      2:20 is pretty annoying. You are speaking about technical things so I think you should lower the music a bit so people can understand better what you say. Plus for a ADHD like me it's just plain torture.

      Agreed... bump it all down to 0, except for his talking. I had to mute that shit, while he was working, and hope he didn't to say something while i had that crap muted!

    You should make it clear to viewers that the liquid metal is electrically conductive so one should be very careful when applying noting the exposed contacts around the GPU. A good trick is to use clear nail polish and coat those contacts to essentially provide insulation to them in case any of the liquid metal gets on them.

    • @MrThomasHandley
      @MrThomasHandley 6 лет назад +5

      Dude, I looked into that and had NO IDEA you could use clear nail polish to provide insulation. Thanks for that bit of info. I wish I'd have known that when delidding my 6700K. But it's running good anyhow.

    • @timrock16
      @timrock16 6 лет назад

      is delidding the 6700k worth it? are you seeing results? i think im gonna do the same to mine

    • @MrThomasHandley
      @MrThomasHandley 6 лет назад +1

      Oh hell yes it is WORTH it. At least it is in my eyes. I was just shocked at just how little TIM Intel uses (the quality of the material is something left to be desired as well), there was barely anything between the TIM and the IHS. And what WAS there was basically just powder, I wiped the TIM off the IHS with my finger and it all crumbled into dust. Gaming wise I'd see temps reach 93 C underneath a Corsair H115i and 4.7GHz. Not very good if you ask me..... running Prime 95? Nope, near instant ctd because temps would almost instantly spike to 100-102 C. After delidding.......... I can game with peace of mind because temps never go above 49 C using a Deepcool GAMMAX 400 air cooler. 41 C max when I used to use my H115i but a buddy of mine really wanted to use it so we traded coolers. Meh, 49 C on air at 4.7GHz is not bad at all. Running a stress test like Prime 95 now..... with the air cooler temps will reach about 80 C and basically hover around there for hours. I used Cool Laboratory Liquid Ultra and have no idea if Conductonaut would be any better. I just happened to go with Liquid Ultra. You just have to be careful when squeezing the liquid onto the cpu die. It's a good thing I tried squeezing the liquid onto an old Pentium 4 to practice first because as soon as I squeezed, SPLURGE. Would have been BAD if I tried that on the 6700K while it was installed onto my motherboard. I just took a q-tip and dabbed it onto the pentium 4 and applied very little (enough to cover the 6700K) and the results are AMAZING.

    • @timrock16
      @timrock16 6 лет назад

      Tom Handley yeah as i said im really thinking into delliding my 6700k. What tool did you use? As for the temps. im currently running 4.6ghz and i see my temps going to 80c maybe 85c wich is not critical, but not what id call good, also id like to liquid metal my 1070 and my laptop, hell il even do it on my old phat ps3, just for the sake of it lol.

  • @khmergodhobbies
    @khmergodhobbies 6 лет назад +3

    I did my first Conductonaut replacement with my MSI RX480 Gaming X twice. Once with just adding tim to die and another adding to the heatsink. Tested at 21c ambient and card ran Heaven Extreme for 30 mins and hit 67c stock at 17%fan on auto. First replacement dropped it to 64c. After applying it to heatsink as well because both sides did not completely bond, it dropped down to 60c at 17% fan. Can confirm, applying to both sides of contacts will give better results. I am not ready to Liquid metal my Titan Xp and my SLI Poseidon 1080ti.

  • @B1_GGS
    @B1_GGS 7 лет назад +13

    ive done this twice once with my 980 gtx and now my 1080ti to get better results apply it to the heatsync also their is a small amount of oxidization that happens when applying it this help create a better seal. just make them very thin.

    • @B1_GGS
      @B1_GGS 7 лет назад

      i see a 5-10c decrease with a lot less spiking temps

  • @juliomr100

    You have to put the Liquid Metal in the cooler too, otherwise, it won't transfer heat the way it's supposed to.
    Not to use in aluminium.

    Did you apply it to both sides and not just the IHS? Might want to try redoing it if so. GamerNexus did an episode about liquid metal and his results show both the die and the IHS need liquid metal applied to it do to the surface tension property that liquid metal has.

    • @Aurummorituri
      @Aurummorituri 7 лет назад

      Put liquid metal on my Titan X with a water block. Dropped 15C. It scales with the thermal capacity of your cooling solution. Better cooler nets a bigger drop.

    • @Aurummorituri
      @Aurummorituri 7 лет назад

      Not really when comparing heatsinks. Thermal capacity of your cooler largely determines overall cooling performance when it comes to thermally saturated heatsinks provided ambient temperature and airflow are at optimal levels. Stock vapor chamber cooler is already thermally saturated and cannot absorb much more heat than the stock paste gives it, so no big temp drop with better TIM. Large heatsink or water block has thermal capacity to spare so the extra heat delivered by the liquid metal can be dissipated.

    • @Aurummorituri
      @Aurummorituri 7 лет назад

      Again, I was referring specifically to gpu heatsinks which are already designed for maximum surface area for their size and was comparing the tiny blower card vapor chamber heatsink to a better one in relation to applying better thermal compound. Blower cooler gets rapidly thermally saturated, water-cooled one or big one does not.

  • @Mr1Tanker
    @Mr1Tanker 6 лет назад

    The surface on that heatsink was pretty rough looking! I would do some lapping to get better heat transfer... could save another 2-3 degrees easily.

  • @ItsExetic
    @ItsExetic 7 лет назад +2

    I wonder how cool this card would run with Kraken G12 and Kraken x62 liquid cooling with liquid metal on it

  • @GainingDespair
    @GainingDespair 6 лет назад

    I was thinking it was the cooler as well lol. It's pretty small and just felt it never had the surface area or mass to allow better heat dissipation.

  • @camelt0ez
    @camelt0ez 7 лет назад +2

    it makes no sense why they stopped the titan range from being released by AIB partners! Their coolers suck ass, they would have to be stupid as fuck to not know that they are gimping their own cards!

  • @russlowrey
    @russlowrey 6 лет назад

    Using a copper heatsink with the vapor chamber will definitely improve thermal dissipation. Aluminum is not a great conductor of heat and in return does not dissipate as well as copper. In a perfect world, a silver heatsink would be ideal, but not very cost effective for the manufacturer.

    I picked one of these up used for my girlfriends rig the other day and am thinking about doing the LM swap. I’m not sure if the backplate traps in heat or not but it sure looks like it does, being non vented plastic and all - I removed the back plate off of it like I did with my old blower style Vega in hopes that it’d shed off a few degrees

      I didn’t really get a chance to test both configurations in any satisfactory way but It seemed like thermals improved very slightly though if you prefer the look with the backplate I don’t think it’s makes enough of difference to impact the cards performance

    maybe you can connect one or more 14 cm pc fans (intake pc case) through an air-tunnel to the air-input of the titan or any videocard like that.
    I hope you understand. (Maybe you have to disconnect the fan of the titan, so it cannot work as an generator)
