Because they thought it was going to be a live action movie or in the style of Spider-Verse.
That is a positive that came to my mind. At least this movie is actually focusing on the Transformers characters instead of focusing on the human characters. It what nailed the cartoon series back then. I will admit....I was kinda hoping for a more darker tone. This tone was a mix of disappointment and yet....intriguing. I hope it will be as fun as I hope. But as well as dark as it was known for their ongoing civil war.

This looks fun. I have no problem whatsoever with this version of an origin story for Prime and Megatron and I'm 53 and have been a fan of Transformers and GI Joe since being a teenager in the 80's.
i'm 46 and same been withthem since 1984 when my first transformer my mum bought me was bluestreak... but i feel way too old for this 'type' of humour... i dont mind comedy but this 'type' of comedy is just so cringe and annoying to me... i still have hope though and am willing o give it a watch.. before i get any hate let me clarify its a 'me' thing... i know gen z teens and alpha kids where this type of humour is the norm now for them... i even think if i was still in my 20s it wouldnt bother me so much

It features someone all right. But that doesn't seem like Megatron to me.
I think people are forgetting, even if you want to give this movie a chance, that these characters end up a certain way and it's essential to their characterization.
It's going to be very hard to imagine incredulous silly Megatron, particularly a Megatron that seems to want to stay in the mines and mind his own business which is antithetical to his entire character, to eventually become a genocidal warmonger.
Going from this version of prime and Megatron to the ones we know they become themes like a giant leap too far, IMO.

This movie intrigues me. There aren't a lot of Transformers stories that depict what Cybertron was like before the war. There have been some stories that show Optimus Prime and Megatron used to be friends before their differing ideologies divided them. It would be interesting to see how their friendship dissolved in this movie, or at least how it started to.
Yeah you have to read comics to see those stories
A few changes to make this origin story pretty unique, but I really do hope the following trailers spoil a little bit of their philosophies clashing with each other.

Edit: Guys, relax. People saying that this is a kids movie, you have to remember this movie is coming from a franchise about toy robots that turn into vehicle, with the intended target audience being KIDS. That alone is kinda goofy.
Older fans (such as myself) that grew up to being adults grew up with the series being more serious like Bayfilms, IDW, Cybertron Games, Prime, etc.
Remember this franchise has had comedic moments in a serious story. It gets funny and serious when the story NEEDS it to be. And besides, it's just a trailer. Wait to know more.

Ok, tell me all the origins of the multiple continuities G1, alligned, IDW comics, bayverse and the rest. While pointing out differences and how this incarnation is taking notes of all of them.
I mean, I’ve known about Orion Pax and D-16 from “comic book knowledge osmosis.” So, you can be an old or new fan, and still only know “tip of the iceberg” knowledge.
(Then again, I used to read a LOT OF Justice League [and, by extent, certain members] DC comics. So, not a stranger to what many would consider “deeper lore”..)
I do hope Peter Cullen does narrate sometime in this movie because since it’s an origin story

Also, just because D-16 and Orion Pax are not a Gladiator or a Librarian in this film doesn't mean they never will, and besides that's just the Aligned continuity lore. Transformers have lived for millions of years, I'm pretty sure they weren't always one profession.
megatron was a miner / gladiator in many other continuities.
I'm getting tired of the same backstory in every modern continuity anyway.
Prior to that orion was also depicted as a cop in the dream wave comics

I watched Transformers as a kid, and I don't think anybody over the age of 19 should complain about this. I think it looks fine, but more importantly, it's for a new generation. Let them have their movie.

Cyberverse Optimus isn't voiced by Peter Cullen. So is Animated, the WFC trilogy, Rescue Bots Academy too.
@@StarGazer6 Peter Cullen did do Optimus in Rescue Bots though since it's tied in with TFP. I'm pretty sure he did RB Academy although I never did see Academy so I may be wrong.

If this fails, I don't want that producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to say, "See, I told you it needs to have more humans and archaeology!" Even if it fails, please keep making Transformers films about Transformers. Adapt the Cybertron games next and you'll win over new and old fans alike. Whoever first came up with the transformers' origin story is truly a poet.

I have always been a Transformers fan since I can remember. I wasn't allowed to watch the Bayverse movies when I was younger, but I was able to find the original G1 cartoon on RUclips.
I loved it so much, then I got opd enough to watch Bayverse and I loved the first one the most. Bumblebee was fine but I haven't watched Beastformers yet.
Despite this one's more happy approach to Transformers, I am very excited to see what this movie has in store.
