Tbh this is now very old school I guess.. but the best stills camera from Canon under $1000 is a used 5D Mark iii. You can find em for $650 or so and they are feature packed. The biggest downside is that the dynamic range on the censor is worse than a lot of its contemporaries, but that hasn’t stopped many professionals from getting incredible shots out of it for 10 years now. It’s a gem and an absolute workhorse
Tbh, just buy an RP and 90D used and you’ll get them both under $1500. From there, buy the EF-RF adapter and buy ef glass and you’re going to be set. That’s what I did and I don’t regret it one bit

Yes its old, but its still a solid reliable tank, it just never fails and it an ISO range for most pro work, even today. PS. I've been really happy with it and I'm still learning new things with it. That said, I've almost immediately been thinking about a second camera. I thought I had settled on getting a R6, but hearing you talk about the M6 Mk 2 is making me reconsider, a little. I briefly thought about the RP so I can get experience with a full frame camera. I'm was planning on taking the pain and making it happen anyways. There is something to say about the M line though. I currently have 3 Canon M lenses and I'm considering getting 3 more. The lenses along with the M50 itself are so light and compact. That has been extremely valuable to me this last year. I pickup a DSLR at Best Buy last year for the first time and it blew me away with how heavy it was. Made me like my M50 even more. The R6 felt light in my hands as well so I am looking foward to getting one. What interests me about the M6 Mk 2 is that its MP is bigger than either M50 or the R6. Its FPS is also more than the M50. For $1000 it would be an upgrade in the ways I care about and I already have a collection of lenses for it. Its only downside for me is that I want to play with a full frame camera. So I might pick it up after I get a R6, whenever that happens.

The R6 would be a massive step up in every way so depending on how important a camera is right now would depend on which one you should get. If you don't shoot video much, you could also make that Canon EOS R work as well but if you do shoot video as well, definitely save for the R6 or just stick with the M6II
Love my 1Dx and 1Dx mark II. For my needs (amateur sports photographer that already had some EF lenses), these fit the bill and were very affordable. Got both for less than half the cost of an R3.
Great post! I"m very old school, and am happy to stick with my 20D, 7D Mk II, 1DX Mk III, and even my old 300D, the OG DSLR I bought back in 2003. I've got some reasonably good glass, with the 70-200 f/4 on my wish list to get before end-of-year (subtle hints dropped to my wife regarding Christmas...), and maybe a good 500mm some day. I know that mirrorless is the wave of the future, and I have nothing against it, but my gear is perfectly good for my needs and I don't see the need to make the move.
I just bought my first camera EOS R about 6 months ago and I really enjoy it. Good quality pics. How ever hindsight being 20/20 I wish I would have splurged a bit more and gone with the R5. Buy once cry once.
@@learningcameras considering either 90d or R5 as I currently have T7i and as you mentioned great starter DSLR camera, I’ve learned so much and think I’m ready to upgrade. Appreciate the video.
@@jjediv I think the R6 would be an awesome update to the T7i if you can swing it and is great for both photo and video. That would be my next camera for sure. The 90D would be better functionally but not a massive quality improvement compared to the R6. Obviously the R5 is best but that's a big step up in price
Once you step into full frame it’s hard or even impossible to go back to apsc sensor I have the 5d mark ii and even though it’s an old camera(2008) it’s better than most apsc cameras even from other brands…also you can get it (used apparently) for about 450-500€
Would anyone believe that I went from a Canon R5 to combo Canon 90D / Panasonic HC-X1500? I did and its a great combo as video is my main business. Great overview, Dan, thank you! 🇺🇸
Hey I’m looking to buy a Sony beginner… mostly for content / studio sessions / street photos for ig / events Would you recommend Sony a6400 a6500 or zve10
Thank you for your video Dan. I'm a 90D owner looking to move to the next level (higher quality and capability in video, fastest focus and tracking for wildlife and action, and great image quality at higher ISO speeds). I don't want to go to less resolution (than the 90D 32MP), so R5, R5C and the R7 announcement are on my radar. Having a tough time deciding. Do you have any wisdom for making a decision between the R5 and the R5C? I shoot a variety of subjects (feather, fur, faces and places) and video. Hmmm...
Hey! So definitely a huge fan of the Canon R5 series and it would be a huge upgrade from the 90D. The R5 is definitely a quality jump for video but if you are doing longer continuous video sessions (interviews, youtube, weddings...) that last over 60min you might want to look at the R5C because it has unlimited recording and won't overheat. Otherwise the R5 is great
I would like to upgrade from my 60d but the R5 at this point is not in the budget. If you had a budget of roughly 1500 and wanted to stick with Canon, what would you buy, new or used? I saw the now quit old 5dsr new for 1500, I know it has its limitations. I don't shoot video, mostly landscape, architecture and some macro.
You could look at the Canon 90D which is a decent upgrade from the 90D or maybe the 6DII but I can't say I loved the 6DII but at least Canon lowered the price quite a bit. If you don't shoot video or need live view, you could also look at a used Canon 5DIII or 5DIV
@@learningcameras Thank you for the reply. I did think I wanted to go full frame and the 5d3 and 4 had crossed my mind. I just caught a glimpse of the new R7 mirrorless, I may look into that one too even if cropped. I know that I tend to purchase above my skill and usage but as I am nearing retirement and photography has always been something of great interest for me. I would really like to make it a serious retirement activity as I have had to put it aside for far too long to make a living.
So this is for the more event cameras. I have a 1200D and I wanted to ask if you think it’s outdated by now or should I get a new camera? (Keep in mind I’m on a students salary)
The 90D is probably better if you are looking for a step up camera so a camera you buy today that you will eventually step up into something better. While the RP might have better low light performance, the camera is way more beginner than the 90D and if you want to begin the photography journey, you will probably get even more from the 90D. The only downside to the 90D is you will be buying APSC EF lenses for it which will likely not work for any future camera you end up getting so if you plan on heavily investing in several lenses, maybe instead look at the RP or EOS R
I mean today, used 5Dmk2 are beasts for photographers at 250 to 350$ am most but for the 1500$ i would have gone with the R7 or the R8 even, for a full frame experience, idk the prices there but for switzerland, it's arround 1500$
Hello I am new to photography, and I want to buy a canon T7. Do u actually recommende me to buy that as my first camara ? Hope u can give me some advice
Hi, my name is Carl and I am currently using a 90D. I was thinking about upgrading to something better. I was looking at the R6, but then I would have to start looking at better glass at the same time. I do like how the focus works with the new RF glass. My question is, should I break down and buy the R6, or stay with the EF mounted glass and pick up a 5D Mk IV with more resolution? I am also aware of the ISO gain with the R6. I am also getting back into shooting weddings and even some real estate. Anyone's answers are appreciated. Thank you!
Hello @grizz, I also have the 90D and am looking toward my next step. I am getting more into video, and I like the larger resolution sensors (hard to go down from the 32MP 90D sensor). So, I am looking at the R5, R5C and also awaiting an announcement of the R7. Also, I'm ready for the better images at higher ISO, and want the fastest focus and tracking capabilities for wildlife. Your considerations may differ, but I won't be looking back at the DSLR world. Best wishes...
Hey Carl! So keep in mind the 5D4 will probably mean new lenses as well since it is full frame so either way you are probably looking at a lens budget. Plus the R6 can work with EF lenses using the adapter. But the 5D4 is still plenty of camera for weddings and real estate. The only big reason to go with the R6 OVER the 5D4 would be if you also wanted to shoot video or spent more time in live view using the screen to compose. I actually have a 5D4 I'm selling and will definitely hook it up for a subscriber so feel free to hit me up if you want a used one. Has only 67,000 on the shutter so less than 45% of the rated shutter wear and obviously they usually go WAY longer than that
That was a really spot on review. The 90D had an amazing shutter speed but I found it lacking in low light and the focus points and system were disappointing when used for bird and wildlife. The R produced very nice images. Pretty good in low light. Great for street, portrait, landscape, event photography but the EVF lag and 7 fps (if memory serves me) was a deal killer for sports and wildlife. The R5 is the nicest camera I will probably ever own. Extremely feature rich and a Jack of all trades and a master of all. I don't do enough video, and don't care about the record limit, so I would rate it 10 out of 10 (for photography), Owned the 6DII and you were right in what you said, it's time has come and gone.
@@topshelf223 Probably depends what you’re going to use it for and how much you want to spend, me, I’d go with the R7. Love the mirrorless experiment and it’s newer technology. I’m not really up on the R7 but I found the best 90D lacking in low light and the auto focus for wildlife was just ok. Hope that helps.
I would love to know where are you finding "a ton of EF lenses really cheap." I can't find any price drop at all. Scratching my head. I'm in the market particularly for a Canon 85mm 1.4 IS
So I'm actually selling a bunch of mine and have found they are going for way less than expected. Have a 50mm F1.4, 85mm F1.8, and 70-200mm F2.9L IS II
@@learningcameras Thanks, if only I was in the market for those lenses I would buy from you. (I know you would take care of them ) :) but just the 85mm finishes off my set. Thnx. Great channel.
Full frame has some advantages for sure with low light and shallow depth of field but a good full frame camera like the Canon R6 is $1000 more and lenses cost more too so it depends
Please Dan, am starter and actually wanted to get my self canon camera for video and photography . I need one I can start life with what would be your recommendation.
Dan with 90 d to make massive pro quality videos like music, ballet( art) short independent films wich is better? I need pro quality massive image in video with under massive low budget, is possible?
The R7 is one of the best cameras Canon has made for the price. especially for hybrid shooters. Definitely fills in the gap below the R6 and in my opinion is a better option than the EOS R and 90D for most people
Thank you for suggestions. I am in need of another body. I have some L lenses. I am looking into a new full frame body on a limited budget under $1500. Which would you recommend?
I would definitely check out this camera: amzn.to/3K5AKCq It doesn't have any crazy features but it's great for beginners and still offers solid quality and no big downsides.
Super budget would be the Canon T7 but ideally the Canon EOS M6II would be the ticket. It's tough though because Canon really hasn't updated their cameras under $2000 in quite a while
Hey Dan! I’m a hairstylist looking for a camera for work (portraits mostly), I like a heavy background blur on my photos to make the hair “pop”; also looking for potential to take photo/video of dogs/kids for home use. Looking to spend around 1k but want a camera I could grow with/have options. Suggestions?
Hey! So the Canon R50 amzn.to/3Ou0vBS would be a great starting camera for that. A lot of that background blur is actually a result of a quality lens though so you might want to add on an extra prime lens like this amzn.to/44WHygD
I’ve been shooting with a song a7ii for a couple years now and have been wanting to upgrade and don’t know which canon to get? I shoot a little bit of everything and more photos than videos but I’d like to dive into video
i’m currently wanting to get the M50 mk II i’ve never had my own camera but i have a bit of experience, so i’m a beginner, is the m50 mk II a good choice for me?
I started with Rebel T5 and it was great for starting out, now I’m looking to upgrade as I do photoshoot mainly portraits and fashion photos. Does anyone have some upgrade recommendations for cameras and lenses?
Very helpful thank you. Even more helpful because you have recently sold your 5D4, which I would like to do and then purchase either the R6 or R7. As a hybrid sport shooter, which would you recommend based on the specs and understanding that you actually haven’t tested the R7?
Nothing is stopping you from using it and it will certainly still take very good looking photos if you know what you're doing. The main issues are going to be low light performance, which is kinda just bad compared to anything made in the last 5 years, and the dynamic range.
I'm kinda glad everyone is moving away from the ef mount. Tons of great deals on eBay. I still use my old L glass on Sony all the time lol. You can pick up some great zeiss ef mount for so cheap.
Solid image quality, poor video performance, and a more antiquated autofocus system than newer cameras. It also doesn't work well in live view but if you're mostly using the viewfinder and only shoot photos, it's still solid
At the moment i'm using Canon 5D mark lll for professional work. But i don't see much difference between new models, so i plan to upgrade to 5D mark lV after 4 or 5 years) how do you think how many years 5D mark lV will be relevant?
I would honestly skip the 5D Mark IV and go straight to something like the Canon R6 or R5 if you can afford it. The new mirrorless line definitely has quite a few advantages plus all Canon's new lenses from here forward will not work on the Canon 5D4 so you might want to make the jump to the R5 or R6 when you do want to upgrade
Your comments on the 6D MkII were a little disheartening. I bought mine late 2018 along with the Tokina 17-35, Tamron 35-150, and Tamron 150-600 G2. I've taken great photos with this setup but do find it lacking compared to the mirrorless shift in the industry. 2 weeks ago I purchased all new: Canon 24-70 2.8L II, 70-200 2.8L III, and 100-400 4.5L II. First off, the lenses have breathed new life into my 6D2 but I felt I would go the extra step and picked up a new R6 after much research. There are things that really bug me about the R6 and I'm not crazy about the low battery life, crappy EVF, overheating, poor codecs, and ridiculous procedure to switch from photo to video. The more I research, the more it's apparent that Canon purposely kneecaps their cameras to walk you up the ladder of more and more expensive cameras. To be honest, part of me wants to return all this stuff and keep my current setup or invest in another system. Just feeling a little frustrated.
Definitely bear in mind that you can take amazing images with pretty much any camera with any system so when I comment on a certain camera, keep that in mind. If you were to watch my reviews of cameras I didn't love, you'd still probably see awesome video and images I personally shot. But compared to the other cameras being released at the time, it was unimpressive at best. I do like the R6 though... Sure it has a few weaknesses but it was definitely a solid release from Canon and provided features better than the competition when it was announced. So I would definitely stick with that unless one of the weaknesses you mentioned is really becoming a problem. For me it was the 30 minute record limit. I shoot way too much long format video with weddings and youtube to use the R6 so I now use the A7IV. But I still bring out the R6 for photo shoots when I don't need crazy resolution
For the price I'm not sure what would be better. And that is definitely one of the better Canon APSC sensors so the only other option would be full frame which is way more expensive and won't get you fast frame rates in that price range
I’m just getting into photography/videography for car videos/edits and stills, and i’m deciding which one to get. The canon m50 mk2 or the sony a6100, if there is something else in the same price range what would you recommend
Hey! I'd probably lean towards the A6100 just because of the lens options available and the fact that you can always keep upgrading over the years with no issues where the M50 uses a different lens mount for Canon and only works with M cameras. Quality wise, both are great for photos but I'd give the edge to the a6100 for video
Nice! I'm not totally against micro. I've actually managed to destroy the full size HDMI ports on 2 camera but have never destroyed a micro HDMI terminal so I'm not convinced full size means stronger. Micro is fine for occasional use with short cable runs

Thank you and I greatly appreciate any info. Canon eos R Sony A7III Sony A7Rii Nikon Z6II Panasonic lumix S5 NOTE * I did find a used Canon eos r6 and Nikon z7 for 2100.00. These are what I think are my best options, I do not plan on doing much video, if there is a better full frame mirrorless option please let me know and thank you.
Hey! Sorry for the late reply. Since you are mostly shooting images I would say my favorites would be the A7III and the Z6II. I tend to prefer the Z6II except for autofocus but the A7III would definitely have the best lens selection
@@learningcameras thank you for your feed back. I actually found s fairly large camera store in Phoenix and after getting my hands on about 8 cameras I decided too go with the Z5 for my first purchase.
I don't really like the R5c unless you are pretty much 80% or more using it for video. It takes away IBIS, uses a different menu system, adds size/weight, and runs through the battery quickly. Thus I prefer the R5 unless you absolutely want to use it for cinema applications or you are worried about overheating the R5
@@learningcameras what about the 90d? I have a gh5 right now but the autofocus is terrible and i like to film my kids and take photos of them and canon has a nice color profile right of the caemra, maybe make a few short films here and there. Would you recoommend that? I have a 59mm for canon but it makes sound when focusing so filming with it is not ideal with a microphone. WHat would you recommend for a good overall lense for photos and video on the canon.
I want to ask you - What is your opinion on the noise from canon lenses when focusing. In my experiance they are getting picked up by the camer mic or mic if you put it on hotshoe and can actually ruin audio. Sony lenses are silent instead, so never had that problem.
Some Canon lenses are quiet...they are called "STM" lens which is the type of motor they put in them. Yeah, Sony has been using quiet motors in pretty much everything and the linear actuators they use are very quiet. So Canon does have quiet lenses but they tend to be the higher priced new lenses or "STM" lenses
It's not bad at all...basically a mirrorless version of the T7 so an all around solid camera for the price without any big feature or ability to make you go wow. I like the fact that it is mirrorless but the downside is that the lenses are only usable on Canon's EOS M lineup which who knows how long that lens mount will be around for so I'd be careful before investing a bunch of money in lenses for it
Both are great cameras. I usually wouldn't recommend the R6 OVER the A7IV, they both have some advantages and disadvantages. The A7IV's biggest weaknesses compared to the R6 are IBIS performance, 4k60 not being full frame, and the buffer being more limited due to the higher resolution. But if you shoot with a CFexpress card, the A7IV buffer isn't horrible.
It's not a bad camera at all but it's probably not the best around. I'd best describe it as being average in every area but it also doesn't stand out in any
Love my r6 shoot weddings and portraits with it. I thought the low megapixels would hurt me, but I honestly cant even tell the difference! Im not cropping in a huge amount (if i crop at all), so i find it is perfect. I cant wait for the mark II, if the rumors are true. Hopefully it will adopt the 26 megapixels from the 6D mark II so i do have the option to crop if needed.
I was planning to replace my kit (5Ds , Canon 16-35 , 50mm, 70-200 + sigma 85 f.4 and 12-24) when the r5 mk2 comes out ... but it appears that Canon are shutting down 3rd party lenses for the RF mount ... their Pro lenses are just ludicrously priced and I'm not willing to pay over $4000 per lens for a canon logo ... I am not a fan of Sony but they might be getting my money
Right now Canon, Sony, or Panasonic. Canon has cameras like the C70 and R5c that are amazing for pro video work and Sony has the FX3 and FX6 that are awesome as well. Even their cheaper mirrorless cameras like the Canon R6 and Sony A7IV are still solid. Panasonic just came out with the GH6 that also has some big pro video features
Yeah but you get rolling shutter with moving subjects and the chance of Flicker in artificial lights so not something you should use often. The sensor read speeds are slow
Kind of torn. On one hand, the only big video features I need from a camera SHOULD be in the R5...basically all they need is to stop the 30min record limit, help the overheating timer, and maybe add 4k120 in a lower quality IPB and I'd be happy. In theory all those can be done via firmware to the R5. On the other hand, I'm not against a dedicated video camera like the R5C although that does come with negatives like size, weight, and a loss of IBIS but some positives like Tally Lamps, better audio options, and fans.

@@jjediv I think the R6 would be an awesome update to the T7i if you can swing it and is great for both photo and video. That would be my next camera for sure. The 90D would be better functionally but not a massive quality improvement compared to the R6. Obviously the R5 is best but that's a big step up in price
splendid video Dan Watson. I killed that thumbs up on your video. Maintain up the brilliant work.
Love my Canon 90D with my Canon 100-400 mkii and Sigma 150-600 Contemporary lenses and have no want, need, or desire to go mirrorless
Once you step into full frame it’s hard or even impossible to go back to apsc sensor
I have the 5d mark ii and even though it’s an old camera(2008) it’s better than most apsc cameras even from other brands…also you can get it (used apparently) for about 450-500€
Would anyone believe that I went from a Canon R5 to combo Canon 90D / Panasonic HC-X1500? I did and its a great combo as video is my main business.
Great overview, Dan, thank you! 🇺🇸
That is a pretty crazy swap lol. Thanks Chad!
Why? Should I just get the 90d then? Or r7? I would like a ff mirrorless tho
Which canon camera is the best photography camera
Hey I’m looking to buy a Sony beginner… mostly for content / studio sessions / street photos for ig / events
Would you recommend Sony a6400 a6500 or zve10
90d or rp for photo can you answer me pls
Is there any different with image quality I like the sharpness on the eye so which better ?
Thnx
Otherwise the R5 is great
R7 is a really solid option as a replacement for the 90d
Which one would you recommend for filming cars, real estate and landscapes like ocean and mountains?
Canon R6 is great for that or the R5 if you absolutely need more resolution
R3 is a beast. I love how light it is.
Great review. I'm surprised you didn't mention the T8i for under 1k. Your thoughts on that camera? Thanks agaih.
It's OK. I have it. Wish I went with the 90D but I'm ready to go full frame now anyway
So this is for the more event cameras. I have a 1200D and I wanted to ask if you think it’s outdated by now or should I get a new camera? (Keep in mind I’m on a students salary)
Which camera you think would be better for a beginner photographer who wants good quality pictures Canon 90d or the Canon EOS RP
I have a canon 77D looking to upgrade
I mean today, used 5Dmk2 are beasts for photographers at 250 to 350$ am most but for the 1500$ i would have gone with the R7 or the R8 even, for a full frame experience, idk the prices there but for switzerland, it's arround 1500$
Hi,am looking at a used Canon 5D Mark III. I want to use it for photography only. Is it a good idea? Thanks
Not a bad idea for photography ONLY but there are some major advances with autofocus in newer cameras like the Canon R7
What do you recommend for photography and little videos between range budget 1000$-1400$
Should I get a Conon eos 5dsr ? Mostly I shoot macro and have only ef mount lenses. Thanks in advance for the reply

Hope u can give me some advice
Actually, wait a week and re ask me that question :)
What camera is alen palender using?
Great video
How about the first dslr camera of canon the Canon D30, is still worth buying for side cam? Mounting 70-200mm usm or esm lens ?
Has only 67,000 on the shutter so less than 45% of the rated shutter wear and obviously they usually go WAY longer than that
@@learningcameras thank you for the conversation! Not currently leaning heavy towards another DSLR, however will keep it in mind🙂 Cheers🍺
can you share what camera you shot this video with?
Right now my studio camera is the Sony A7SIII
I’m stuck between the 90d and the r7. What would you recommend? I would like mirrorless full frame tho. Ty
Hi, I’ve come to discover this video a little bit late, are you still selling the Canon 5D Mark iv? How can I reach you?
the R7 is the new 90D replacement. Same sensor, but with all the benfits of mirrorless.

How about the 5dsr for 1499???
The info is very good, but, if possible who is the Model in the wedding and car photos/videos?
I would love to know where are you finding "a ton of EF lenses really cheap." I can't find any price drop at all. Scratching my head. I'm in the market particularly for a Canon 85mm 1.4 IS
So I'm actually selling a bunch of mine and have found they are going for way less than expected. Have a 50mm F1.4, 85mm F1.8, and 70-200mm F2.9L IS II

Should I go with the r7 or a full frame camera? Or just another one not the r7?
For photography
Full frame has some advantages for sure with low light and shallow depth of field but a good full frame camera like the Canon R6 is $1000 more and lenses cost more too so it depends
Please Dan, am starter and actually wanted to get my self canon camera for video and photography . I need one I can start life with what would be your recommendation.
If you can afford the Canon R10, it's the best around right now and one that will take you to the next level bhpho.to/3vapy2R
Put the extension grip on the RP and it makes it feel like its twice as good.

What is the price of ،5D mark IV?

How can I repair 650D ...
How does the r7 fit in here? Do you think it fills the gap?
The R7 is one of the best cameras Canon has made for the price. especially for hybrid shooters. Definitely fills in the gap below the R6 and in my opinion is a better option than the EOS R and 90D for most people
@@learningcameras but the question is, what zoom 2.8 would you suggest? The 15-35 or the 24-70 for the r7?

I would not buy full frame if your budget is $1500. I would 100% get this instead: bhpho.to/3AGP2bO
Hey! What camera would you say is good for beginners for good quality Instagram pictures and a you tuber?
I would definitely check out this camera: amzn.to/3K5AKCq
It doesn't have any crazy features but it's great for beginners and still offers solid quality and no big downsides.
Hi, Dan! Which canon camera would your recommend to a beginner in videography on a budget?
A lot of that background blur is actually a result of a quality lens though so you might want to add on an extra prime lens like this amzn.to/44WHygD

i’m currently wanting to get the M50 mk II i’ve never had my own camera but i have a bit of experience, so i’m a beginner, is the m50 mk II a good choice for me?
Yep, that's still a great beginner camera and one of the best under $1000
I started with Rebel T5 and it was great for starting out, now I’m looking to upgrade as I do photoshoot mainly portraits and fashion photos. Does anyone have some upgrade recommendations for cameras and lenses?
Checkout the new Canon R10. With an adapter it will use your old lenses and in the future you can start using RF lenses
Very helpful thank you. Even more helpful because you have recently sold your 5D4, which I would like to do and then purchase either the R6 or R7. As a hybrid sport shooter, which would you recommend based on the specs and understanding that you actually haven’t tested the R7?
Another point...do you make music videos? thanks, any web or email?
T7? Gotcha bruh, all I needed you to say 👌 I’m gonna start filming skateboarding and don’t know what fish eye lens to use. Some tips would be useful
I have a 15 year old Canon 1Ds Mark III. Is this still a viable camera?
Nothing is stopping you from using it and it will certainly still take very good looking photos if you know what you're doing. The main issues are going to be low light performance, which is kinda just bad compared to anything made in the last 5 years, and the dynamic range.
I’ve been shoot ig with a t51 since 2018 and it is time for an upgrade 😂😂
I used a 5dii that i purchased new when it came out up until 3 years ago lol.
Hello SIR how much are you selling you camera ? please let me know
I'm kinda glad everyone is moving away from the ef mount. Tons of great deals on eBay. I still use my old L glass on Sony all the time lol. You can pick up some great zeiss ef mount for so cheap.
Hi dan I want to ask on what do you think about Canon 5D mark ii
@@learningcameras thank you for your nice advice dear. I will look for new Canon mirrorless cameras. And thank you for video!
How about SL3 for family home videos ?
Dan I’ve heard the 90 D’s AF is quite suspect and that the sensor suffers from a lot of noise as the ISO rises. Not a birder rig…
@@learningcameras Thank you so much!
I consider a Canon camera for my next adventure of photo-taking scenery . I have been using Nikon D90 for 11 years.
Is your video shot on 8bit? Not sure if RUclips compressed the video but I see some color gamut.
So no, I use 10bit...it's the youtube compression for sure
I hope you see some colour gamut, otherwise the video would be monochrome.
5d3 and m6ii are my two body’s rn what’s your take on the micro HDMI’s ? Are they really as bad as people say ?
Love canon ❤️ cool Video
Nice! I'm not totally against micro. I've actually managed to destroy the full size HDMI ports on 2 camera but have never destroyed a micro HDMI terminal so I'm not convinced full size means stronger. Micro is fine for occasional use with short cable runs

Canon eos R
Sony A7III
Sony A7Rii
Nikon Z6II
Panasonic lumix S5

Dan Watson of Infant Annihilator, Enterprise Earth, and Mire Lore is worth a check.
you like the r5 but what about the r5c? Its that better?

Do you think that with the rumours of an RS5 (75 MP sensor), the Canon R5 could drop in price?
Maybe but right now Canon doesn't have much motivation to reduce it...there really isn't much competition over $3000 right now
would you recommend a canon m50 mark II?
It's not bad at all...basically a mirrorless version of the T7 so an all around solid camera for the price without any big feature or ability to make you go wow. I like the fact that it is mirrorless but the downside is that the lenses are only usable on Canon's EOS M lineup which who knows how long that lens mount will be around for so I'd be careful before investing a bunch of money in lenses for it
@@learningcameras Thanks for the information! should i just go with the canon t7? I was considering getting a canon t8i would that be better?
Would you recommend the r6 over the a7iv ?
Both are great cameras. I usually wouldn't recommend the R6 OVER the A7IV, they both have some advantages and disadvantages. The A7IV's biggest weaknesses compared to the R6 are IBIS performance, 4k60 not being full frame, and the buffer being more limited due to the higher resolution. But if you shoot with a CFexpress card, the A7IV buffer isn't horrible.
Hi Dan, what's your opinion about SL3 under $1000
It's not a bad camera at all but it's probably not the best around. I'd best describe it as being average in every area but it also doesn't stand out in any

What about the 5d III?
Love my r6 shoot weddings and portraits with it. I thought the low megapixels would hurt me, but I honestly cant even tell the difference! Im not cropping in a huge amount (if i crop at all), so i find it is perfect. I cant wait for the mark II, if the rumors are true. Hopefully it will adopt the 26 megapixels from the 6D mark II so i do have the option to crop if needed.
Do one for Sony :)
What would be your choice of camera for professional video work?
It doesn't have to be Canon, it could be any brand
Right now Canon, Sony, or Panasonic. Canon has cameras like the C70 and R5c that are amazing for pro video work and Sony has the FX3 and FX6 that are awesome as well. Even their cheaper mirrorless cameras like the Canon R6 and Sony A7IV are still solid. Panasonic just came out with the GH6 that also has some big pro video features
The 1DXiii does have a silent mode using the electronic shutter.
Yeah but you get rolling shutter with moving subjects and the chance of Flicker in artificial lights so not something you should use often. The sensor read speeds are slow
@@learningcameras I still love mines and I take great photos. I also own the R5 and R6.
What do you think about R5C
Kind of torn. On one hand, the only big video features I need from a camera SHOULD be in the R5...basically all they need is to stop the 30min record limit, help the overheating timer, and maybe add 4k120 in a lower quality IPB and I'd be happy. In theory all those can be done via firmware to the R5. On the other hand, I'm not against a dedicated video camera like the R5C although that does come with negatives like size, weight, and a loss of IBIS but some positives like Tally Lamps, better audio options, and fans.
Any suggestions for a camera which can shoot in 4k 60 FPS + also great for photography and is around 2000$?
The Z6II is definitely the one to get at that price
