I gotta say your finger is well on the pulse of the warhammer RUclipsrs community, you're always an early commenter with positive things to say. It doesn't go unnoticed, good man.
Fifteen minutes into watching this my 3 year old declared, "not this, I want paw patrol!" which was the moment I realised we were actually watching it together and he'd been absolutely glued to it since the start. That's the first time he's ever watched something of mine for more than thirty seconds without demanding a cartoon. I think the close up shots of applying glue, sand a paint really appealed to him. 😉
I saved this set from my son's Playmobil collection. In fact I saved all the Romans and gladiators with the coliseum! This video just showed up in my feed! I did a chariot racing track using wedding cake columns and used a stone finish spray paint. Now I have more techniques to try. Thanks for the tutorial! I do want to make mine a bit more portable though.
This was such a great project to watch coming along. Love the final build and the way it looks. As Maximus himself would have said, Are you not entertained??
Brilliant. Lovely piece of work. I would suggest a dremel with cutting discs for that plastic. Mask and glasses essential. Some bits might end up looking a bit melted if dremel is on high speed. Than be cut off or left. After all I’m sure some fireballs can melt stone! Again, brilliant work.
It's great to see that Rust-Oleum Limestone spray in action. Usually the more impressive builds I see people doing feature some exotic product as a key part of the main effect, but I've seen that entire line at my local hardware store.
this toy feels like it would make a perfect replica of the arena from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, if anyone ever wanted to make that into a diorama project or miniatures campaign
Damn Oli, this is such a fantastic board build! Such inspired decision to use the old playmobile set. I am definitely inspired to try something similar for a kill team board.
Nice video guys. We built our play Mobil arena up a couple of years ago now and ran some Warcry Arena of Blood games in it. It's perfect size for warcry. Definitely recommend getting one to people on the fence.

Awesome video Oliver! Love the transformation of the kids toy into some amazing tabletop terrain. Those static grass tufts turned out killer...another toy to add to that ever growing crafting wish list. 😜
MORE TOYS. I've had that applicator for almost a year, and never used it..feels good to have finally tried it. Was pretty pleased with the results. Onwards and upwards!
I would love to see more of these, you turning toys into terrain. Maybe you could film yourself going to a toy store, pick a few items, and then try and make something out of them?
I saw someone running a gladiator game on one of these at Historicon, and it looked fantastic. So good that I got one, and never figured out what to do with it. Thanks for the inspiration to get back to that project!
It's very good. I did see Alan on Red rose Wargaming do this a year ago. Red rose Wargaming is great, if only for Al's fantastic Yorkshire accent and enthusiasm!
This looks great! I would definitely suggest adding paint to your mod podge if only for the reason you wanted to paint over it before hitting it with a spray can: The mod podge seals it for painting. But if you miss a spot, the paint propellant can and likely will melt it as you said. The black paint in the mod podge often still comes out looking kind of gray and doesn't really cover the foam. That's fine though, you can see if it has covered (and sealed) the foam so you can spray it safely.
"This plastic is solid, it will not break" as a german who had a lot of Playmobil in its youth all i can say it: yes... and no. Perfectly fine for normal play in House, but when you play with it excessively outside, it can break quite fast. :D
It came out looking awesome! But I do have a recommendation for your sanity if you ever want to pinwash so much at once again. You can spray the thinner oil wash with your airbrush then use a big sponge soaked in mineral spirits to wipe it away from the raised surfaces. It goes a lot faster though you will have less fine control.
No worries! At the end of the day it’s your channel and the best videos are the ones where you’re enjoying bf yourself and sharing your hobbies and process with everyone else :)

Looks great! One thing to mention, gold does not get verdigris, only copper and alloys of copper. I’ve found that you can get good results simulating verdigris by painting in a dark green, dabbing in a few patches of lighter green, then heavily dry brushing the entire thing in dark brown/bronze. The verdigris ends up less shiny than it can with inks.
This is amazing! The only change my non-crafty self would do would have been to fill the columns that were cut off/broken. Columns were carved from solid stone, in segments then stacked.
