The original Joker was terrible. Everyone praised his performance? Insane/Crazy is literally the easiest acting to play! The storyline was slow and uneventful. The relationship with the girl seemed so weird, I couldn’t wait for the twist… the twist was… she’s not real! The TV series Lost did that and everyone was real mad! De Niro finally in a comic book movie… and he plays the most one dimensional caricature that literally anyone could have played. Best bit is when he stabs his bullies… let me ask you something. The weird guy from work doesn’t come in one day, what you doing? Definitely NOT going over to his house for the first time ever! And SOMEHOW they’ve added the worst actress in the world and a musical theme I guess cz it’s Gaga and it “fits”? I’m angry already at how people will be so off AGAIN!

Making some of it a musical is a stylistic choice to change the film from the first. Phoenix is an artsy actor he wouldn't have done this sequel unless it was different from part 1. With that said Joker the movie still did not need a sequel and adding Harley really isn't interesting enough to justify making it. With that said while I don't personally need musical numbers the trailer itself looks great acted and great visuals but I'm not 100 percent sold on this movie yet I need to see more. Obviously just like part 1 they aren't going by the comics at all but given these are else world movies they can get away with it. However Suicide Squad already did the more loving Joker Harley romance years before this movie.

It is an interesting shot. I'd imagine it was done by having a monitor set up where Phoenix could see himself in order to line it up, but its certainly an interesting choice. The angles not set up for Harley, it's set for the audience. With more context from the scene, it could be even more interesting. And the fact that its a fake smile that only exists in glass at first and then transfers to his real face AND it being Harley to have created that smile, its got a lot of layers to it, ironically with it being a layered shot. All that having been said, I'm pretty sure you're overreacting. They lined up a lipstick smudge on a pane of glass it's not the invention of the wheel.
Symbolism of Harley walking up the same stairs that the Joker dances down in the first film, 'i'm nobody, i haven't done anything with my life like you have'. This itched my brain in a way that i liked.
I've followed every little thing about this production. There have already been test screenings over the past couple months and the reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. People just aren't allowed to share many details because they signed NDAs.
The fact that they went with “PHOENIX” and “GAGA”, they were like no need for full names you know perfectly who they are… it made everything look more phenomenal.
I’m excited to see more of Lady Gaga in the film, she looked really good here in the trailer and I enjoyed her a lot on American Horror Story and I’m a fan of her music when I’m in the right mood
To be fair thats mostly Lawrence Sher's work. Phillips barely focuses on this aspect on any of his other films. He got a very good cinematographer and they both complemented each others work. But its not his credit entirely at all.

Speculation is that it will be a musical. I think it will just use music in a couple of very strategic instances to highlight that the Joke finds violence as joyous as music.
It reminds me of how the show LEGION portrayed the characters' madness throughout the seasons. Always so creative with dance numbers and wrestling matches. Highly recommend ! It's one of the best Marvel shows (only loses to Daredevil I'd say)

While you’re probably spot on, I think it’d be a thousand times better if they flip the script from the first one and it’s all in Harley’s head, and the entire movie is a look at obsession and abusive relationships.

This teaser makes you think the film is about Joker and Harley escaping the jail and going on insane adventures together. Instead the film is about the entire trial and Harley dumps him. I can’t believe they messed up this film.
Yes indeed 👍. This is one of the most disappointing and underwhelming sequels to ever be made in the history of cinema. Phoenix's acting is still legendary. But the story took the wrong direction 😞.

Exactly, i think when people heard the word musical they automatically thought the whole film would just be random singing intervals like it’s mamma mia or something. But the way I can imagine it being used in this film is more scenes of joker singing destructively and chaotically, not making any sense of himself but wanting some sort of limelight to get the attention he always craved. todd philips did so well with the first movie people just need to trust the process, evident in just this first trailer alone that his work is going to be amazing

DC is at their best when they’re making self contained character studies/dramas. I wish them good luck with the new cinematic universe but stuff like this is when they’re truly on another level
I don't think they have to be self-contained. But they have to be mature, adult, dark and serious. Nobody likes when DC superheroes are aimed at babies and kiddies. They've been trying to escape that image for 40 years. The movies like Shazam and Blue Beetle that slide back to that are just disasters for the brand.

There's a great example of this. It happened in England. Two Swedish girls ran into traffic on the motorway. They experienced their shared psychosis together at the same time. They were hit by lorries and still trying to get up and fight. Their were no drugs or alcohol in their system at the time. Watch the video, it's crazy.

Making some of it a musical is a stylistic choice to change the film from the first. Phoenix is an artsy actor he wouldn't have done this sequel unless it was different from part 1. With that said Joker the movie still did not need a sequel and adding Harley really isn't interesting enough to justify making it. With that said while I don't personally need musical numbers the trailer itself looks great acted and great visuals but I'm not 100 percent sold on this movie yet I need to see more. Obviously just like part 1 they aren't going by the comics at all but given these are else world movies they can get away with it. However Suicide Squad already did the more loving Joker Harley romance years before this movie.

It is an interesting shot. I'd imagine it was done by having a monitor set up where Phoenix could see himself in order to line it up, but its certainly an interesting choice. The angles not set up for Harley, it's set for the audience. With more context from the scene, it could be even more interesting. And the fact that its a fake smile that only exists in glass at first and then transfers to his real face AND it being Harley to have created that smile, its got a lot of layers to it, ironically with it being a layered shot. All that having been said, I'm pretty sure you're overreacting. They lined up a lipstick smudge on a pane of glass it's not the invention of the wheel.

One thing I love about how Todd Phillips directed these movies is how each shot can be it's own screensaver. Cinematography is top notch.
To be fair thats mostly Lawrence Sher's work. Phillips barely focuses on this aspect on any of his other films. He got a very good cinematographer and they both complemented each others work. But its not his credit entirely at all.

I wasn't sure about the musical aspect, but now i'm sold. Using music in contrast to their mundane reality to express their shared madness seems really interesting to me.
Agreed, looks like just from this trailer, the musical aspect makes it more special.
Speculation is that it will be a musical. I think it will just use music in a couple of very strategic instances to highlight that the Joke finds violence as joyous as music.
It reminds me of how the show LEGION portrayed the characters' madness throughout the seasons.
Always so creative with dance numbers and wrestling matches. Highly recommend ! It's one of the best Marvel shows (only loses to Daredevil I'd say)

Exactly, i think when people heard the word musical they automatically thought the whole film would just be random singing intervals like it’s mamma mia or something. But the way I can imagine it being used in this film is more scenes of joker singing destructively and chaotically, not making any sense of himself but wanting some sort of limelight to get the attention he always craved. todd philips did so well with the first movie people just need to trust the process, evident in just this first trailer alone that his work is going to be amazing

It’s only a movie. Well made or crappy, it’s mere fiction. Maybe I’m not as impressionable as I once was, and Hollywood doesn’t draw me in, but I’m happy that’s the case now. Remember, movies are just pretend.

A grifter tourist who probably never really read n finish any joker /batman comics from early, didn’t watch early Batman TV shows animated or even played those amazing Batman games.
If u did any of those then u know those scene u mention which blow ur mind exist in all of this medium. Batman Arkham trilogy n Origins even has solid arts n story how great Joker actually was in those trilogy n game.
Arkham Knight JOKER story n how he corrupted BATMAN n how they showed us n played in the game.
If any movie director played n saw those amazing scenes. Took any one of those n did that in film like this.

This failure should have happened with the first film, but it was forcibly promoted to the Oscars so that the audience could, through Joaquin receiving an Oscar, imagine what it would be like if Heath Ledger had received it live, so it was antics, not Joaquin Phoenix’s acting performance and Lady Gaga deserve the Golden Raspberry Award.

DC is at their best when they’re making self contained character studies/dramas. I wish them good luck with the new cinematic universe but stuff like this is when they’re truly on another level

I don't think they have to be self-contained. But they have to be mature, adult, dark and serious. Nobody likes when DC superheroes are aimed at babies and kiddies. They've been trying to escape that image for 40 years. The movies like Shazam and Blue Beetle that slide back to that are just disasters for the brand.

There's a great example of this. It happened in England. Two Swedish girls ran into traffic on the motorway. They experienced their shared psychosis together at the same time. It's on youtube and it's hard to get your head round but it's a genuine thing. It's like they were in another dimension, and they didn't even feel a thing. They were hit by lorries and still trying to get up and fight. Their were no drugs or alcohol in their system at the time. Watch the video, it's crazy.
