but a company that should be fearful of market share dropping should be Lucid. Not that the Air Sapphire has been blowing out sales, if someone said I could be the Taycan Turbo GT or Air Sapphire, I would go GT. This niche super performance EV sedan market just got cut up more and I think Lucid is going to have a smaller slice of that market.

As it stands now, if my home was in the centre of a 50km x 50km square box on a map, there are exactly 3 tesla superchargers in an area equal to 2,500 square kilometres. Could it be that the ICE car owners are worried about charging on long trips and Tesla owners are not, because the people who don’t take long trips are the ones who bought Teslas? I know that I am one of those who make about two trips to Colorado a year from Texas. It already takes up a day each way and I am NOT going to spend 8 hours more each way to wasting my time at charging stations. Now, once FSD comes along and I will be able to go to sleep in my Cybertruck while it drives me there, it will be a very attractive proposition. I don’t really care what type of engine the car has but I like Teslas in general.

ICE vehicles had no "grid" of filling stations or even roads in the early ICE history. They, the ICE crowd, has no concept of how much energy is available in, eg, sunlight. They seem unable to grasp the decided advantage in efficiency of electric motors vs ICE engines.

My guess is we will see battery progress continue to stagnate, especially if the government continues to suppress competition from ICE makers. Im figuring my CT reservation means my number will come up in a year. If range is still 400 miles, I will have a hard decision to make. At this point, I'm leaning toward no as 400 miles in north Rocky's winter is more like 250 miles and where it's 100 miles between towns and no chargers...it's not really a general purpose transportation device and is just a urban commute toy vehicle.

13:00 I'm guessing the reason Tesla does not advertise is to keep the cost of their cars lower. Look at it this way: If more people knew how good a Tesla EV is, they would order one. But Tesla is already selling every car they make, so the net result of advertising would be to increase demand and (if history is any guide) to lengthen the wait time and to raise the car's price. Bottom line is that Tesla is deliberately not advertising, and using that as a demand lever.
