    This way I get a proper machine at a proper price, the previous owner, who got ripped off by Apple's overpricing gets partially reimbursed and Apple can't line their pockets with my German money.

      2. It’s Foxconn, not Foxcom

Maybe this is true, BUT the way these commenters are talking about it it's as if they believe this is a new development. It's not. Apple has always been an expensively priced company pertaining their products. So if they fall due to this, it's just a case of living and dying by the sword.

    I like how they forgot to inform the viewer about Bill Gates saving Apple. When Apple was at their lowest Bill purchase Non-cashable stock or know better as a non-repayable loan. Now Apple needed money and Microsoft needed Apple for antitrust monopoly excuses.
    Everyone has rosy glasses on talking about their top products ( Apple 2, Macintosh after 5-10 years; now Mac, iPod, iTunes after multiple years, iPhone after a year, iPad ) What about their other 100's of flops. Apple is no different then other companies; other than Apple steals ideas and rewrite history to say they invented it. Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb, his lab perfected a usable longer life device.
    Apple is a commodity company and will have issues like Sony in time.
    Apple 2 - obsolete
    iPod - killed by iPhone
    iPad - slow death by iPhone
    Mac - slow death by bad quality, over pricing, non-upgradeable, blaming customs for bad design faults - oops, I call it a $1000s light bulb - better make it more affordable or find newer younger customers.
    iTunes - death by streaming ( after saving then killing the music industry, it is going the same way! Year over year decline )
    iPhone their last savior....
    However, when you see RUclips videos of 9+ year fan boys looking at the XS and XS Max phones with a response of "Meh, I don't think I'll get one this year" Apple is in "T R O U B L E".
    Microsoft had problems selling new operating systems every new release, Sony having too much competition for similar products, and many other companies. The industry for a commodity better be propelling to keep buying a newer product for the middle-income family which is slowly loosing the economic battle. Apple is a Western economic company, developing and Eastern countries like the products but need more reasonable and affordable devices.
    Apple will be in big hurt within 5-10 years when their empire collapses for the second time.
    Lookout for anti-trust and tax evasion...

      I don't know how many people will read this, but the OP is wrong. Coincidentally, I watched videos on BOTH Microsoft and Sony and this guy is either ill informed or misrepresenting facts. Maybe some don't care because they'll relish the idea of Apple crumbling.
      From what I recall, part of Sony's issues came from Japan's economy, which had a significant impact on their business. Yes, there were other issues, but there was a lot of stuff going on which led to their current struggles. But, they also weren't staying ahead of the competition who were making better products for a cheaper price (TV's). They were making a lot of mistakes, but that is one of the costliest.
      Microsoft's issue was complacency and disregarding new ideas so they were behind the curve when other companies were innovating, and then talent was leaving. For examples, they had a kindle like idea that Bill discarded. Also, because talent was leaving, Apple solved a software issue that they'd been struggling for months if not a year (or years).
      And Microsoft didn't save Apple. They bought shares due to a lawsuit that Apple won, so it was about saving their own ass. I don't remember all of the specifics, but there are videos on youtube about this. You briefly mentioned this, but ask yourself if MS would've bought this shares if they didn't lose the lawsuit?
      As far as my personal opinion:
      You don't base statement off of loyalists, but trends. Is apple trending up or downwards? People left Apple years ago and it still grew strong. So what evidence besides misrepresented facts do you have?
      Many successful companies have flops? What is the point that you're trying to make here? You assess situations by consistency, trends, polling, etc--not tying random things together and pretending it says something it doesn't.
      Apple kills most of their products to either stay in front of the technology curve or push the industry.
      Apple has always been expensive. They are who've they always been.

    • @runforit420

      Apple had money in the bank in 1997 because of Gil Amelio's financial maneuvering. Apple didn't need Microsoft's money. Microsoft's money finally settled the patent litigation dating back to 1988, which was a result of a 1985 deal where Microsoft insisted that it wouldn't renew the Applesoft BASIC license for the Apple II if Apple didn't sign a licensing agreement for the "look and feel" of the Macintosh. Whether it was Apple's right to license the "look and feel" is up for debate, but Microsoft pushed Apple into a corner in 1985. Without Applesoft BASIC, so many Apple II programs would not longer run on new Apple IIs, and the Apple II, in 1985, was still bringing in most of the company's profits.

    I have several points/questions. 1) I would've liked to see Jobs response to the following questions. a) What did Next & Pixar teach you that you brought back to Apple? and b) What did getting fired by Apple teach you about yourself? 2) As yet, there is no business model (that I'm aware of) that states what you might do, once you move from being the upstart to being the behemoth. Is there anybody (in business or academia) who considers such things? 3) Similar to question 2, what does a company do after they enter a market, knowing that the market will then not only undercut their prices, but actually counterfeit their product on a massive scale (which they won't be able to redress in any conceivable way? 4) What's next for Apple? Rikki Tikki.

    The problem I have with apple is not so much the price. It's their arrogance towards the consumer. Everything is proprietary. You have no other options besides their 'inside monopoly'. I took a long drive through Africa and couldn't listen to my ipod because there were no 'official ipod products' in the isolated shops there, and the regular speakers wouldn't work with it. If I'd had a normal MP3 player there'd be no problem since there were plenty of speakers which worked for everything else. Those speakers are interchangeable with any brand you like. There are tons of 3rd party products available worldwide for everything EXCEPT apple. A hard lesson learned via my first and last apple product!

    • @Ziaonfilmandtv
      @Ziaonfilmandtv 5 лет назад +6

      Almost everyone knows that Apple has a closed system. If you knew this going in, it's your fault about whatever happened. Second, I can't speak for the year of your iPod/Apple product, BUT I could play music on a wireless speaker, not apple, without any issues. I could listen to wireless headphone on my iPhone without any issues. My sister always plays her music from her iPad to her Samsung soundbar without any issues. I've even paired my iPhone with another wireless speaker that I used once with issue. So, what are you talking about? I'm not saying nothing is proprietary, but for most products, your example is furthest from the truth.

    • @janejan9728
      @janejan9728 5 лет назад +4

      This was over 10 years ago. There was a warning on the screen that an incompatible device was connected. You know, back when dedicated ipods and mp3 players were still a thing, and wireless was still not a thing. I knew mac was a closed system, but I thought ipods were just another type of mp3 player. It was sold as a standalone product, you could get itunes for windows, etc... Perhaps they figured it out, but I certainly never looked back. But some things never change. Their products have always been more about fashion than function.

    • @Ziaonfilmandtv
      @Ziaonfilmandtv 5 лет назад

      Fashion than function in what way? I think that's connected to the complaint about it being a closed system.

    • @janejan9728
      @janejan9728 5 лет назад +1

      It is related in the sense that an open system that allows you much more flexibility and utility. The product becomes more useful if you can use it with the multitude of 3rd party products available. They don't want you connecting your stylish mac machines with potentially un-stylish accessories. Another example of fashion over function is the specs. While they do look lovely, they are utterly overpriced and totally under powered. If they could AT LEAST compete with specs from other manufacturers, then maybe you could justify paying more for style. But the modern specs are inferior to machines half the price, and of course design is becoming much competitive as well. And then the debacles such as headphone jacks removed and dongles being necessary so your device can 'look' more sleek. These things are all related. They want you using your pretty iphone with your pretty mac and your pretty ear pods and nothing else is permitted.

    Was this researched by millennials??? Walk into any family home in the late 80's and you had a good chance of finding an Amiga computer, and NOT an IBM or Macintosh - those were grossly overpriced for family budgets, but the gaming computer was insanely popular for those going through high school in the mid/late 80's.
    It's ironic that Jobs took on the music industry as well with the iPod and iTunes for someone who wasn't an audiophile to begin with. Not even today does the iPhone come with a graphic equalizer as standard and they removed the headphone jack too. Apple doesn't have a clue what audiophiles really demand from their music playback devices otherwise we would see it in today's iPhones and iPads.

  • @GeFeldz
    @GeFeldz 5 лет назад +3

    The original Macintosh was grossly overpriced, severely lacking in RAM and with literally 1-bit graphics (black and white, every pixel was either full black or full white, no greyscale)
    During the original unveiling, Steve Jobs and everyone behind the scenes were crossing their fingers and praying to whatever personal deity or spontaneously created entity of mercy, that the sodding heap of electronics wouldn't crash. It had about a quarter of the RAM it should have had and the software was balancing on a fine line.
    Crap! The Apple II was miles ahead in terms of computing power and features, except for the OS, and at a much more reasonable price.
    Apple without Steve Jobs is clearly losing its edge when it comes to design, innovation and novelty. The latest few iterations of iPhones don't really offer up anything novel in terms of groundbreaking changes in the way people use technology. It's just bigger screens, removal of questionably "legacy" ports and higher prices. The Jobs era after his return to the company really saw Apple inventing new paradigms and massively cashing in on them. Just look at the iPod and the iPhone, those products took new ideas that had started to emerge and packaged them in a sleek, easy to use and proprietary format.
    I've never owned an Apple product and i probably never will, because i absolutely detest the propriety (special hardware, software and markets), the ridiculous pricing and the arrogance and snobbery that come with being an Apple person. Lately, the quality, longevity, serviceability and pricing of/lack of spare parts have soured me even further, not to mention that it's soured long-time Apple customers and service people to the point that they're bailing out. Apple has lost the edge and the creativity and others have caught up and surpassed them. A big thank you to Apple for changing the world, a big middle finger to the way they have artificially walled in their "ecosystem" and alienated people and so long and thanks for all the fish!

      I'm on my second Huawei phone right now, the Mate 10 pro, the first one was the Google Nexus 6p. I loved my Nexus 6p, however it always ran hot, the battery life declined rapidly and the fatal flaw was that the USB-C port became more and more sensitive and intermittant. I usually repair my phones myself, exchanging batteries and screens if i can, buying components online, so i googled how to exchange the battery and the USB-C port. It turns out, you can change the battery but the USB-C port is a part of the main circuit board. That's when i started researching new phones, i almost bought a galaxy 8 but then came the mate 10 pro. I checked it out and the USB-C port is connected with a cable instead of part of the main board. The screen is slightly smaller and there's no headphone jack, but there are USB-C to 3.5mm adapters so i went for it. I'm very satisfied with the phone. It's quicker, it's got a big enough screen while it's smaller and lighter, it has significantly better battery life and it doesn't get hot! Also, the battery life hasn't really declined a lot, i suspect that's because of less heat. Huawei make great phones! I have yet to experience any intermittance in the USB-C port as well, so they might have kept it a part of the main board because they have a more mechanically sound port, but if i ever need to repair it i can! One of the real kickers is that the Mate 10 Pro is actually IP rated, i had a mishap with my Nexus 6p when i dropped it in water while climbing out of my boat. It did survive, but it was probably because of me getting it out of the water, turning it off, getting it home and drying it for days before i turned it on. The Mate 10 Pro, i'd just pick up, dry off and carry on. I actually rinse it off when needed and not a single problem yet.
      ANYWAY. Long story short, there are better phones than iPhones, they are less expensive and they don't force you into the Apple gated community.

Although the products are "sexy" they "trap" you into replacement rather than repair. And dont get me started on the software. Ever try to upgrade your IOS? to try to "unlock" a product one must go into their bios and actually write lines of code to make yourself an administrator. I used to hate windows. Some people say Too big to fail
    Now...where did I hear that 🤔
    Nokia was too big to fail
    (personally I was an apple fan)
    The thing that made apple a leading brand was innovation
    In 2008 the iPhone was the thing in the market...a leapfrog from all other phones out there for 4 years..uncontested and undefeated...so it was worth it to spend a lot of money to own one
    Then...came along the app store...the iPad...and apple watch
    Now...with many competitors out there with a much cheaper price for a product that can do the same job (and sometimes better) as apple product
    Coupled with the fact that apple is continuously screwing their loyal customer base like:
    - Ios update that purposly slowing down the performance of older phones
    - taking away the headphone jack confining customers to use only their headphones or Bluetooth headphones
    - changing the charger head in their macs
    - going with USB type C only in their notebooks so u have to get an adaptor
    - your backup in iCloud is encrypted. If u have some data in ur older phone u wish to bring u will need to back up the entire phone in ur new device..or use some softwares which don't work most of the time...very unfriendly system
    I changed from apple (notebook, phone and watch)
    I still use the iPad though bcoz I do artwork only bcoz of the apple pencil is still ahead of competitors (I wonder for how long?)

Steve put things into Apple products he thought people would want and the product would then sell itself, Tim Crook puts, or takes off in some cases, things on Apple products based on how much profit apple can make from it.

      That's a weird way of looking at things. All experts continue to learn on the job after their first education. And so did Steve Wozniak at HP and Steve Jobs at Atari. Also know that Wozniak was even having ideas of building its own processor with just the knowledge he had at the time. That's how geeky he was into computers. Read his biography. There were magazines at the time that also helped to learn about electronics and computers (like I did myself in the eighties). I soldered my first computer in 1982 based on a slightly modification of a design from a magazine. It was the microprocessor that made all this easier than ever. Getting the picture? Was Wozniak unique? No, certainly not. But together with Jobs they made the right couple to start a computer company.

What I mean is, you can get your pictures or videos from your device to copy to your non apple laptop or pc without itunes (not sure about latest iOS now) and when your device locked because you forgot your password you will have to reset your device from iTunes, and need to download the firmware first will cost you internet connection or data, and all your photos and videos will be gone (unless you save them to iCloud) and no storage expansion till this time. But in overall performance and long life of devices I still like Apple products (from steve job era) not the current era.
