My brother learned to build structures like this in the Army. Years ago he was stationed on a long wooded stretch on the border between East and West Germany during the winter. Since there was little to do but catch glimpses of similarly bored East German guards, he decided to build a structure similar to this. He said it was surprisingly comfortable and he and the other guys would take breaks in there, reading and playing cards.
@squidwardo7074 I don't really vibe with that. It's not about regret or doing something out of anxiety that the opportunity will pass you by. It's more about doing what the soul wants to do to feel complete in the moment. Following your bliss. The point I was hinting at is that often the task of surviving is something that fills us with great anxiety, but wild outdoor pursuits turn that anxiety into a source of joy and relaxation, and provide a feeling of personal acheivement and accomplishment that has nothing to do with how much money you're earning or how many social or professional connections you have. It's all about stripping life down to it's bare necessities and enjoying them to the max.
My only thought watching you building in that valley was I don’t want to see what happens when the snow melts. Great video! I grew up in the woods and me and my siblings/cousins would always build ‘forts’. They progressively got more complex and sturdy as we got older, but now that we’ve all gotten older older, we don’t have the time to play in the woods anymore. Im glad you’re able to :)
My first thought... why go thru the trouble of showing how to build a shelter that is absolutely not a safe place to stay anytime except while it is frozen over. Make the video building a shelter in a safe area
My uncle built a Tiny little cabin in the woods on his Dad's property. in the swamp. This was right before vietnam. Part of it still stands. My Dad still uses that as a deer blind!
Agreed, the angle of the hills looks like it's a natural area for runoff. Even if he returned and found it intact it doesnt mean water isnt likely to flow there, I wouldn't stay there in summer or spring
I may not be a construction engineer, but I do know that water runs downhill and straight into channels like the gully this thing is built in. Wouldn't want to be there when the first rainstorm hits

You should try to make yourself something ir just go out and try to practice some of the skills you like watching so much. I started doing the same bc of my depression and mental health was taking a toll. I’ve been taking short trips into the woods in my backyard and collected a bunch of downed trees and dead standing trees that would fall over during the wind /snow storms and now it’s been a couple weeks and I’ve built a 6.5 foot tall x 7 x 7 feet shooting hut with a table/ gun bench 3 logs wide just using things I’ve learnt while watching bushcraft videos and camping videos. I was gonna weave a whole wall and window but boyyy does that take a lot of saplings / bendy branches and ALOT OF TIME.. so I’ve built the whole thing like a quilt. This Can you come at war another technique I’m not trying to make a window with another technique. Lol I’m 30. Im from Germany and once I was working for my grandfather who has a small handyman business. I had to cut the big trees surrounding our property. So I was hanging up there in a big ass tree and one of our customers, an older guy came along with my grandfather, looked at me and said "if watching one work is so much fun already how much fun must it be to work yourself" and laughed. I suppose its an old German saying that I never heard before but I always remember that moment. It was so funny to me and your comment made me think of it.

I am by no means an expert, or even experienced in wilderness shelter building, but that little ravine, while looking cool, looks like a really good place for water to run. At least, once the weather turns warmer.
That was my first thought ...cool shelter but location is as important as skills ..when the snow melts you now have a creek running through the middle of your shelter?
@@littleguy38jlw Do you really think he lived there for two months? He packed no food but yet he had carved chicken, he has a multitude of candles and enough batteries for weeks and a supply of gloves on hand?
As cute as the dog shelter is, who wouldn't sleep *with* their dog in sub zero temperatures? The dog's still outside in a shelter that doesn't close, where the fire and sleeping bag aren't, and it's a short haired puppy, not an adult long-haired winter coat husky. Plus sleeping with your pets keeps *you* warm.
I was just wondering if this shelter can be used in case of a heavy rain? Won't it be flooded or washed away by the water as it is situated in between the two hills ? Apart from that that is a great job you have done with the shelter. Admire your survival skills!
@@arthursparks-topic860 no, there is something wrong with you. The inability to pick up sarcasm when applied to another sarcastic remark . Enjoy your own shortcomings pal.
Awesome work, and it’s cool you built your pup a little house of his own, but you could have brought him in at night. Companionship and warmth are a dog’s needs too.
My first thought was the building in a water channel is only temporarily useful. But during the winter it makes sense to me to keep thecstructure out of windy are and insulated on the bottom/sides and structurally supported. Good for laying low and no silhouette, as well, if thats needed.
@@gaymurr988 yup, I'm familiar. Water goes to lowest point obviously. But considering the right location, climate, need, and time of year I can see the benefit. At least as a temp location during winter months. Possibly for evasion if your way out there. I'll leave it up to the real SERE Cadre who know best.
Really great shelter! I was wondering if the placement in the lower area meant a chance of a “flash flood” but maybe with the temps this low, it’s not a concern as precipitation would be snow.
Exactly what I was thinking when I first saw the thumbnail shot, it’s built in the middle of a dried up run off creek. Oh well, great shelter until spring anyway 👍🏼 and great video that lasts forever anyway
When he started lifting up the grass I started to wonder about all the weight on that roof caving in. Mad man. Also absolutely brilliant. Wished I had the will and skill to do this myself. Dog also one of the best bits of the video 😀
Not sure what your weather is like there but around here at the first hint of rainy season that's going to be a stream you built in. Don't get me wrong, very cool build ....
It was obvious it's going to flood from the get go. all those smooth stones really made it clear just what that area usually goes through. Might as well have been taking stones from a creek bed. Cool shelter but definitely not a permeant structure.
@@zulfito9824 Uh, because hes obedient hes comfy? Lol. I mean why not let it inside, I'd love my dog inside with me. Dude prefers to be all alone I guess.
Far too much work and time to build such a dark and damp shelter like that. Much better to simply use a good quality tent that can be moved quickly and easy to any location. Or drive a 4WD vehicle to anywhere and sleep in that.
The thing is you can live these fantasies. Dissapear into the woods and never be seen again. You just love convenience too much and that's why you will become a slave living in a pod and eating bugs soon enough.
@@ramizinthewild Your statement shows your ignorance/empathy about dogs and you should not own one. I suspect the only reason you have a dog is for your videos. In my opinion, the most impresive thing he have done in the video was being in this place for 60 days without becoming mad, i have live in the middle of the forest for 7 mounth and for sure thats the most difficult part, not knowig the hour you live in, and not baing able to procrastinate so your mind can relax from the thing you are doing to survive. In my oppinion, the best item you can have in a deseted island is a knife, its the most esenyial thing in survival
lotta dogs especially outside dogs don't like being cooped up inside all night, a dog house outdoors especially one built into the ground like this provides alot of insolation in heat and in cold
I think a dog is supposed to have a place to sleep, just not in the house. Also it really depends on the breed of the dog cause like a German Shepherd really isn't built for house life. I think a dog is supposed to have it's own little dog house though with a mattress in it.
@@bravoyab9634 I have an inside dog personally, but a dog is not a citizen of anything. but aside pretending that an animal that is built for hunting and surviving in the wild is incapable of living outdoors is crazy talk

If you think this is a good build DO NOT go stay in the wilderness. This shelter is for entertainment purposes only. The valley he built in is for water runoff, his shelter is basically a dam.
Thank you Ramiz! I have been gathering ideas for a shelter of my own and this is one of the best yet for my purposes. In the type of location you have chosen, with a little more work your design can be hidden from view and extended as required.
That is the most beautiful thing ever. There me thinking you was building your shelter but you was making sure your puppy was warm and comfortable first ❤

@@robothecoolguy Yes because going into the middle of a forest in extremely cold temperature and building your own shelter including a shelter for your dog and living there for 2 months is your average camping trip.
Crazy to think that this is what humans originally did to survive. Our ancestors were really strong. Edit: I watched the whole video. Great job, your dedication and skill are really impressive.
This feels like one of those building with primitive tools videos but actually using modern equipment offscreen. Like how you showed carrying couple pieces of wood then seconds later you had a bunch of perfectly cut pieces.
He also claims to have done it alone, but included hand held shots of him doing something else, so there was obviously someone holding the camera (also the dog was looking at that person at 16:40)
I can't imagine he's claiming to have done it on his own without modern tools. You can clearly see it's nailed together in multiple shots, the door uses modern stainless steel hinges, and the door frame is held together with bailing wire. It's weird he's cutting out the shots showing him cutting the wood, nailing it all together, and screwing in the screw for the hinges, but I don't think he's claiming it's bushcraft of any sort is he? I mean, it's pretty obvious cut logs aren't just found in the forest, and his wooden cooking log is obviously cut with a chainsaw...

Yes very good, however after the place is built, he should let him in with the warmth
My brother learned to build structures like this in the Army. Years ago he was stationed on a long wooded stretch on the border between East and West Germany during the winter. Since there was little to do but catch glimpses of similarly bored East German guards, he decided to build a structure similar to this. He said it was surprisingly comfortable and he and the other guys would take breaks in there, reading and playing cards.

ice baths/cold showers are great for this reason it puts your body in survival mode
go do it. start planning it out now. otherwise you're gonna be too old to do it and will wish you had

As cute as the dog shelter is, who wouldn't sleep *with* their dog in sub zero temperatures? Plus sleeping with your pets keeps *you* warm.
Came here to say exactly this! I felt sorry for the dog. Should have been in the hut with him, especially when it was snowing and at night time.
Dogs don't require the warm temps that humans do.
That's bullshit. Leaving the dog outside like that is animal abuse. It's not a wolf or coyote. Does not have a winter coat.

I suspect the dog did sleep inside with him. He just didn’t film it.
I was just wondering if this shelter can be used in case of a heavy rain? Won't it be flooded or washed away by the water as it is situated in between the two hills ? Apart from that that is a great job you have done with the shelter. Admire your survival skills!

In my oppinion, the best item you can have in a deseted island is a knife, its the most esenyial thing in survival
i mean, i'd go with a fatter dude so that i'd have more to eat once the food runs out
I want something exactly like this as a hunting cabin. Also the dog deserves to sleep inside too!!
lotta dogs especially outside dogs don't like being cooped up inside all night, a dog house outdoors especially one built into the ground like this provides alot of insolation in heat and in cold
@@juwebles4352 blahblahblah Just say u treat your dog like a 2nd class citizen
@@juwebles4352 yeah, no.
I’m subscribing just because of how he treats his dog! Nice hut mate
😊❤😊❤
Thanks enjoy watching
Massive respect for prioritizing the dog house before making a shelter for yourself.
thank you very much enjoy watching.
Jesus loves you
@@braxtonpayne9093 go away 🎣🕳
@braxtonpayne9093 but not the kids being raped everyday. What a mighty God you serve.
только собака на улице, а этот живодер возле печки и в спальном мешке 😡
Thanks for the amazing video. I really like when there's no talking. Just the hard work of a man and the woods around him! Also very cute dogy!
I’m only at 3:41 in and I can say this is the best build I’ve seen in any video I thought you were building a fire pit but you got your priorities right 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks a lot.😇
@@ramizinthewild I hope the dog will not be cooked in his own fire pit 🤣
If you think this is a good build DO NOT go stay in the wilderness. This shelter is for entertainment purposes only.
The valley he built in is for water runoff, his shelter is basically a dam.
Dog first, priceless ❤
you are absolutely right
And then leaving outside in that fucking weather, a great man alright, a pure selfish wanker is what he is
Nothing like craftsmanship. Very impressed..well done ol' boy. The window
thanks enjoy watching.
Thank you Ramiz! I have been gathering ideas for a shelter of my own and this is one of the best yet for my purposes. In the type of location you have chosen, with a little more work your design can be hidden from view and extended as required.
there are lizards in your walls
there are lizard people in your walls
lizard people
I am very glad that this video was useful to you good luck to you.😇
You built a shelter for your dog before yourself. You are the best kind of human. I wish you all the best in the world. Nice build by the way.
Thanks a lot.🥰
I love that dog hes just so cutee also nice shelter bro
That is the most beautiful thing ever. There me thinking you was building your shelter but you was making sure your puppy was warm and comfortable first ❤
thank you she is my friend of course I will take care of her.
Can tell this guy is a perfectionist and cares about aesthetics. He didn’t just want to make something practical, he wanted it to look nice at the same time.
You are absolutely right. Enjoy watching.
Excellent building!👍
thank you✊✊✊
the dog is so cute 😊😊
yes my dog is cute😊
Absolutely fantastic and amazing what you build
THANK YOU. ON MY CHANNEL THERE WILL BE SUCH VIDEO IN THE FUTURE.
Of course, this kind of video is very often entertaining, but sometimes you really get the eyes opened.
In my case, making a stove out of a three times perforated tree-trunk made me speechless - and fascinates.
So - at least for this revelation - thank you very much for this episode, Ramiz.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It is known as Finnish stove if I remember correctly and is a very popular choice in survival situations because the internal burning can be sustained for days.
@@gbyjrjn Good to know!
Honestly: I was wondering "What the heck is he doing?" A table maybe or something like that?!
And then 💥 my mind exploded ...
*"That works??"* ... Yep, obviously.👍
Gives dystopian kind of vibes, amazing. Truly makes me feel like I should abandon modern life and go live in the woods even thought I know It would end badly.
Gen z discovers camping
@@robothecoolguy Yes because going into the middle of a forest in extremely cold temperature and building your own shelter including a shelter for your dog and living there for 2 months is your average camping trip.
@@Luvmyswag not every camping trip is average
Nothing could bring me more joy than being in the woods with a shelter and mans best friend!
Yes, you're right, it's very calming.
Crazy to think that this is what humans originally did to survive. Our ancestors were really strong.
Edit: I watched the whole video. Great job, your dedication and skill are really impressive.
LOVE ❤ THE PUP HOUSE!
Yes, she likes cute little houses.
Nice dog
Nicer rat too
It’s even more crazy when you realise he has to put in an extra 20% more work that we don’t see just moving the camera. This man is an inspiration!
Thank you very much and enjoy your viewing I am very glad that you noticed this work that is not noticed by most
Now that's awesome! I loved how he built his dog a house before his own! That speaks volume!
Thank you very much, enjoy your viewing. and many people don’t understand this.
Nice build! My only remark is that you made your dog stay outside!
this is not a domestic dog. she will howl inside and she will not be able to live inside.
Funny how people have not ever seen real hunting dogs. They do not live indoors Lisa
@@nicechock I think some people bully Ramiz...
Love this, 🏕️ how he took care of his dog first and doghouse this is absolutely amazing ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you. I take good care of my dog.😍🥰
This feels like one of those building with primitive tools videos but actually using modern equipment offscreen. Like how you showed carrying couple pieces of wood then seconds later you had a bunch of perfectly cut pieces.
You comment feel like you're one of those "creators".
I mean, it's pretty obvious cut logs aren't just found in the forest, and his wooden cooking log is obviously cut with a chainsaw...
wtf
I like that shelter for dog 💚
enjoy watching😍
Came for the shelter, stayed for the puppy.
Stayed for that adorable little pup 🥰 also this video is so soothing to watch right before bed
Enjoy watching .
Great work. I can’t get over how perfect the soil is for this too
Soil is just the perfect amount of moistness
Your doggy is so cute! It’s quite heart warming you built their shelter first!
thank you, enjoy watching, yes my dog is adorable.
I love this guy. He took care of his pup before himself. A pet is a charge just like a child. If you're unwilling to care for one dont get it.
thank you, enjoy your viewing.😇😍
Awesome shelter. Loved the adventure. Thank you.
Thanks a lot. I could not respond to your feedback, I just didn’t notice a lot of feedback. I will try to answer everyone.💖
The masculine urge to go out and do this myself is unbelievable
I think it's very kind of you taking care of your puppy first
thanks enjoy watching.
My son spent many summers at a camp that taught primitive survival skills. So many hours working on friction fires and debri huts among other things. I cant wait to show him your videos!
and what does my house have to do with it? I didn’t start a fire there. And something else!!!???????
I could literally watch your videos all day. I'm glad I've found your channel ❤❤
THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I WILL ADD MORE VIDEO
When summer comes the Beavers will love their new luxury dam you've built!❤👍🤩

- Dude started off with shelter for his dog before starting his own
-Dude made a nicer place than my appartment with literal mud
Hats off and chins down people
That place looks suspiciously like a drainage ditch... I wouldn't be caught putting a tent there, let alone a semi-permanent shelter! Awsome video though mate, loved the build part of it!
Yup, a drainage ditch or a naturally-formed "draw" - Either way I wouldn't bet on the shelter being comfortably dry when the thaw comes.
10/10 I love it, please leave it so if someone is ever so lucky to stumble upon it.
Thank you, I am leaving these huts and in the summer I return there to rest.
I like so much of that you built a place just for your doggy 🥰
I like how you made a stove outta the log 😎
of course, how could it be without this little house.
