I may be old-fashioned, but the Sheikah I grew up with were dark ninjas with a bloody history of torture: a tribe - a clan - of sorcerers who summoned twisted monsters and ensorcelled the dead to do their bidding; who created masks and relics of terrible power - masks that kept one awake indefinitely, that allowed one to read minds, lenses that allowed one to see through any illusion, masks used in hexing rituals, masks that fused the shadows themselves... I love the Sheikah, and I feel that the Yiga are far closer to their ancestors than the Sheikah we see in Breath of the Wild.
@@Beenevolence My theory is that there are two types mummification that the Shieka use. You have the kind that is saved for the monks that are dedicated to helping the hero and serving the goddess Hylia and you have the process that curses people into becoming Redeads. The rituals that make the Redead are probably saved for traitors and prisoners with the clay masks being used as the final piece to complete the transformation.
The fact that there’s a place like the Shadow Temple and Well underneath Kakariko gives me hives. But I love it! To me, this darkness and shadowcraft makes Zelda games so mysterious. Granted, I don’t usually delve too deep into game theory. I genuinely think the developers don’t care about that as much as we do. But the Sheikah is so fascinating. Same way Ikana valley is the best part of Majora’s Mask.
I even think those two are connected; the Garo of Stone Tower, the portal in the sky that leads to a desert Wasteland ravaged by sandstorms inhabited by two massive Moldorms, moldorms the sandworms that live in Hyrule's Lanayru Province in the Gerudo Desert, the Gerudo who worship a sand Goddess and snakes, the Gerudo who have witches that summon portals... I think that the Gerudo and the Sheikah both have a shared ancestor: the Garo of Termina.
Idk about that. The community has theorized about there being a division within the sheikah tribe since twilight princess.....and now the yiga clan exists which is exactly that.
A german Let's Player (Lookslikelink) has a theory, that Bongo Bongo, once a Sheika, had secretly stolen the Eye of Truth so nobody exept him could see the truth. So he hid it in his cellar, in his house, where now the well is standing. He also secretly kidnapped people and made his cellar into a torture chamber, where he experimented, to gain power. Once the Sheikas finally found the serial killer and his cellar, it was too late. They imprisoned and executed him, but because he already obtained the power, he later came back from death as a demon. Impa, who was very strong, imprisoned him in the well, and build a village around it so the peoples happieness etc. would power up the spell that helds BB in it. But because of Ganondorf, the peoples hopes and happieness faded, as well the spell, and BB broke out once again, until the hero of times defeated him with the Master Sword ince and for all.
“Taboo” is not the same as “unaware”. It’s intentionally turning a blind eye, especially if they have some degree of involvement, benefited from it, or outright sanctioned it. We also know in other games that the Royal Family outright orders genocide. They also act like liegelords to all non-hylian tribes...IF said tribes are lucky. (Otherwise...they’re driven out, imprisoned, and/or massacred.) The Royal Family forged Hyrule’s bloody history of greed. The Sheikah were merely doing their dirty work because of a fealty pledge originally given to Hylia that then passed down to those who carried the goddess’s bloodline, regardless of their morality. Every time the Sheikah appear, they get a rough deal, and often only have a single surviving member...with recent royal family history being heavily implied as the direct cause of their destruction yet again. (Really. It’s no wonder why the Yiga formed. The Royal Family pushed them too far. Hylia forsake them...so why NOT cast their luck with Demise’s Vessel? Ganondorf’s just as Cursed by fate as they are.)
Nonoctoro Hate to break it to you? But they did genocide three times outright in TP with the Sheikah, Gerudo, and Twili’s ancestors. (Also look up a genocide scale.) Banishment/forced relocation of an entire group IS a “softer” form of genocide, and it’s even winked at in OoT with Impa being the only Sheikah survivor and the Gerudo being forced into a desert where they’re forced to steal just to survive and became desperate enough to invade. And the “monsters” multiple times have been shown to be intelligent and having their own societies and culture! They even have their own *Sage* !
@@anonymousfellow8879 I've said this before and I'll say it again: the entire plot of Ocarina of Time wouldn't have happened if the royal family didn't force the Gerudo tribe to live in a ghetto in the desert and be forced to steal for survival. Ganondorf, who flat out admits why he wanted to destroy OoT Hyrule in Wind Waker, would've never harbored that much hatred in his heart toward Hyrule and the royal family if he was allowed to live normally like every other race in the game. The royal family created Ganondorf.
Nonoctoro Misfire or testing, so what. It didn’t cause radiation, and the Sheikah were forced to abandon ALL of their culture. If you can’t see it wasn’t as simple as placing things into storage I don’t know what to tell you. And we have the games’ events and a pattern, so don’t even bother “quoting” wog at me...which all literally reads as the same “history written by the victors and glossing over their involvement if they can’t outright sweep it under completely” that plagues any history. Take a grain of salt. It ain’t the “good wittle Chosenestestest by the gods who do no wong~ uwu “ that it all reads. We. Have. Evidence to the contrary. (Oh...and those narratives? Um...those are always promoted by nationalists if not outright fascists.)
Nonoctoro Uhhhh...no. The gods behave closer to Japanese kami (ie, they ain’t good, they ain’t evil, but they’re often petty af and the line between Kami and Yokai literally doesn’t really exist, as often they’re observed the same. Which literally every polytheistic pantheon of gods are petty and ambiguous...but the shinto cast takes it to a whole ‘nother level) And anyone who *isn’t* a hylian gets an extremely rough deal. The hylians weren’t the only ones under threat by Demise, yet they were the only ones yeeted to saftey. A la all of skyward sword as you’re constantly saving all the NPC races you interact with as they’re quite literally caught in the crossfire. That’s extremely blatant favoritism to go with the hylians’ nasty habit of nationalism. And again. All the non-monster tribes who sided with Demise and/or Ganon(dorf) did so out of desperation. And for all the RiverZora being “monsters” in every game they appear...several are also Neutral NPCs? One is even a Sage? The hylians made their own bed, Demise and his vessel simply just take advantage of it seperate from the Samsara Curse Demise created (which...arguably Hylia created it by reincarnating into Zelda then having her essence pass down that bloodline and choosing Link. All Demise did was give himself his own avatar/vessel out of pettiness. But those who sided with him? They’ve always had their *own* motivations for doing so-simply wanting a better life, to not be cast out or repressed or outright murdered. That’s it. That’s all they want in any game if they’re given any dialogue or Neutral NPCs exist at all. That’s all anyone wants.)
Tea Noire Exactly!!!! Finally somebody gets it. (I also highly recommend the fanon webcomic Growing Up Gerudo on webtoons if you haven’t already heard of it. It’s obviously AU, but they explore those same ideas and scraps of lore while also putting their own spin on it. And Impa, Nabooru, and Ganondorf are BOSS, with the Sages being much more proactive in general.)
Spoilery spoiler spoilers. It's already confirmed that BOTW 2 will be a lot darker then majoras mask is. That says a lot. I mean ocarina of time has it's more sinister parts here and there. But Majoras Mask is totally themed about death loss and unsatisfied souls. So yeah I'm hyped xD
It would be incredible if they added back the shadow temple in botw2. Can you imagine how terrifying that would be in botw graphics? It should be like an optional hidden area/quest, so that lil kids following the main quest wouldn’t find it. They could make it incredibly dark.
Most of everyone probably already knows about this, but I find it neat and wanted to mention it. In Tibetan Buddhism, some monks will enter into a deep meditative state in caves, effectively becoming self-mummified by the cold, dry environment. It's believed by adherents to the Tibetan branch of Buddhism that these monks still live, but in an extremely deep state of meditation; that they've suspended their life and consciousness in a near-death state. Their appearance is very similar to that of the Sheikah monks, with desiccated limbs and dried, shriveled skin. Plus the monks in Breath of the Wild seem to take on poses vaguely evocative of the various mudras and asanas used in yogic meditation, which is also a part of esoteric Buddhist practice. This, I think, is the biggest inspiration for the Sheikah monks, with them entering into an indefinite state of meditation and suspended animation until Link completes their Trials, whereupon they impart their life force in the form of a Spirit Orb onto him and disintegrate, their time alive now permitted to end.
Hey, I was wondering if you had ever thought about doing a theory about the skull found in the bottomless bog in BoTW? A lot of people have talked about the leviathans and other skeletons in Hyrule but no one seems to talk about that HUGE skull just sitting there. It doesn’t look like any of the other skeletons in Hyrule so I was wondering if you had any ideas about it?
In another video I learnt about the "All Night Mask" which never let's people sleep, no matter how much they try! What if the early redeads where the tortured people force to wear the wooden version masks, longing to rest in peace?
If that's the case, wouldn't it mean that Purah perfected the technology not only to keep the dead alive but to revert ageing and prevent death altogether?
I like how the Sheika monks are somewhat stand ins for the concept of a "living Buddha" in eastern philosophy. Their bodies reach a certain living mummy point, but their spirits remain with them long after the body stops functioning. Really, it raises a lot of questions that we don't have answers for.
I would be more inclined to believe the following: The redead were failed experiments at creating the Shrine of Resurrection. Multiple games describe them as undead, so they're more likely to be a failed attempt at reanimation than an attempt at immortality. In this theory, the Sheikah attempted to reanimate the corpses of their recently deceased community members, though in early experiments only a small functionality of the brain was restored. This lead to the redead. Too heartbroken to slay the bodies of their community members, they locked them away, hoping no one would discover them. The monks, meanwhile, seem to be a religious practice. The in-game monks are based an old Buddhist practice of self-mummification (sokushinbutsu), where the most devoted monks would restrict their diet to a point of emaciation, eliminating all fat in the body, and eventually lock themselves in a temple to die in a meditation pose. Based on this real-world basis, I would imagine that the ancient monks attempted a similar practice, rather than attempting reanimation. The monks created their shrines in order to test the next hero, then went through the self-mummification process in order to preserve their lifeless body as a vessel for their spirit to be transferred to the next hero to help him on his quest.
So from my knowledge: That supposed Sheikah who betrayed the Sheikah stole The Eye of truth. The bottom of the well used to be a house but underneath was his own secret base where he captured and tortured others. The Dead Hand was a final torture method if carving them open didn't work. When he was captured, he was executed then strung up on the ceiling. The drum serves as an execution drum for when he was beheaded. Happy Halloween 👻
I think it's really interesting exploring the dark pasts of fictional groups like the Sheikah tribe and royal family because in reality, pretty much every single country, kingdom, religious group, etc has a dark past of some kind, even if they do a lot of good now. It's also interesting how you linked the technology gained from torture and inhumane experimentation (shadow temple, redeads, etc.) with something beautiful and beneficial thousands of years later (breath of the wild); kind of like how a lot of the medical procedures we have now that save countless lives were discovered because of disgustingly inhumane experiments on prisoners of war and victims of the holocaust. History is rarely black and white, and its fascinating being able to link that truth to a world as rich and full of secrets as Hyrule. Anyway, all rambling aside, awesome video, yo!
I always thought the monks were dead and it was just their spirit talking to Link, and solving their puzzle freed their spirit and allowed them to move on. The way they look reminds me of the people in real life who started to mummify themselves while they were alive. This is another cool theory, though.
I never really thought of the Sheikah monks as redeads, that's actually pretty cool. I guess that would put OoT eons before BotW, since the monks would have been "re-dead-ed" in the original battle 1000 years before the game started, and they clearly weren't anywhere nearly capable of making a sentient redead in OoT.
Now that I think of it, Ganondorf was right, the Royal Family were the villains in all of this, they let the Kakariko village drink from a well which was the entrance to a torture chamber, maybe they even killed other Hyrule civilians in that chamber. They also let the Gerudos suffer in horrific conditions and they killed/exiled their most loyal servers, the Sheikah… I’m starting to think Link is just a disposable pawn/expendable asset in a big game of chess. In Wind Waker Ganondorf said he wanted to use the triforce to bring back Hyrule to what it once was, but of course the King told Link that “oh he can’t do that because… reasons?” And when they beat Ganondorf they could’ve easily restored Hyrule to what it was with the triforce, but no, the King let the Triforce stay under water and on top of that, the Master Sword also stayed under the sea. The King would much rather let Hyrule be destroyed than letting anyone else rule it. If you ask me, that’s freaking evil, fucked up levels of evil, psychopatic levels of evil… jeez, now that I think of it heroes are turning into villains and villains are starting to make sense
And yet, it seems we don't learn our lesson in this. Why is it that every single time we have a villain whose motivations make sense and the heroes are guilty of crimes that should be considered inhumane by nature? If this is what the Hyrule kings are all about, then I would rather take Zelda and Link away from that environment and say 'Screw your majesty, we protect our people from kings like you'. I'd even sick the Divine Beasts on those retched kings and spread the Hylians around the world so they would become less attached to a genocidal king. Plus, Link and Zelda are kids, they deserve a better life away from all this genocide..
I think the thing the monks sit in are like a different version of the shrine of resurrection but instead of resurrecting a body, it preserves the body for a very long time. That is why the monks are still alive until Link opens/breaks the seal/walls
Yep. The wooden masks, traditionally, are just burial masks. But, I believe they were more than that: enchanted masks (typical Sheikah, with their haunted masks) that forced the wearer to endure a living death; a torture for all eternity. Creepy, creepy Sheikah. THESE are the Sheikah I grew up with; not the friendly, Goddess-serving heroes we see lately, but the dark sorcery-wielding ninjas who created the Shadow Temple, the Lens of Truth, the Mask of Truth, the All-Night Mask, the Fused Shadows, the Majora's Mask, and all of the undead enemies that creep beneath the earth.
@@hanburgundy4317 I've always seen the Sheikah as Hyrule's version of the illuminati or something like that. Dark, mysterious, secretive, and not something to underestimate. They aren't really villains but a number of their methods are villainous in nature.
While I know that the Zeda OoT manga is not cannon, I always found it intriguing how it states that the tear drop was added to the Sheikah symbol because of "an act of betrayal on the part of the Royal Family of Hyrule, resulting in the banishment of the Sheikah tribe from the kingdom". In BoTW, we are told how the king of Hyrule ordered the Sheikah technology to be buried, but they don't speak of how the historical tapestries show Sheikah fleeing from royal guards (and how some of them branch out to form the Yiga). There's just an eerie familiarity here... I'd personally love it if the Royal Family is hiding more dirt than they care to share with the history books.
One of the guards in front of Impa's house does blatantly say the king feared their technology could pose a threat and they were exiled. Some then "chose to live normal lives" while others formed the Yiga clan. The way he said it really sounded like the royal family just turned on them.
Personally, I don’t really agree with the death demon worship thing. The other stuff makes sense, but the Sheikah are historically known to be very protective of Hylia-their purpose for existing. I don’t think they would’ve been worshipping some random evil entity instead of her.
It's interesting that you brought up Windwaker when there were no Sheikah symbols or characters in the game. If the redeads in Windwaker were made by the Sheikah, then that implies they were created the redeads before the sea rose and left them there for god only knows how long. it's maddening to think about. The monks in BOTW chose to be mummified. Were they aware of the passage of time? And if Link chose not to enter those shrines (cause c'mon, I totally skipped the motion control one at Hateno on my second playthrough) were they prepared to sit there for all of eternity? The most frightening thing about the Sheikah is not only their willingness to experiment on other people, but on themselves as well. At what point do they decide they've gone too far?
That’s why some sheikas became the yiga clan in breath of the wild to serve ganon. I hope they are explored more in breath of the wild sequel. Maybe they allied with the Zonai to seal ganon to prevent him from reincarnating.
An other theory says that the shadow temple was a place of training and worship for the sheikahs. But during the civil war, the tribe splited into two parts, one willing to stay loyal to the royal family, and the other trying to take over. The shadow temple was then used by the royal family to interogate the sheikahs traitors, which led to the corruption and hatred we can feel in the dungeon atmosphere.
I've always felt that the sheikah were mortal when they had a task to do because in Skyward Sword the moment that impa's job is fulfilled she dies and in breath of the Wild all of the sheikah monks fulfill their purpose and also die, except for Maz koshia, which I don't believe his role as yet finished
Sort of off topic since its not about the Sheikah as a whole community, but someone mentioned that Paya shows signs of extreme trauma caused by childhood abuse, and as a survivor of that myself, i honestly agree even though i doubt that it was impa who did that to her. Anyone have any thoughts?
Poor Paya. She mentions that her name is because of a birthmark shaped like a papaya seed, and from asking the question of where it is and her reaction to it, it seems to imply she has it near her private parts which might have been taken advantage of. Dang, the way I say it, it sounds incredibly disturbing and I don't want to get into the implications of what that entailed for Paya..
@@Fat_Man_Ethan It's hilarious - I schooled this Nonoctoro guy a couple years ago and he blocked me, and here I still see him being tagged for getting things wrong lmao Wish I could see what he says XD
But then what about Impa in skyward sword? She was able to stay alive and serve the goddess by protecting the blade long before OOT. And seemed to use the same magic as the monks
I love the Sheikah Tribe so much!! There is just so much mystery behind them it really boggles the mind. I actually have the Sheikah Eye tatted on my back.
My friend once tried to convince me that the sheikah (please excuse my terrible spelling) had been evil all along, he then provided many of the creations of the sheikah, and then went on about how impa is always there, then he said that the yiga could have been a cover up story for the sheikah being caught in a crime. Idk, it only sorta made sense to me, and I probably left a lot out, but whatever, thought I might as well mention it
There are two things you missed about Bongo Bongo. 1. He is hanging upside down , like someone strapped to a torture devise. 2. The instrument of he uses , it is what he used to deliver secrets. As to if it was musical Morse code , or simply hiding secrets in drums is unclear. But he may have been the one who revealed the royal families secret to success. The secret of where and how the Tri-force was hidden.
Not sure if Monk Mas Koshia was actually a Re-Dead, but it was still a great Boss Fight! Also, did anyone notice how both the Bottom of the Well and the Shadow Temple from LoZ:OoT closely resemble the famous catacombs of Paris, France?
I do wonder if the reason that the Shiekah in BotW became more…. Tame, is because their own history was wiped out on the orders of the royal family. Do Impa, Purah and Robbie even know the atrocious crimes their ancestors committed in the name of Hyrule?
If they don't, they're safe in blissful ignorance. If they do, the fact that they're peaceful now is a huge point in their favor. Gotta give those three credit, they are far from the monsters their ancestors were, and for that I will be happy..
Yep. The wearer is forced to stay awake indefinitely, no matter how much you might want to sleep or close your eyes or pass out, you can't - forced to endure whatever terrible thing might be happening to you. Then, after you've begged for death for who knows how long, you finally get it -- only to be forced to wear a new mask: the Spooky Mask - a mask that forces you to endure a living death, unable to EVER find rest. Creepy-ass Sheikah lol
I think that the Composer Brothers meant well, and created the Sun's Song to give peaceful rest to the living dead - to undo the atrocities committed by their people.
You can NOT infer that the kingdom had no connection to the tortures just because they forbid speaking of it. The forbidding is evidence to the contrary if anything.
Dark Nimbus So they’re using the souls of the dead as energy? Dark. Then again, that WOULD explain the blue glow on the guardians/divine beasts... Oh dear lord
I get the feeling part of it is supposed to be that the Yiga are loyalists to the brutal ways of old, while the “True Sheikah” have renounced the ways of blood and hatred.
I would love to see this explored in botw 2 where we discover how the sheikah were actually fueling their tech off of the feud lasting between link, ganondorf, and zelda. And unknowingly by doing this, they actually prolonged the curse set upon the land by demise and now the curse is inescapable due to their carelessness to achieve power in technology.

the theory that the sheikah used life force in the tech goes nicely with my theory that Ganon can control anything that has life force and doesn't fight back against the malice. and as well that if you give up willingly you get the power of teleportation. maybe some of the guardians got some last minute programing making it so they would fight back. it would explain why yiga and lynel both have the ability to teleport but durian doesn't despite being a former yiga. after all if it was a learned skill and not a given one would it make sense for him to use it even after leaving the yiga clan? at the very least to defend his family and fight the yiga member that attacked him
Interesting. I've seen other vids about the Shadow Temple that claim that the victims of the temple weren't enemies of the Royal Family, but the Sheikah themselves, like the man who would become Bongo Bongo. It made sense back then prior to BOTW being released since Impa is the only one of her clan we ever see. As for the Redeads, I can see it slightly in the Wind Waker ones, but I always figured that they were simple dead people brought to life via Ganondolf's magic, like Poes and other undead enemies.
Ok, haven't watched yet, but the intro was so chilling. Nicely done. edit: Now I've watched it and I am thoroughly creeped out. Also kinda surprised there is blood in a Zelda game, I thought they didn't do that (in the game rated E no less XD)
Wow, the more darker secrets about the Zelda timeline we discover, the less family-friendly the franchise becomes. How much further will The Legend of Zelda dive into a realm of darkness with dark secrets until it becomes something kids can’t play anymore...?
@@ericolens3 Right? Interesting thoughts. I have my own ideas on the Sheikah dark history, but that depends on whether or not you'd like to hear a fan fiction. Meanwhile, yours is more plausible for the actual Zelda canon.
LOL I don’t believe for a second that the royal family was unaware of the horrors of the shadow temple. Hyrule is based on medieval Europe where people fought for power. It’s essentially Game of Thrones. If you want to obtain and keep power, you have to be savage, ruthless and brutal. Like they say “Uneasy is the head that wears the crown”. While OOT could render open world due to obvious limitations, there were probably other cities and towns that housed powerful lords, dukes and other nobility that desired the crown. Therefore, the royal family had to take care of them.
The hand holding gannondorf down has green spirals winding upwards, witch has the same green glow as the luminous stones, so I ask, COULD THIS BE GANNONDORF'S SPIRIT? Also, in one part of the video shows a shadow on the wall that could be a flashback on when Gannondorf was mummified.
I knew the shieka had dark history and such but I didn't know how dark with the whole dungeon thing. That super dark. One thing I'd like to mention is zombies were in skyward sword which is supposed to be at the beginning of the game in the underground area in the secret water temple in lake hylia how did they get there? What made them?
It clearly says the royal families dark history... Not the shiekas... So you may want to edit this video... The munks got murdered and manipulated by the royal family... The man who could see... Was the man who got killed... Named bongo bongo. Who would have a problem with someone seeing... A royal fam who want to keep their subjects in the dark... The redead/gibdos/monks have powers... Yet as a player playing from the perspective of a hyrule "hero" that power is dangerous to the royal family... Links attacked as any hyrule worker would be... The monks just wanted peace, but reward those who could get through any trials and disturb them... They meditate... And link breaks their square... Its amazing how players can only see the perspective of good guy bad guy. Its so much more than polarized narratives going on.

And now maybe my fellow Zelda fans will understand why I avoid the Sheikah like the plague and hang out with Gorons instead.
I love the Gorons
I’d love to be a goron tbh
just live of rocks, do a happy dance, and make weird noises here and there sounds like the way to live tbh

(Otherwise...they’re driven out, imprisoned, and/or massacred.)
The Royal Family forged Hyrule’s bloody history of greed.
Nonoctoro
Hate to break it to you? But they did genocide three times outright in TP with the Sheikah, Gerudo, and Twili’s ancestors. (Also look up a genocide scale.)
Banishment/forced relocation of an entire group IS a “softer” form of genocide, and it’s even winked at in OoT with Impa being the only Sheikah survivor and the Gerudo being forced into a desert where they’re forced to steal just to survive and became desperate enough to invade.
Nonoctoro
Misfire or testing, so what.
Nonoctoro
Uhhhh...no. The gods behave closer to Japanese kami (ie, they ain’t good, they ain’t evil, but they’re often petty af and the line between Kami and Yokai literally doesn’t really exist, as often they’re observed the same. Which literally every polytheistic pantheon of gods are petty and ambiguous...but the shinto cast takes it to a whole ‘nother level)
And anyone who *isn’t* a hylian gets an extremely rough deal.
Tea Noire
Exactly!!!!
Hopefully they go more into the darker history of hyrule in botw2

@@crowmaster9652 spoilers for a game that hasn't come out yet and hasn't gotten anymore storytelling besides what we see in the trailer?

My best guess is.. Sacrifice
In another video I learnt about the "All Night Mask" which never let's people sleep, no matter how much they try!
What if the early redeads where the tortured people force to wear the wooden version masks, longing to rest in peace?
This. I think this exact thing: that the "Spooky Masks" are made to force the wearers to endure a living death.
Everytime I hear the Kakariko theme, I get emotional, how time has flown by..
I was always wondering why Gannon was made out of sheikha technology and they wanted to to test someone to act like a hero and link was chosen.
ik you told the first guess to come out but I was the artist for that pic sooooooooooo imma come out too

@@BanditGames Yesssss sir!
I like how the Sheika monks are somewhat stand ins for the concept of a "living Buddha" in eastern philosophy. Their bodies reach a certain living mummy point, but their spirits remain with them long after the body stops functioning. Really, it raises a lot of questions that we don't have answers for.
I would be more inclined to believe the following:
The redead were failed experiments at creating the Shrine of Resurrection.
3:37 Does anybody else always hear the melody to "happy birthday" in the shadow temple music?
Awesome Video Bro!
"And today we are going to explore in... 'Hyrule's bloody history of greed and hatred.'" I get the reference! Its a Shadow temple quote!
Wow... I was slightly blown away at how well this fits together...
I'm seriously stunned at how well this theory works. Great work, man! Also, I appreciate you dedicating a video to those new to the franchise.
I actually learned a few more things here. Gives new meaning to skeletons in your closet.
Thanks!
Oh man, the Shadow Temple alone should have gotten Ocarina of Time a T rating. All of that blood and that dark, violent, foreboding atmosphere.
Why do the preserved Sheikah monks look like the ReDeads from Wind Waker? This guy answered that question.
It took me a good 30 minute to gather up the courage to click the video from the sight of the thumbnail.
Yep, the Shiekah have a storied history of being spoopy.
You should know that the sheika were using time shift stones in the beginning or skyward sword
Nonoctoro only the sheikah would have tech advanced enough to use the time shift stones
Nonoctoro the wind tribe did not exist during the time of skyward sword only the sheikah and probably a few more also impa has a darker skin tone too
Pretty sure if anything, the Sheikah learned to utilize the power of the Timeshift stones (low-key Sheikahs made the Ocarina of time)
@@Fat_Man_Ethan It's hilarious - I schooled this Nonoctoro guy a couple years ago and he blocked me, and here I still see him being tagged for getting things wrong lmao Wish I could see what he says XD
But then what about Impa in skyward sword? She was able to stay alive and serve the goddess by protecting the blade long before OOT. And seemed to use the same magic as the monks

You should get the Yiga eye on your ass lol
That mf well scared me to no end! That’s a place of pure evil!
My friend once tried to convince me that the sheikah (please excuse my terrible spelling) had been evil all along, he then provided many of the creations of the sheikah, and then went on about how impa is always there, then he said that the yiga could have been a cover up story for the sheikah being caught in a crime.

woah, i really like the connection between redeads and the sheikah monks... i wonder if it can be further connected to ganondarf in the botw sequel? 🤔
There are two things you missed about Bongo Bongo.
1. He is hanging upside down , like someone strapped to a torture devise.
2. The instrument of he uses , it is what he used to deliver secrets.

Those paintings found in the Shadow Temple and the Bottom of the Well disturbed me as a kid...
You know, I played the ocarina of time but the blatant peace despite the chaos around them made me forget that the sheikah were so creepy
I'm finding this video by accident several months later, but I still love this.
Remember the All Night Mask? Shit still creeps me out when I boot up my Majoras Mask copy
I'm sure Purah does lots of sketchy stuff undercover
I have an idea, what if the luminescent stone is used as a kind of fossil fuel in sheikah tech?

I would love to see this explored in botw 2 where we discover how the sheikah were actually fueling their tech off of the feud lasting between link, ganondorf, and zelda. And unknowingly by doing this, they actually prolonged the curse set upon the land by demise and now the curse is inescapable due to their carelessness to achieve power in technology.

We all killed Bongo Bongo like a conundrum
the theory that the sheikah used life force in the tech goes nicely with my theory that Ganon can control anything that has life force and doesn't fight back against the malice. and as well that if you give up willingly you get the power of teleportation. maybe some of the guardians got some last minute programing making it so they would fight back. it would explain why yiga and lynel both have the ability to teleport but durian doesn't despite being a former yiga. after all if it was a learned skill and not a given one would it make sense for him to use it even after leaving the yiga clan? at the very least to defend his family and fight the yiga member that attacked him
BOTW and TOTK have a shared history with the other Zelda games like OoT. Look to the Shadow Temple to see what the Sheikah are truly like
They are the back up plan in case link isn’t strong enough to defeat Gannon. They probably are the creators of dark link.

God this gave me shivers
Interesting, love that more in-depth details. I never thought about this before!

Dude, your theory totally makes sense .
I've only played up to the fifth dungeon in Link's Awakening, and the first five seconds of Ocarina of Time when I was younger.
The earrings of the Redeads look like Master Kohga's earrings, and he is technically Sheikah.
In my opinion the shadow temple is definitely one of the darkest locations in Zelda
Ooohh the shieka are like Egyptians, not the originators of their craft just the next in line, and the zonai are like the people of kemet
1:34 so are we gonna ignore that one guy who just climbed up a vertical cliff by walking?
I don’t think the Monks are immortal (or Redeads for that matter), they are probably just enlightened AF.
Starting: Scary skeletons
Do any of the versions of Gannon retain anything from the previous Gannons such as abilities knowledge or anything else of substance?
