Mass Effect: Andromeda is the most recent Mass Effect game unless you're watching this after Mass Effect 4 came out... or maybe it's Mass Effect 5? Either way, I'm not changing this video description. This is famously the terribly-reviewed game that caused EA to put the entire Mass Effect franchise on ice.
But is it really as bad as people on the internet say? well, the truth is more complicated.
This was around the time I learned that the orginal staff and the 2 FOUNDERS of BioWare left the company because they hated what EA was having them do.
And DAMN is it obvious!

I've come to terms that Andromeda is a fantastic B-movie weighed down by being 60 hours long.
It's not your computer. I can run both god ray rtx games and Bethesda games somehow, but Andromeda? Worse than Skyrim with over a thousand mods AND 4K textures.

@@lorddootinator4332I played Andromeda about 6 months ago with R7 5800X, GTX 1660Ti and 16GB of RAM and had barely any issues somehow. Ship still was laggy but is seems to be so because they had genius idea to use path tracing only there at the time when it wasn't popular yet yhus barely any optimisation. I started to have real issues only by second Saudi Arabia with local Shai-Hulud.
Even in light of all the evidence to what should be the contrary, I still had a pretty good time with Andromeda. That said, this video is a masterpiece. Major props to your skills of writing and video editing.
yeah, there's just something about that bioware open world design which focuses on you the player bringing order into a world filled with chaos. same reason i loved DA: Inquisition as well.
I even enjoyed the multiplayer, quite a bit... 😂❤
I am pretty sure that the reason the Aliens never "correct" you for your use of "Andromeda" is because everything you are all saying is being translated via sci-fi translator magic robots. I am like 99% sure that is a thing in the mass effect universe. Basically none of the Aliens you meet in any of the mass effect games actually speak English. My headcanon is that Shepard actually speaks Quebecois.
Yes, exept Javik is the only one to not need them and speak your language. The protean are Imperialist but they will bother to learn your language before enslaving you.
While yes its actualy stated in andromeda that their transalators dont work first time u meet a new species which why the ket dont have language transalated till u go to nexus and get your transalator updated

Let's not forget the fact that the Hyperion comes out of FTL in the very opening of the game, starts waking everyone up, but at a point where the ship still has a nice view of the ENTIRE Andromeda galaxy to set the stage!
I'm not sure if people know this, but a galaxy is just a tad bit bigger than a Walmart parkinglot, and if you can still see Andromeda as a galaxy in the distance, you aren't even remotely close to getting to it! So when they manage to hit an energy cloud in the Helios cluster what seems like at most a few hours later, it means they got around halfway there in 600 years, but the final half in a few hours tops...
If you just wanted to cross from one side of The Milky Way to the other, at say 10 times the speed of light, you would still need a good 12-15,000 years to do it, as our own galaxy is estimated at around 120-150,000 lightyears across!

One of the biggest Missed Opportunities was Colony Management, in that this game has none of that.
I don't just want to set them up, I wanted to run them.
10:02 "Canards" are essentially stabilizing fins on aircraft. Now, why would this be a problem for Spacecraft? Well, spacecraft have no need to Befriend the Spirals, and thus get minimal to no use out of them in the empty void of Space, where there are no Spirals to Befriend.
It also flies in atmosphere, so yeah, not useless at all.
This channel is criminally undersubbed. I hope it grows rapidly now that the Fallout 3 video has been picked up by the algorithm.

Started a new game in Andromeda after Starfield came out, while it’s still definitely my least favorite Mass Effect game it definitely did planetary exploration better than the Todd Squad’s latest slop.
I appreciate that you downloaded the Reaper AmogUs Mod to make a joke but I have to point this out:

The real tragedy of Andromeda is that the combat is BY FAR the best in the series, but it came at the cost of a good story and interesting characters
Thats what I told my husband when he asked why I was playing it. Like yeah I hate pretty much everyone, the storyline is half assed, but wow the combat and exploration!

Happy I came across your stuff, your style is Strong and only getting stronger. There's also a lot of satisfacting watching this treatment done to Andromeda as one of the people who have/had so much nerdrage over it earlier. By now I think I've moved on, but it's still fun to make fun of it.
I seriously cannot tell if the writing on this was always meant to emulate the sitcom slop if the 2000s or if the writers were parasitized by non-union writers before it even started developing

My favorite bit is how the Angara, a race that evolved in a completely different universe and doesn't even have the excuse of the progenitors guiding evolution in the galaxy is somehow physically ( Even if not genetically ) sexually compatible with humans. XD
The Angara ARE an engineered race by the mysterious Jardaan, who also engineered life support systems for human habitable environments.
Considering most ME worlds are semi-compatible for human living without enclosed system, most races on them developed similar adaptation and evolution mechanisms that work well in that environment (with human-like being superior). The only exclusion are races with dextro-aminoacid biology which is alternate biochemistry that still developed in similar environment.
What I say, even IRL we have solid chance to bang an alien if it comes from another earth-like. Just don't forget about antibiotics, as bacterial hazard still presists even on our world. And of course use condoms, you don't want to have alien kids if things are TOO COMPATIBLE, right? RIGHT?

Hot take: I actually want Andromeda 2 to be a thing. Just because the first game failed to meet it's potential doesn't mean it didn't have any. I feel there's enough to springboard off of and even if there was a rocky start, expanding on some of the groundwork that was laid could lead to a good couple games.

Funny enough i started with ME Andromeda, don’t think I actually got the platinum for the game but I did complete every mission. Had tons more fun with it than I thought I would. My characters never bugged out either.
USS genetic bottleneck made me laugh so hard I woke my neighbours. Haven't seen such good jokes and gags in a while. Keep up the good work!

I got this game when it was released.... I didnt have any problems with bugs or the weird playdo faces and was hilarious to see videos and forum posts about it. I thoroughly enjoyed the game, I thought it was pretty and scenic and aside from Peebee (Who I thought was incredibly boring) the characters were interesting. Still, to this day its interesting seeing perspectives of it.

If it was like 30 hours shorter it would have been a great B-Movie type game. The problem is all the traveling between separate maps within the same quest destroys the game's pacing.

I think a lot of ME:A haters miss this fact or choose to ignore it in their coping. There was a lot of people insulting the devs calling them the "D team" and that the "A team" turned up their nose at another ME game. Then Anthem launched and we saw that the "D team" made a significantly better product despite it being the first entire game they ever made themselves.
Yeah, really, if BioWare's A team really was so good then Anthem should have been amazing, but no, it was a disaster while Andromeda is, IMO, actually pretty good.
It's like the whole Bungie vs 343 Halo argument. The Bungie-era Halo Fanboys say that 343 is ruining Halo & that it should be given back to Bungie, but to that I have evidence to the contrary:
Exhibit A: Bungie themselves said they gave up Halo because they told all the stories they could with it & didn't know where else to go after Halo 3
Exhibit B: Bungie's absolutely horrendous handling of Destiny 2 recently (Need I mention the layoffs & the CEO's apparent car obsession?)
If Halo was given back to Bungie then they would ruin it way worse than 343 ever supposedly did
The fact that your choice with the Geth didn't matter in Andromeda blows. It would've been cool if a dude quest had two very different versions depending on your choice, or something. You know, something reasonably sized, not like it would change the whole game, but something small would've been nice.

This actually makes me want to give andromeda another go. I played it like I play fallout and just dicked around for like 3 hours and when I found nothing the slightest bit interesting because I wanted to ignore the main quest I quit. Probably not really fair.
