    I know this is a older video, but the most impressive part was at the very end when she got the Roe Deer to respond to her call, it shows she is the real deal. Most non-hunters would not know that trick and you can even use a blade of grass the same way. I think somewhere it was mentioned her father is a hunter and Dax was her father's hunting dog. I am guessing Lilly knows a lot more than she lets on.

    I've used tarps in these types of shelters before. For the maximum use of your tarp place the edge on the bottom of the shelter where you want it. This lower edge just off the ground keeps water and mold from collecting. Then take the tarp up and over your support slats. With a rope tied tight between the two support trees and just under the slats bring the tarp under the rope then back over the slats. This gives you double thickness and an eaves for rain. To protect the tarp from the rough ends of the slats you can cover them with sock or the cut off ends on water bottles.

      I have a feeling she is hiding something from us. I think someone did vandalize it. Her explanation about her cousin felling tree doesn't make sense. there is no evidence of a cut tree, not even a tree stump. The damage itself doesn't look like a tree fell on it. I think it was vandalized and I think she is hiding the identity of the perpetrator for personal reasons.

      Yup. I noticed that as well. When water runs down, it will collect and gather up in that excess tarp, no matter how well you cover that side. It has no way going out of the tarp at the bottom.

    • @beyondvger3682
      @beyondvger3682 3 года назад

      The water will drain away from her floor the way she has the tarp folded. If you folded it under, the water would run down the side of the tarp and go right in. And I think she didn't hang it over the front because that would keep smoke in from the fire inside the bug out shelter.

    I think you should have rolled the excess tarp towards the inside of the shelter, so rainwater would not collect in the folds/rolls. Other than that, an amazing camp you've built. Also, you are looking good girl.

Honestly, how i dealt with wasp nest, Full motorcycle gear, helmet and all, after dusk, quick blast with wasp nest spray and run inside, And then called professional pest control people after a few days when it didn't work. totally going to work tomorrow to recommend this channel to everyone there.

    A couple of suggestions. The short logs you sit on. Maybe split them for a flatter surface to lie on. And then you would need less short logs too!
    The tarp should be set up for rain catchment.
    And put that dog to work! He can drag logs or catch rabbits! :)
    Love your videos!!!

  • @educatingjohnson372
    @educatingjohnson372 9 лет назад

    If I may make a suggestion. From a construction point of view, I would reset your tarp so the excess is at the top of your lean-to. As you have it, water will collect at the base in the rolled up portions of the tarp, creating an ideal environment for mold and bugs to flourish. With the excess portion of your tarp at the top, you can pull it down over the front when not at camp, and furl it up like a sail when in use. Also it would make an additional wind break for rough, windy winters.

    hey Lily, must say, you sure have lots of strength, courage and persevearance! I think there are many men who could not come up with what you do. I respect that. If you role the trap on the bottom, then at least role itthe other way around so no water can get trapped in it. Maybe role it around a pole with the pol on the inside of the shelter. If I may ask, what purpose do these walls have, the way you set them up? Is it soem sort of protection or just to create a homey-space? Keep it up!

    Lily when I give my dog's water out of a plastic bottle like you were doing I use the other end of the bottle I buried into the ground and then it's longer for their noses so bury the mouthpiece of the bottle in like a couple of inches of dirt it works very well when I'm camping

  • @fscii71

    2:14 Lily I would roll the tarp the opposite direction. The way you roll it up it can collect water around the back and sides. Rolling it underneath will eliminate that.

    My only comment about your re-build (I know this is an old video...) It might be better to fold the tarp into the shelter (as a partial floor), rather than bunching it up on the outside. It could trap water and breed mosquitos. Plus, a little bit of plastic to put some gear on is handy.

    Just some Rebuild Ideas that could Help: a Extra Long Limb/Fell Tree across the Top of Lean to & Hang a Line down to support Hanging Pots over fire and as Day Drifter mentioned... Roll Tarp Under or it will Hold Water when it rolls Down the Roof (Big time Mold & Mosquito nest here) also if you let the Tarp hang over the Front a little, with a couple Ropes Forward and you get a little more Frontal Coverage.

      Chris Dorris You can do the same thing with a large blade of grass. (3-4 inches long by about half an inch wide - sorry, if you use metric I don't know the conversion sizes) If you put your thumbs together side by side you should see a small hole between the 1st and 2nd knuckles, pinch the blade between your thumbs making sure to keep the blade as rigid and straight as possible, then blow into the hole. May take a few tries to get it to work right.

      Mr.Salpling : that is great, if you were lucky enough to be raised in a small village.

    Hei Survival Lilly. Survival Lilly against vermin oder so.
    Liebe Grüße aus Berlin
