Lilly, I've tried to build a camp, something similar to yours, but I've been warned to stop because I was damaging a protected tree. Do you know what trees are protected and how to identify them?
      Much appreciated,

you can build a shelter like this without the use of a tree. using a tree just makes it a little easier.

That was a great idea to put that shelf there. Big return in function from a small unused space. The whole shelter is a very impressive mix of skills and ingenuity. It is a great place to go to escape, even just for an afternoon. We've all dreamt of having forts/hideaways, but you're really doing it...that's awesome.

Watching you and others on YT building survival shelters reminds me of my childhood when my brothers, friends and I used to build "forts" in the woods with stuff we could harvest and find. Not one, but dozens. I figure building shelters is in our DNA. :) Good work on the shelf.

+flysubcompact I used to love to build 'forts' in the woods behind our house... As a boy, I lived on the us navy base in Gitmo Bay, Cuba..back in 60-62'. As boys, it was all a an adventure.. We'd play 'war' in the hills..after building our 'forts'.. Navy jets would fly over..and we pretended they belonged to us.. Haha...

I thought you might make a nice little table so you don't have to eat with your plate on your knees! An idea, if I might suggest: if you drive four stakes with cords at a certain height, you can lay one or two boards across to make a removable platform. You would probably benefit from having a sturdy work table too so maybe you want to build something that can fold up for storage. Hope to see more videos in future. I found your vid on the birch oil so I will watch that one next. Thank you!

Thanks Lilly, I find out that I have a leveling problem in the middle of night, when I slide out of my bag. Also, in future, I will chop wood like you. With your method, or procedure, there is less of a chance of injury, should you miss. ( are you leaving an axe and saw so that your guests will replace your fire wood?) ( I would, at least, leave you more beer! ) Thanks again, Dan.

Hey Lilly, immer wieder toll dein Camp zu sehen. Echt klasse was du dir da aufgebaut hast.

That big bow saw your using is such a usefull tool. I often thought if someone were to design a saw without the bow part but just a long folding saw blade [that you could put in your rucksack] so that when you got to your campsite you could just find a piece of branch that you could bend into a bow handle?

You need a toolbox just for your camp. A hammer would be way more effective for hammering nails in then a axe. I recommend a 5gallon bucket within it containing things like tools, bottled water, fishing pole (disassembled), etc. You can burry you Bucket of supplies nearby your camp or tied up into a tree so it can't be raided by animals or random people

    Hi Lily.
Out of curiosity, as there a reason you opted for a full length leg for the shelf (floor to tarp) rather than taking the measurements, cutting the wood and nailing to the horizontal support and then using some cordage to suspend the shelf from the "ceiling"? Not a criticism, just curious, that's all.
Thanks for uploading and have a great winter :)

Cool table right there, my friend (though it looks more like a shelf than table)! You have invested a lot of effort in that bug out camp, which makes me want to ask - if it is a bug out camp/shelter, isn't it too big and in your face? I mean, I bet you can see it from a distance so it kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Don't get me wrong, I love the camp (I'm making something similar) and really enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing and keep safe out there))

+Survival Lilly...camp too big?? Well, I'm not so sure. I have noticed that part of your camp is very well hidden with natural forest material while other areas like the log walls are left naked. You could continue to hide the whole outer area and it would really not stand out very much at all. And as far as size is concerned, well...hopefully you will not have to bug out alone and if so, the size of your camp would serve rather well.

Always a well done video with useful content and enjoyable outdoor adventures... I wish I was more familiar with the terminology, like 'bug-out camp'. In any event, these episodes are always charmingly insightful :) Thank you!

Hey +Survival Lilly , what do you think about using the rest of the boards for a 'mobile table' right next to the sleeping place. I've seen you more than once doing stuff (mix food together etc.) while placing things onto your bed for this. The canteen was quite often close to tip over, which would be really bad if you were in a survival situation. Maybe a single pice of this board on the edge of the surface could be enough for a proper and saver preperation place.
I like your videos a lot and hope you will share your fun with us for a long time.
