BIG NEWS: I have designed my own Survival Knife called “APO-1”. You can get it now at my online store: www.survivallilly.at/ Thank you so much for your support
Hey Lilly, just a quick addition to your winter camp. I spent 8 years in the U.S. Army, and some time in Korea. In February that country is freezing. When I was a young soldier, we bedded down for the night in our sleeping bags (arctic and rated to -15 deg.) we had our uniforms on and that consisted of, field jacket, tunic and trousers, sweater, scarf, wool gloves, wool underwear and heavy socks. Most of us rolled our field jackets as pillows, but we're ready to sleep in the other stuff. An old sergeant came around and made us strip down to our long underwear. He told us if we slept in our close we wouldn't warm up during the day because we would never be as warm as in our bags. He also told us to sleep in our socks, but put an extra pair folded in our coat, that way the sock would be warm and dry to wear. Long story short: 1. sleep in a warm sleeping bag with only enough to keep you warm through the night 2. Spread your top layers out under the bag and sleep on them, it will keep them warm and dry, but not hot. 3. Sleep on your coat with and extra pair of socks tucked in. 4. Sleep in a knit cap it head wrap and keep your heavy hat for the day. Hope this helps for when you brace a week in your awesome shelter. You are the best, love your videos.
In Boy Scouts we were tought the part about not sleeping in your clothes and spreading them out under our sleeping bag and we told that the reason for getting out of you clothes is to let the moisture from wearing them dry out so they will be better insulators during the next day. Seemed to make a difference.
That was an OUTSTANDING overnighter Lily !! The NUTS for your animals friends illustrates what a CARING & CONSIDERATE individual you are ..... Dax THANKS you for taking such good care of him too !!
Thank you Lilly fir sharing this video..I'm currently doing a walk over 2000 miles from Massachusetts to Texas and it's winter now...your video is heart warming and I will watch aa many as possible..my journey is for homeless veterans...be blessed and you are a wonderful person..Prax
I was stationed in Germany in the late 70's and Early 80's. The German people in general are a great nation. They are hardy and friendly, for the most part. Lilly personifies this in every way. This is a great video. Love that you brought your dog along. When you brought out the beer, I had to chuckle. You go girl.
I've been watching your videos and have subscribed. I love watching you love what you do. You bring a smile to my face every time you are finished for the evening and ready to pop your beer and relax. I'm so glad to see you have the courage to camp alone as far as being a woman is concerned, I have only camped 3 x in my life and I loved it. I'm old now, but would still love to do it. You have been such a delight to watch and encouraging. Do it all Lilly while the body is able, live your life to the fullest , and take God with you ;).
Enjoy your time in nature, be kind and loving to your dog, savor your one and only beer today and leave a gift for the forest animals... perfect message.
***** Yes, Vikings! Read some history. Most of the northern Germanic tribes, the Russians, Hungarians, Austrians, Romanians, and even northern Turks were infiltrated and over-run by Vikings. Look at the old Nazi propaganda films where they tout their arian Viking heritage. The largest brick castle in Eastern Europe is a Viking stronghold in southern Hungary. Yes Vikings. I meant it as a compliment to her. What would you call her? A Yuppy Urban Generation Xer out for a romp in the woods?
Rick Bohleber No, I don't call her anything. I don't go around trying to characterize others. By the way, you're talking about some mighty ancient history that very few Europeans today would identify with.
Joe Robinet Bushcraft Oh, I'm sorry to hear that about Scout, Joe. He sure seems to like going out with you. I like how he thinks every piece of wood you process belongs to him! No matter how big it is! Maybe your little girl would like a new puppy! ATB…Tim
Great videos Lilly, I really enjoy them. Just a suggestion if I may. You might consider adding a few paper plates to your kit. Use these when you feed your dog. This way the food does not get on the ground inside your shelter area where small bits of left over dog food can attract other animals or ants. When the dog finishes eating just toss the paper plate in the fire and you don't have to worry about any left overs. Just an idea. Keep those videos coming, we are really enjoying them here in Alabama. Austria is a beautiful country.
I noticed your shelter is good for long term stay. Depending on what country you live in you should consider perhaps planting a few fruit trees and raspberry bushes near/ around your camp. Becuase if something where to happen and you had to stay in it long term the Fruit would be good to eat.
I know others have said it before, but can I just say I found it absolutely BEAUTIFUL how you left some nuts for the wildlife, as a 'thank you'. So many people forget that it takes balance to make humans and nature work well together. Awesome video, I envy your skills! Oh, was this filmed on your Canon Legria, or do you have another camera now?
At 4:59 , 9:11 , 9:16 , and 11:18 you have captured some amazing scenes. The blue light of twilight at 4:59, the fire scenes at 9:11 and 9:16, the morning in the woods at 11:18. Truly lovely. Excellent photography / cinematography.
Nice. I miss winter camping. Haven't been able to winter camp since becoming disabled, 20 yrs ago. Watching your videos allows me to remember how nice it is. Ty.
LG Felix
Yes indeed. The use of the blanket sewn is smart and it does take up space though it is so woerh it in cold weather. [ Die Verwendung der Decke genäht ist schlau und es braucht Platz, obwohl es bei kaltem Wetter so ist. ]

Lilly, I've been power-watching your videos for a solid week now and am thoroughly hooked. Your bushcraft is excellent but I really love your videography and the way you tell such an inviting story in only 13 minutes. I'm also tickled by the quantity (and quality) of your adoring fans. Kudos to you and Dax!
Is your Dog a Small Munsterlander? I've got a SM and live in Canada. He's a great dog and a great hunter (saw your other video which Dax hunting ducks with you). Great to see that.
I find it incredible that while I watch this on a warm sunny day in SoCal, I breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed when Lilly got the fire lit. Imagine the first human who demonstrated fire to his clan. He must have achieved godhood!
Hey Lilly, I'm stuck in town for a while and misses so much living in the forest and just being out on the road all year. I'd like to thank you for sharing with us those moments, brings back good memories and help me not freaking out until the day I'll finally go back to the wild. Much love to you and your companion.
Have watched this series of videos 3 times over the past year. Very inspiring!! I grew up in forest environment with camping and the like but now live in the desert so i live a bit vicariously through you Lily! THANK YOU from my family and me!
+musicisbrilliant It's doubtful, since beer has been around for likely over 4,000 years making it impossible to document who actually made the idea up!
Another excellent video; there's not too many blokes who would like to do a night out in that weather. Some great ideas in there, Lilly. Brilliant, thank you for sharing. Baz

Great camp, very well laid out , very nice that you took your favorite critter with you, i can't camp without my terrier , he always goes .. Very well done on your video, as always i enjoy your filming of your bushcrafting ...
As far as I know, Lilly makes an effort filming and editing herself. Stick your camera on or onto something and stand before it, then move and start over, do post production with editing etc. About the dog. That could, have been a fun joke, but sadly, the dog at the time passed away last year. Lilly mentioned this several times, including in one Q&A video.
Rhonda Kelley I agree that both genders should post a lot about survival. But if your comment is sincere, (I wouldn't know, as I am a male.) it just goes to show that minimalist packing, and bugging out in groups could yield much more than you'd think.
+Zednought Wastelander I agree with Rhonda 100%. The thing is, men are literally biologically designed to carry heavy things on our shoulders; we are not. So trying to go lighter is always a good thing for a woman. I think more women should post camping/hiking/bushcraft videos!
Agreed with Rhonda and Rachel, from a man's perspective. A lot of male survivalists go overboard with the "stuff" aspect of outdoor survivalism and overpack until they look like Sam Gamgee from the LotR movies. I always like watching the (few) female backpackers' videos out there because there's a big focus on minimalism and ultralight packing. I've met women who were better at "roughing it" than a lot of guys simply because they can't carry all that crap and don't really have a choice.
+UncleFexxer agree with that but have to add, until recently the ultra light gear wasn't available and us older guys and the ladies, we had to use what w's available, which means the heavy gear, and as we are used to it and have it e still use it, though for me am sow replaying with the light gear so long as it has longevity and does what its spose to do, am all for it 😉
I absolutely love your videos! I love winter bushcraft camping. My friends and family think I am crazy but they don't know what they are missing...keep the vids coming!!!
I never thought about carrying something like fur...It sounds like a good idea to me! You use what you have access to, and are comfortable with. Very nice video!
Lilly, I have enjoyed your videos so much. They are basic survival instructions and easy to try. Personally I would ditch the salami and rice and get Campbell's soup. They are easy to prepare and taste so good. I would also drape a tarp or visqueen over the entrance to block wind and rain or snow from getting on my bedding, etc. Also my dog would be hurt if I didn't let her sleep with me. Thanks for your adventures.
Good preparation, excellent filming, and capturing nature as it really is without the hype. Also nice technique with your fire build and shelter. All around an enjoyable video.
We're using your videos in preparation for a six month stay in the woods. We plan on using game and to forage to supplement our food supply. My better half really enjoys watching your videos and it was her idea after watching your series on building your bug out shelter.
You can tell a lot about people, by the way they treat animals. You are good and kind, keep up the good work - very nice and entertaining to watch :D Cheers from Denmark
Looks like a great trip! I need to find a place like that where I can try making shelters. Glad you have a place to go Lily. You are an inspiration to me.
13:31 actually it is possible to be burnt depending on what hot item you are holding and the thickness of the material/gloves, anyone who has mistakenly grabbed a tray from their oven with a folded tea towel they thought was dry (but wasn't) soon finds out that the dampness quickly converts to superheated steam and scolds. I have found leather gloves like the Patrolman types sold by Hatch work well moving and holding tins which have been heated by an open fire :) Nice shelter :)
Just found your video. Enjoyed watching your prep for camping. Great you brought a sheep skin for Dax. Have watched 3 of your videos now and will watch more. You are real. Appreciate. Jim, TN USA
te felicitó eres una mujer muy fuerte.un ejemplo. un buen ejemplo. gracias por sus vídeos. todo lo que expone usted.es realidad. soy su fans. desde América Central. good luck

A pagan tradition to leave offerings to mother nature thanking her for the things she gave us

Lilly is a Viking Warrior Princess. Thousands of people might survive from the lessons taught here.
+Rick Bohleber Viking Warrior Princess? In Austria? Her profile says she's in Austria and the book she was reading was written in German.

I love the "give back" to nature..good for you for your expression of appreciation and as always, thank you for all your lessons.

LG Felix
Yes indeed. The use of the blanket sewn is smart and it does take up space though it is so woerh it in cold weather.

You can actually get one heck of a steam burn from wet gloves.
Boo put a sock in it
Pres LOL Well, my message was for those out there who actually don't want to be injured. To each his own, though. :D
its nice that you give the dog a sheepskin to sleep on - i wonder if the dog would drink beer
Seen more than one dog get drunk
Your rude to think of something like that

Mark M I have to use beer to sedate my dog during hurricanes here in Florida
My dog loves beer

A bottle of BEER?!?!?! Theres no girls like you out there, Lilly!
+musicisbrilliant WTF? Women invented beer.
+asteroid684 Shes pretty original, you have to admit. But did girls really invent beer??
+asteroid684 Plus I was being a little silly. I know some girls like beer too.
+musicisbrilliant I agree, she's awesome!
+musicisbrilliant It's doubtful, since beer has been around for likely over 4,000 years making it impossible to document who actually made the idea up!
I really like beer.
Oh wow an extremely original, artistic, and awe-inspiring comment that had me on the edge of my seat.
Why thank you! That's very kind of you!
Unfortunately, I can't say the same about your rant.
Dat dog needs some kind of roof to, don't you think?
Another excellent video; there's not too many blokes who would like to do a night out in that weather. Some great ideas in there, Lilly. Brilliant, thank you for sharing. Baz
I love it when it is snowing and you are out camping with your dog and a bow
You guys don't have hotels?
no only buildings like you saw in this video :D
U know nothing Jon Snow!
I love how sarcastic you get.
> The hotels got lost in the forest.

Great camp, very well laid out , very nice that you took your favorite critter with you, i can't camp without my terrier , he always goes .. Very well done on your video, as always i enjoy your filming of your bushcrafting ...
IS YOUR DOG DOING THE FILMING.
Thank you for your video. We need far more WOMEN posting videos. We cannot carry as much, so we need more information.
+UncleFexxer agree with that but have to add, until recently the ultra light gear wasn't available and us older guys and the ladies, we had to use what w's available, which means the heavy gear, and as we are used to it and have it e still use it, though for me am sow replaying with the light gear so long as it has longevity and does what its spose to do, am all for it 😉
The squirrel that finds all them nuts is going to freak the fuck out
I absolutely love your videos! I love winter bushcraft camping. My friends and family think I am crazy but they don't know what they are missing...keep the vids coming!!!
Such a good dog. He had a great personality.
I want my future wife to be like this women
I want to be as good at building like her
Yeah
i want my future wife to BE this person...
I like the video, but you need to keep you dog warm and dry?!
Good job though, keep it up
If Dax wanted he would have jumped on top of her and squeezed in on the bed under the lean-to.
So far I've watched 2 vids (this is going to make 3) about your shelter and may I say your shelter is badass!!!
Such a lovely way to thank Mother Nature.
We're using your videos in preparation for a six month stay in the woods. We plan on using game and to forage to supplement our food supply.
My better half really enjoys watching your videos and it was her idea after watching your series on building your bug out shelter.
Great video; loved that you thanked Mother Nature. Keep up the great bush-crafting!
Enjoyed watching your relaxing night out. I think my blood pressure and heartbeat dropped just from watching.
I like how you left the offering at the end. Very nice.
Wow, you are living the dream =) nothing better in life than a warm camp fire and nature . thanks for sharing.
Well done and great series; this girl know her stuff. Half the guys I camp with would have a hard time keeping up. Keep them coming Lilly. Cheers.
you are awesome. leaving the nuts was just the perfect ending. you have an amazing set up!!
Love the snow, would love to get over to Austria for hiking and camping. Greetings from Ireland. The videos have been great, good bush skills.
I absolutely love your site, Lilly. Thank you.
I have found leather gloves like the Patrolman types sold by Hatch work well moving and holding tins which have been heated by an open fire :)
Nice shelter :)
Awesome. You make me want to leave my messy city and go camp. Weather is always better in nature than in the city.
I love how peaceful your videos are I need peace in my life
Through your videos , you make friendship between us and the nature , you are making a good and important work , God bless you .
MY KIND OF GIRL! She knows what she is doing! Gets out there and does it with no BS! I would bug out any day with you Lilly! Good stuff!
