I’m keeping an cautiously optimistic open mind with this film, cause we haven't had too many original science fiction Disney films wether it's Live-Action or animated, considering that outside of _Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy_ and now _Avatar_ most of the science fiction films from Disney and to a degree Pixar based on original IP or adaptations of Science Fiction books (e.g. _Black Hole, Tomorrowland, Treasure Planet, John Carter, A Wrinkle In Time, Lightyear, Strange World_ etc.) just bomb at the box office with only _Lilo & Stitch_ (Walt Disney Animation Studios), _Tron: Legacy_ (which is debatable) and _Wall•E_ (Pixar) being Disney and also Pixar’s most successful Science Fiction films. Overall, the premise of _Elio_ is impressive it reminds me of the classic Science Fiction films like ET, Close Encounters, Lilo & Stitch and even The Amazing Three (Wonder 3) by Osamu Tezuka, so very excited on this film, but I’m being very cautious and skeptical Disney doesn’t mess up the marketing and release of this film like they did with _Treasure Planet_ and _Strange World_ cause with Pixar's _Lightyear_ and _Strange World_ bombing at the box office last year and if this film doesn’t do well at the box office (which I hope it doesn’t) it could possibly result in Disney and Pixar not doing anymore Science Fiction animated films moving forward.
John Carter wasn’t a Disney original. It’s based on a series of episodic magazine stories from the early, early 1900s and from the same author of Tarzan. Treasure Planet is also an adaption, but with a twist, so it half counts. Wrinkle in Time was based on an old novel too.
It has nothing to do with sci fi. It has EVERYTHING to do with them not having much creativity anymore or injecting things into the films that have no place in them, leading parents to walk away and not look back.
Finally! Something by Disney that has me fully invested! And a break from Pixar's "What if 'x' had feelings?"plotline. The visuals and animation are expected to be mind-blowing. To be honest, this could be comparable to Coco, and I hope that this new film brings back some of that good ol' Pixar glory back to the theaters.
Well apparently America Ferrera originally voiced Elio’s mom but she left due to scheduling conflicts so now the character is Elio’s aunt voiced by Zoe Saldaña.
Visually stunning, plot wise I'm sold. One of the best things about Pixar too is that genertally the story doesn't go where you think it will go, so anything could happen. Pretty excited for this one.
This is legit the most cliche story ever. Kid gets mistaken as important figure, keeps up the lie until it gets out of control, ends up telling the truth with everyone being disappointed in him, and then it ends with everyone forgiving him and telling him its ok.
@@jacobwood7156 fair enough. Though most of these movies are still quite entertaining! Plus the premise of being taken by aliens is unique/interesting enough for me to be invested in it.

This looks cute! The title character and that little alien look adorable and the animation is, of course, stunning. Also, I thought the eyepatch that Elio wears, shown in the concept art from last year, would be a "just because it looks cool" thing, since he is a young boy and a young boy would probably think that, and he was also wearing a cape, which definitely did look cool, but no, it seems like he will wear it from the beginning of the film and I think that that kind of normalisation will be very special to children like Elio in real life (and probably just people who wear eyepatches in general). @@birdsmoko i think it looks good, pretty much more than decent, even if spiderverse and puss in boots artstyle was amazing thanks to it 2D 3D mix, not everything has to be like it, and as a b ig fan of spiderverse i actually also enjoy movies that don't go for a 3D 2D mix, after all it's all just at the own team choice that runs the movie, they will know how to show their own movie :D
Wouldnt Baymax also count as science fiction?
Maybe It'll bomb at the box office but otherwise have a decent story? Kinda like Treasure Planet.
Hi I am zulfiqer. New On YT

This story seems to make more sense than the new trailer. A workaholic mom who is looking for aliens doesn’t know her son is abducted by aliens.
Well apparently America Ferrera originally voiced Elio’s mom but she left due to scheduling conflicts so now the character is Elio’s aunt voiced by Zoe Saldaña.
@@SerenityRidge1 What an odd change. I’m sure in the film it will make sense, but just have Zoe voice the mom, ha.
Visually stunning, plot wise I'm sold. One of the best things about Pixar too is that genertally the story doesn't go where you think it will go, so anything could happen. Pretty excited for this one.
Finally, an original story that doesn’t look cliched. I’m so hyped for this!
This is legit the most cliche story ever. Kid gets mistaken as important figure, keeps up the lie until it gets out of control, ends up telling the truth with everyone being disappointed in him, and then it ends with everyone forgiving him and telling him its ok.

Over a hundred likes???!!1
It might be the kind of eyepatch some kids wear to strengthen their eyes. Most kids hate wearing it, so it might be helpful in normalizing it.
@@jaypro6269wait eyepatches can *strengthen* eyes?
@pyrusmew5 Light sensitivity is a thing, so a patch helps to block out as much light as possible until the eye is "ready".

The family problem is intriguing and the alien visit plot looks fun and inviting. The alien designs are very eye-catching nice to look at.
This blows the Zootopia plagiarism out of the water.
Did you watch elemental or are just saying this based off the trailer because it definitely sounds like it. The trailer really did give the movie a bad image but I think the movie itself was great and the representation of immigrants isn’t common but was definitely welcomed as an immigrant myself.
