It's good, trust me...
ParagonDS I hope so. I just looked up all the datamined shit 2day and maaan in hyped. Hope its as long/longer than the old hunters
My playtime on my first play through is roughly 10 hours and I've yet to beat it. SL70 NG++ (Under-leveled I know)
review copy?
ParagonDS Are the bosses majestic and difficult af?
ParagonDS. 10 Hours? Maaan, if this isn't an overexhaggeration, this DLC will be game changing
If you're loosening concepts to the degree of not calling Gravetender a boss, you might as well loose further to call Friede and Ariandel two bosses.
It was a big mob we had fought twice before, with like 3 new, boring moves. And an NPC with a dlc weapon. Not a boss compared to all other bosses in souls, like ever. Other than that one SOTFS boss.
What? Have you ever played DS or DS2?
The beginning boss of DS is literally copied (with very minor changes) two times. Apart from that,
Pinwheel, the Taurus demon, the gargoyles and the Moonlight butterfly also become normal enemies later in the game.
In DS2, there are the twin Dragonriders, which is an earlier bosses just copy+pasted two times. There's also prowling magnus and congrecation, which is just regular enemies copied. And I'm not even talking about blue smelter, the 3 NPC boss fight and the dual tigers yet. Those are almost completely copies.
But as soon as DS3 has one boss that appears earlier in the level, everyone loses their shit. And you don't even kill the wolf beforehand. Apart from that, it gains many new moves in the boss battle that it didn't have before.
Bullshit. If you say gravetender doesn't count as a boss, the boss count for both DS and DS2 should strongly decrease for both too.
As much as I hate to say it, Matthijs is right. There have been absolute abominations as bosses in the series.
I've written two very lengthy explanations refuting everything you've said. Two times. I've realized there is a simpler way to explain. Criticism of that boss fight, is reflective of the opinion of the DLC itself. Ashes was short, not particularly interesting, didn't add much to the lore, and only had one real boss. If the dlc had three bosses? Another area? maybe a few more enemy types? People would have overlooked it. What did we get? Followers, Bugs, Wolves and a Generic viking. Oh, and trees. The DLC lacked variety to the core, and thus some of the things that were overlooked when quality content was given, are no longer being overlooked.
But a boss is still a boss. Even if it sucks ass.
*Spoilers mentioning leaks*
I agree Mitch. I think this DLC is the big Pay Off. Did you see who the final boss is supposed to be? The trailer that came out today really excited me. That short shot of a cutscene of the knight and the player in the ashen wasteland looked so amazing, epic, and it just felt so cinematic and feels like the final boss of the DLC will end it off on a really amazing note. I'm excited. And holy shit so many NPC's.
LoganSoulsBorne4 that scene has to be the ending it looks soooooooooo COOL!!!!
Lots of NPCs? Like people to talk to and interact with? No details, but how many would you say there are that you know of?
quite a few npcs with a lot of dialogue. Hell, even the hag has a ton of dialogue and something happens if you kill her that I REALLY LIKE
There is an area and a bunch of items that are not yet avaiable, and that area holds at least 1 boss.
And we get the Dragonslayer armour bosses set and some Ds2 fashion souls
Tho, the first dlc was short yes... but it was a really good one.
I agree
Sekai on only good thing was Friede boss fight and Corvian Settlement's level design.
Sekai on True
Yes guys... sorry. When I say this, im talking about the level design, the character design and the story too was pretty awesome for me.
To make it justice for having only 2 bosses. All of the DS2 DLCs had 2 good bosses and a reskin boss in a trash area. Blue Smelter Demon, the two big cats and the Gank Squad are bad bosses inside horrible areas.
I still haven't watched a trailer learnt my lesson last time but still can't wait to play
0:24 - 0:30 I'm not sure that's how it works. It was a weak boss to be sure, but a boss none the less.
Nah, this "boss" makes no sense lore wise and he was just there to drop that item for the arena. This could have been aswell just a miniboss. This one doesnt count. Ashes of Ariandel had infact only one real bossfight.
How does it not make sense lore wise?
You could argue about the wolf but the champions gravetender just was randomly placed in the painted world for that arena access item. There are zero connections anywhere and he isnt mentioned in any dialogue, description or anything. It was just a random NPC for us to kill.
Yeah, he's definitely random and with zero connections. But I wouldn't say that that means he doesn't make sense lore wise, imo. The Painted World is already full of random things we've never heard of before and he is certainly a less defined one of them, and the description of the arena ashes has interesting implications as to what might have been a common culture in ages past.
He's weird and insignificant and doesn't amount to much, but I would say that he fits in. He makes some sense lore wise.
All I'm saying is that he IS a boss and he DOES count even if you don't like him. In fact, I'd say it's kind of neat that the wolf appears out in the field first and then appears again if you take the path past all the millwood knights. Also, the damage done to him out there carries over to the fight itself so you can get a head start. Not exactly the Pursuer, but the foreshadowing is kind of cool. I wouldn't mind seeing another boss fight that was spread out across your travels again (only done better of course).
Yup it is gonna be good... they've already included Ornstein's Plume... as a patch. Praise the plume.
Hey the champion wolf had some awesome music and nice doggy animations. Seriously when i open the the door my dog does the exact same sideways around the corner jump as the greatwolf! -but yeah i wish it had been a more focused encounter with that wolf though, there was a lot of potential with its dash attack mechanics and general maneuverability, but the whole fight was just a bit too 'bity.'
So much respect for this Mitch. And no spoilers either. Simple reassurance of the fact that ahead, awaits "quality".
"Adventure Ahead!" Cant freaking wait
i've been avoiding all spoilers of this dlc... this video is relieving, thanks
Thank you I'll so much for this. I'm trying my hardest to keep an open mind about this DLC because I don't want to be disappointed by over-hyping myself. I really like that you didn't mention spoilers only your opinion. from what it sounds like, this final chapter to my favorite series may actually be everything I could wish for it to be and now I'm more hyped then I have been for any game ever!
Mitch L be careful you don't overdose on that maryjuanna
over marawanned
I am now a meme man
Just because you don't like a boss, doesn't mean its not there. I didn't like the gank squad they call a boss fight in The Sunken City, but thats still a boss. I personally haven't played Ashes of Ariandel, but everyone I know who's played it loved it.
I hope your right Mitch, my man.
Looking forward to the Demon Lore video to wrap up your series on them as well. Those videos are what drew me to your channel to begin with. Maybe I could get you some cool info and get another shout out like before, lol.
I stand by the idea that AOA would've been better if Ariandel and Friede were separate boss encounters. Because I don't like multiple phases with multiple health bars, especially when those bars get longer for whatever reason, but aside that, MOSTLY because Ariandel's model is severely WASTED as a filler enemy for phase 2. I think his design is fantastic and they could've done so much with him. Let him get free from the chair and sprout his fluffy corvian wings or something like that. I have a soft spot for that Scottish Birb Dad :)
As for TRC, I'm SUPER EXCITED about the 1st boss that was revealed a while ago, but aside from that I'm trying not to spoil myself too much content. I still want that Catarina/Astora DLC tho... :(
MalakiaLaGatta Also apparently the first boss is one of the easier bosses 😏
thank you for a spoiler free video!!
I really excited for the Ringed Knight Armor, the armor for the Dragonslayer Armour, and the Ringed Knight Weapons.
Super hyped for the DLC
I appreciate this video it doesn't spoil anything and gives relevant information.
Just 3 more days, just 3 more days, just 3 more days
Lore&Lore tomorrow :o
Spoiler free so far... it has been hard
11 hour and 31 minutes left!!!
shout out to the two frames of Jolie Olie hitting a bong
I'm just happy that they are finally giving the furtive pygmy proper back story. The most important character.
TheManlyman21 more than one pygmy
There is a litteral city of pygmies.
Calling it now. Gwyn gave Gwynevere to the demons in return for their help guarding the kiln (think about where the boss demons are placed with respect to the two bells), and his other daughter to the pygmy king in return for the pygmies isolating themselves in a remote city.
Humans sided with dragons. Or, humans ARE dragons.
anyone else not surprised with this video lol I had a feeling u just wanted to be the edgy souls RUclipsr saying no I don't want londor
It really sucks to be this hyped for something. The final days leading up to it feel like an eternity.
What if there is an extended storyline for ashes of ariandel after the ringed city??
It should be noted that one of the future games From is working on is a new Armored Core.
I'll hop onto your Patreon once I get myself steady again, just got done being homeless for 2 weeks lmao so finances need to be re-stabilized
I promised myself I wouldn't get too hyped up about the new DLC, but Gwyndammit the hype is fucking real! 3 more days... I'm going in blind as a bat and I couldn't be happier.
Also, we got that Ornstein plume!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lone wolve has a video with a hacker showcasing some of the weapons and armour. Just from that alone I will buy it.
Where do you get the Slave Knight Armor?
"Dare I say... soulful"
I snickered
Don't smoke too much of that devils lettuce
LUCIFERS CABBAGE!
Autism is Uncontrollable Damn those satanic vegetables.
Praise dank, and praise kek.
It's actually quite funny... satanic panic... *spoon clank*
That's about all.
Thats about all, Peace out.
What did you think about it before exactly? I've been hyped about it since day one, the new patch just makes it all the better!
I already pretty much assumed From was gonna bring their A game for this one to wrap things up. I almost think they held off on arena maps and possibly an area just to make AoA look worse and Ringed City better.
aye the dlc won't load for for me I go to the drag heap bonfire at the kiln of the first flame..I click it and it gets stuck in loading screen..what do I do.
Do you have Ashes of Ariandel? There's a bonfire to get to the second DLC there as well.
I think it would have been better if they had just packed both dlc together like they did with the old hunters. However after watching a few vids on people who got it early I'm pretty sure the ringed city is going to be great.
What's so bad about the Gravetender's Wolf boss?
I get that Anor Londo was the city of the gods and such but what if it wasn't the first great city. Maybe the Ringed Coty could have been.
SPOILERS
so is that Aldia or Kaathe talking who talks about letting the feast begin?
Also Lapp seems like a trusty old friend.
SPOILER
Your comment makes more sense than you'd might think, since it's possible that Lapp is Trusty Patches, and not Unbreakable Patches.
I doubt we'll ever get an explicit connection between the Soulsborne IPs, but with DS III being so unabashedly meta that many players have written it off as shitty fanservice (to be fair, Irithyll Dungeon and the Yhorm boss fight were a pretty pointless wink-wink-nudge-nudge to Demon's Souls, but Irithyll city and the Aldrich arc in general were actually a VERY tight and elaborate thematic connection to Bloodborne, aside from a few overly tryhard item descriptions), fully embracing its BioShock Infinite-esque multiverse schtick, I wouldn't even be surprised if FROM decided to add more allusions and references. After all, the endgame will be to find the Dark Soul and bring it to the painter girl in Ariandel, so she can paint a new world. What this world is going to look like, remains to be seen.
I always seem to have opinions that are similar to yours. If you're hyped I think its pretty safe for me to get hyped too!
demon prince(s) lore analysis when?
What's worse, your ability to rip cones or the DLC?
HuffyBoyRadio definitely my ability
well, hyaven't been keeping u with dlc leaks so i couldn't get spoiled lol sucks that i won't be able to play when it's released tho :c am broke so i'll probably have to wait until april the 7th to get it ;-; fuuuu
SPOILERS!
The Ringed City is a really good "meaningful" ending to an extent with great visuals and thought behind everything. And while the bosses are difficult (until you figure out the roll timings), and enemies themselves difficult (All invaders can one shot including Alva with his three hit weapon art, previous boss Dragonslayer Armor being a regular mini boss enemy, Shira with her op weapons, and many brutal combos from normal enemies). The dlc in terms of being sufficent as an ending is very much debatable. We all know they left an open door for DS4. But I think the majority wanted an actual closure ending with a cutscene due to them calling it the ending. (I'm aware they said end to the age of fire and not just "the end", but still.) While it's very likely "The Age of Dark" (DS4 and beyond) could occure in the painting due to the dialogue running parallel with the open door theory. It still looks more like a lacking ending in the theatrical department, and more of a set up story for the open door theory while being the "finish" for Miyazaki. I mean, I think we all understood the meaningful factor of it all. Especially the Gael fight. But it never felt like an ending.
And speaking of difficult, try running through the 30+ ruin archers. Lmao
"I don't like something therefore it doesn't exist."
Okay....
So is ashes of ariandel bad? I still haven't bought it and idk whether I should
The problem with Ashes of Ariandel is that it is mediocre in terms of From Software DLC standards. It's way too short and there is an overall lack of content. While The Painted World of Ariandel does have some interesting areas, it didn't really feel that fresh overall. Also, it only has 2 bosses. One of them is arguably one of the best fights in the series, while the second is a pantless NPC who is aided by a giant wolf with a moveset similar to the Alva the King's Pet from the Dark Souls II Ivory Crown DLC. Oh, and you already fought the wolf 1-2 times before the boss fight itself, so any sort of novelty they were going for it lost. Overall, it's not a bad DLC, just a little disappointing compared to previous Soulsborne DLC. I'd give it a 6/10.
So do you think it's worth the price for someone with no experience with ds2 dlcs and only old hunters?
+Jack Luxon It certainly isn't as good as the old hunters. If you don't have DS3 yet, I'd say wait for the Fire Fades Edition, and buy it that way, otherwise skip it unless you want it badly.
Personally, I'd say the DLC was good, but not $20 good.
Maybe even larger than the old hunters you say? Holy shit now I am super hyped! That means there must be atleast 5 bosses and some big areas!
RedEye There are only three bosses (though there might be a fourth, no one has finished the DLC yet). But, apparently all three are very cool and all amazing fights.
And apparently there are huge areas, so hype for that
3 bosses is kind of disappointing tbh... I was expecting a minimun of 4 so I hope there is another boss. But I doubt it will be longer or as long as the old hunters with only 3 bosses. Old hunters had 3 brilliant bosses (Maria, Ludwig, Kos) 1 good but super hard boss (Laurence) and one not so good boss (Living Failures) and of course huge areas. Thats super hard to top right there. It can only be done if this potential 4th boss exists and will be better than anything we ever had.
RedEye To be fair though, The Old Hunters was two DLC put together, whereas the Ringed City is just one. It's already delivering a shit ton of awesome stuff (unfortunately I've been spoiled, so trust me) and apparently a fourth boss has been found.
Febuary, I give you that, completely forgott that Old Hunters was actually two DLCs. :)
RedEye yeah so put ringed city together with ashes and then compare. The 2 together will be better than old hunters. And there is 4 bosses confirmed. Shirakko confirmed on Reddit. He has already beaten it. (Reviewcopy) and he can't tell us what the 4th boss is yet, BUT we know the other 3. I can tell you what they are if you want.
thank god, some gud news
cant wait until they buff spells
I gotta get back to DS3
I'm not sure why, but i guess the Game is somehow (in a weird way) a "Prequel" to Demons Souls or others. And maybe the Dragons are responsible for he First Flame
how do i become a patreon?
Just follow the link in the description.
All Ringed City DLC Weapons ruclips.net/video/f0YS9FJnuNM/видео.html
i mean it's from softs last dlc for the souls series. it has to be good
aww you didn't link the reddit post..? @2:45
Should be there now :)
Welp, there are +3 rings now
I found +3 rings while playing the 2nd DLC on new game +1
People have already use cheat engine to get all the weapons and armor, it's good
Lost my shit when you showed jolli Ollie 😂😂😂
Just completed the Ringed City... It was great fun with nice bosses but you don't even realize that you completed it because of how anticlimatic the last boss is. It's pretty much a random dude with a reference to Ariandel and that's it. No answered questions like they said, no lore important bosses, except the dragon, some areas that were shown in the trailer as being important are not even accesible. All around it is fun but I thought it would be much more. i'd give it a 7/10. Could be much better, being the last DLC.
I feel differently about the final boss but I'll have a video up soon.
Yeah to all their own opinion xd I would change it to 8/10 though cuz I realized that there are some important story components actually explained. Looking forward to it, good job with the vids btw.

SPOILER:

Max Playaccount Omg. That scared the shit out of me! XD
the likes 666
So AoA had one boss because you didn't like one of them? Lol nice mindset.
Did you just say they weren't bosses because you didn't like them? That doesn't mean they aren't bosses, if that was the case then if I kill someone it isn't murder, because I don't like it being called murder. That's the logic your applying.
I really don't get the "lack of bosses" complaint. I rather like being able to explore a large area without constantly bumping into bosses who break the pace and shatter the believability of the world. If Fromsoft made a Souls-like game with an open-ended, interconnected world, and no boss fights except for maybe one high-quality final fight at the end, then I'd be so happy. The Ashes DLC is like a small taste of that, but it's too short and repetitive imo.
John Bailey that would be absolute shit lol
Why? Bosses don't even make up 10% of Dark Souls' playtime. Besides, it's been done before, by Fromsoft themselves; it's called King's Field 4, and it's fantastic.
"I've stricken Gravetender's champion and Greatwolf from the record because I don't like it" Ha sorry what? It's cool to not like something, I get it. If you don't like something then you don't like something but you can't say "Yeah dude that's not a boss because I don't like it" I hate 90% of the bosses in Dark Souls 2, they are cheap ass gank bosses that are there for the sake of being gank bosses so I guess Dark souls 2 had next to no bosses right? I mean shit I didn't like them so that means I can say they're not bosses....right?
Ayy first boiii
Have an estus cookie
did i hear this right? i dont like the champions gravetender therefore its not a boss. okay sure budy.
That thumbnail is a hardcore spoiler man :(
DonutSwordsman ikr
It's just a statue from the trailer.
iWillWakeYouUp Don't you realise this statue is Gwyn giving a hollow protection? It is probably The NAMELESS king.
lol this dude acting like Friede isn't one of the greatest DS bosses of all time
um so you discount the gravetender and the wolf as a boss because you don't like it?? that's like saying you don't think spaghetti is food because it taste bads to you
*food
They're not bosses, I can 3-4 shot both of them at level 120 on ng+2
I probably should've gone into more detail on that. An normal NPC and a wolf we already fought on the snowfields seemed really lazy to me and barely a fight.
I understand the point you're trying to put forward but that has got to be one of the worse analogy I've ever seen in my life so far.
Mitch L and the Gravetender wasn't even doing proper fashion souls!
Gotta be honest...you not counting the grave tender as a boss because you didn't like it... how on earth it that valid. like at all. i didn't like Capra demon guess its not a boss now. What an astoundingly stupid premise.
you shit on vatty my friend 🤓
I don't like it, I like it, I don't like it, I like it, I don't like it, I like it, I don't like it, I like it, I don't like it, I like it....I don't like it.....I...
AOA was alright. It was definitely better than the Crown DLCs for DS2.
nomercy8989 nah
nomercy8989 not at all lol
hell no
Crown DLCs are like everything great about Dark Souls in a nutshell
Not sure if you are referring to my comment or xxxxxDalexxxxxx
Meh, no matter how good the last is DLC that wont fix the soulless main game.
ICHANGEDMYNAMEBECAUSETHEOTHERONEIHADWASSTUPID
"Soulless"? I dunno man. I loved Dark Souls III's base game, despite its flaws
You sure about that? I thought DS3's PvE was better than DS1 and DS2 combined.
supermariozelda Completely agree. I personally enjoy DSIII's PVP over DSII, as I just find the weapons better. Though I understand all the complaints for PvP
I honestly liked DS1's PVE better than 3 despite its second half not being too great. I felt like 3's areas were really lacking in atmosphere; I wasn't scared at all during my playthrough of it. Overall though, I love all the Souls games equally :)
Chris Chauffeur Of course you won't get "scared" with DS3. You are already familiar with the series so you know how many things will go.
