The PS5 Has A Battery Problem?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 29 авг 2024
- Over the last few weeks there has been a lot of talk around Sony and an issue dubbed CBOMB where the battery inside the console will run out of power causing the PlayStation system to not play physical games anymore. This was mostly for the PS4, but people were also wondering about the PS5 so I figured we could take a look at it today and see if it has the same issue.

As a physical media lover, this makes me very happy, now I no longer have to worry about my physical PS4/PS5 games dying out due to the system.
I like physical media too but in general we are at a disadvantage because most new game have patches and expansions so the physical media for new games is pretty much not worth cause if the servers went down we'd be SOL. I do hope that sony takes after microsoft when it comes to backwards compatibility and just makes all the games available in the future so when we get nostalgia of old games we can boot it up on whatever system we have currently
@@MagicBrownMan that’s why you jus get the “complete” or “goty” version. I know not every game has one of these but a lot now do especially most of the bigger titles etc.
@@MagicBrownMan true but I wait for secretly reprint like Spyro (no updates) or goty.
Most games “Single player” are fine without patches.
Like Arkham city ps4 it maybe crash but it’s very very low
@@herbalterrorist420 Those goty editions still feature download codes for the extra content it comes with, typically. I agree with you for the most part, though.
@@Elysiabikha - I only saw one or two RUclips videos about Spyro Ignite remade games being on the disc instead of having to download.
Why would the company be secretive about that? Seems silly! Is all of the Updates/Patch/DLC on disc without downloading anything whatsoever??
Well as a person who prefers physical I'm happy with this. Now if only I could get a PS5 near me
My advice is follow the ps5 restock twitter accounts, and turn notis on. Race to buy it online thats how i got mine

@@ImAbran same lol also restocks are usually between 6-7 AM here in the west coast
Very relieving that the PS5 does not kill disc playback.
Definitely. It’s at least better than no games at all working on it. Makes me feel a bit better. Even if the PS4 won’t be able to play physics games, we can still play physical PS4 games on PS5. It’s still an issue that I hope Sony will fix, but at least we have some option.
Tell this to people who bought the digital edition

@@BensyBens They knew the risks. They said No to ownership a long time ago.
Sony needs to rethink a number of things. The addition of an off-line no trophy basic profile for legacy play should be in ps3 ps4 and ps5. And they absolutely can patch it in.
Well lets hope they patch it in the future before the servers will shutdown so people can play their digital purchased games forever as long as the system last.
Of course, they can - they just do not want to!
@@lucasterable Which is an Anti-consumer move. Remove your game library you paid money for. What's next? a subscription to use your console?

Systems should have an easy battery switch if it's a system killer. Period thank you for doing this for the community.
The wii is a perfect example of this, its super easy to change the battery.
HA! If it's a system killer, the company wants you to buy a new system. NOT give you the ability to fix your own system.

its not a system killer lol
PS5 seems fine with offline/physical games so it's a PS4 issue
Next Video: Will the PS6 have a C-Bomb problem?
@Johnny Silverhand Exactly what I am thinking. Sony wont allow any of this to happen anyway. There is zero point in making videos about something that will never happen.
@Johnny Silverhand it’s the best way of simulating what it would be like when the servers go out and the battery dies
its called fear mongering... he's made so many videos on it . i'm bordering on unsubscribing... sigh
@Johnny Silverhand Well *_you_* obviously don't work in IT or are any kind of electronics engineer. Sheesh, this thread is so uninformed.
@Johnny Silverhand “This is all fake” - You’re absolutely right. RUclipsrs should wait 10~20 years for the batteries to naturally die, then travel back in time before they can actually tell us what happens.
... Instead of, you know, shortcut the process to show us functionally the same result.
One more test that should be done to fully verify this - after removing the battery and in an offline state, insert a physical disc that has *not* been played on that system before, install, and run.
@@subtegral will it play a physical copy of Hollow Knight

Have fun with your half finished and half baked games. Everyone knows at this point that the game you get at release (which would be the physical copy) is somewhere b/w 50-70% complete. The fact that physical games are still playable solves very little.
Worth to note that someone else on Twitter tried this out and whether games work after C-bomb or not depends on the game. As you can see in this video some games boot up, while others will straight up refuse to install.
You should have also tried a fresh install of a ps5 game and a PS4 game. I'm definitely wondering if the latter would need to check/download a compatibility profile of some sort.
Excellent point 👍
If the system is offline, it will just install from the disc with no checks.

I have come across several posts on the internet dating 2015 and 2016 where people didn’t have internet connection available but were still able to play games offline after buying a new ps4. People always say "This isn't really a issue because it will be forever before PSN shuts down." The battery on my PS4pro died already (I wasn't aware at the time) and we had a big storm hit and we lost internet. (We don't have cable TV) so without internet we had nothing to watch, no Netflix, Hulu, etc just our phones that would use alot of data. So I got on my PS4 and every game had that little lock symbol on it. So it's not just an issue when PSN dies. People lose internet every day for various reasons. It's an issue that effects people today.

The clock DRM problem is about titles with expiration dates. The trophies have to register unlock time and that could be the source for the CBOMB issue on discs and digital things without expiration dates.

Xbox consoles doesn't have a CMOS Battery. And you need a internet connection to set it up the first time or you cannot use it. Offline accounts do not exist like the X360. safe to say that a good amount of people will also be using their PS5 to play PS4 games as well, but the issue is that i have more than 2tb worth of games and had to intall a 3.5 inch hard drive with a nyko databank on my PS4. i kinda wish that sony would realize that game sizes are getting pretty enormous and anything less than 1tb is not gonna cut it for most people who are gonna get more games than what the current PS5 can contain
Sony can do a lot of things but choose not to do them, which is very upsetting. A lot of their choices end up being anti-consumer quite often.
Every thing is "anti-consumer" if it doesn't fit your personal needs/desires
Well these so called problem is not really a problem. Change battery, connect to internet and set time. Then you are good to go for another 15-20 years before changing next battery.
Still bizarre that they are so aggressive with digital games, you'd think they could implement an "offline mode" like Steam.
Regardless, sails will be hoisted when these services eventually shut down.
So this really isn’t as big an issue as everyone was making out then, perfecto 👌🏻
Well it is for the ps4. Luckily sony didn’t screw gamers again on the ps5
It's a big issue if you like to play your games again & again many years from now.
Going from a PS5 digital with a library of games to an Astro Bot machine seems like a big issue to me. Hopefully they'll find a way to secure your digital purchases that doens't involve the servers being up.
@@subtegral fuck that the ease of digital and no clutter is nice. My steam library has been going strong for 17 years now. Can still play every game i own no issues
Two questions: 1. Did you get Horizon from PS Plus or you bought it, and 2. Did you try putting in uninstalled physical games?
I’m happy that I won’t ever have to worry about not being able to play my PS4 games since I own a PS5, sadly I know not everyone can say the same though with how hard it is to get a PS5 lmao
You didn't try deleting the physical game's data and trying to reinstall them from scratch, iirc there are reports that shows the installation process getting stuck at like 97% and not finishing, but maybe that can be fixed somehow I don't know.
