I think it's because the dialogue was made for Miranda when she wears her usual tight suit that looks like a swimwear, but here she's actually wearing a battle armor so the joke the asari makes seems forced and unnecessary.

Maybe it was DLC in the original that I never got, but the only two options I remember were either the skin-tight classic white jumpsuit, or the skin-tight black leather jumpsuit. I think the real bad writing for that mission is everyone acting like Mirandas sister is a still a child who can't decide for herself if she wants to stay with her family or be with her bio dad instead of the full grown woman she is.
If I recall correctly she's biologically 19, however when she was adopted by Miranda's father he rebuilt her personality. (yes I'm reaching to justify the bad writing)
That's because she is meant to be early underage or, as mentioned by the other commenter around the age of 18-20 years old. Not to mention that Miranda is hella overprotective of her sister. AND we have to keep in mind that BioWare during that era did suck at modelling and implementing real children characters into their games (look at Dragon Age 2s Emporium with the Child!). Much faster and easier to just copy-paste an adult NPC, give it some random clothes and have it treated as "the child" than actually investing resources, animation time and designer time into making a single NPC for a single story mission.
How naive do people actually have to be to think like this? She doesn't have a choice, her genetic father considers her his property...why would he even remotely care about what she wants? That's the whole point of the mission, he's sending mercenaries to KIDNAP her.
It wasn't badly written. The Alternate Appearance Packs DLC just neglected to remove the line if Miranda isn't wearing the same uniform as in the original game.

@@nat129 LE did change that, I had her wearing that black armor during her loyalty mission without mods. After the mission there's a different outfit that is unlocked, which is a black reskin of her default outfit. I think the black armor was available from the start in LE.

Miranda have a nice character development, from the "perfect bitch" to understanding Shepard's advantages over her and why it's not always about "being perfect". But if a "nice ass" is all you can see, well then, jokes on you.
agreed, i tried only having Miranda and Jacob to be dead at the end of ME2 while completing all the loyalty quest, it was the most elaborate scheme i've ever pulled

That is bad writing aswell! reminds me of that Andromeda cutscene that had a character wield a damn gun backwards.

This is Miranda's loyalty mission. You're not supposed to have the black suit yet (or did LE change that?).

I love this scene because she’s the first Asari we encounter who goes against the Asari stereotype of oversexualizing themselves.
I'm pretty sure that's Liara. Unless you count her not wearing armor as oversexualizing. And Hell, Aria... she doesn't exactly offer exotic dances.
The whole game has very bad writing, but this quest in particular was so dumb that almost made me quit.
