- The Grace family moves from Brooklyn, New York, to their ancestral home in Henson, Michigan, the Spiderwick Estate. Helen makes the move with her 15-year-old fraternal twin boys, Jared and Simon, and her older daughter, Mallory. Shortly after moving to the Spiderwick Estate Jared discovers a boggart and realizes that magical creatures are real! The only one to believe him is his great-aunt Lucinda who implores Jared to find the pages of her father’s field guide to magical creatures and protect them from the murderous Ogre, Mulgarath.

The original actor for these characters was 16 when the movie came out. This filmed almost two years ago so they were 14 during filming and are 16 upon its release just like the original actor.

why’s every movie about a “fresh start”
The books came out in 2003-2004. The family quite literally has to move because of Jared’s behavior and it’s a big plot point in the books. He keeps messing up and getting in trouble. Everyone thinks he’s a bad kid and then this stuff starts happening and everyone blames him at first. It’s not something new. Most kids books have to do with a big change.

The CGI looked great! Everything about this series looked well put together except the main characters. They have the acting abilities of an after school special on Nickelodeon!
