    I'm going to have to disagree. The fact that the composer Brothers seem to have died only a few decades before the game at most and Zelda's implication that the Ocarina is passed down the Royal Line don't match up. More likely the composer Brothers were merely researchers into magical music. Likely choosing this instrument because they already knew about the Ocarina. It could have been a sheikah project but it's in game description seems too old.

    • @DatakTarr
      @DatakTarr 5 лет назад +17

      Also i think the brothers are referring exclusively to the Sun Song. And that song works regardless of which ocarina you use. It is possible that Ganondorf just wanted to know how that song magic worked without the Ocarina of Time. If you can have songs that are magic regardless of the properties of the instrument, you might also be able to open the door of time with some other magical tune. But we won't know cause the brothers went and died.

      What about the ocarina in Minish Cap? It doesn't alter time, but it *is* blue, it's obtained in an ancient ruin, and it can summon a bird from anywhere.

    • @twobearshighfiving7660
      @twobearshighfiving7660 5 лет назад +2

      Well when your dealing with time, it could've very well been made in the distant future then set adrift in time. The Song of Storms has no origin either. In the same manner we learn it, the Ocarina could have been "passed down" to someone who passed it back onto the same person who gave it effectively creating itself. This is why I hate Time related lore for anything, such a headache.

    I feel the composer brothers just figured out how to do additional things with the ocarina. If it's made from time stones, which we don't really see exist anywhere but in ANCIENT times, it's quite possible this artifact is much much older than we think.

    • @qunt100
      @qunt100 4 года назад

      I would agree. It also has the ability to control time itself, which makes the possibilities endless honestly. Who is to say the minish cap link isn't holding the ocarina of time for example. Maybe this incarnation of link is holding the ocarina of time, and just doesn't realize it, as the knowledge of the instrument and its name and its powers were lost to legends of history. I mean, the graphic used for the ocarina in that game looks suspiciously similar to the ocarina of time in ocarina of time. It is interesting to ponder a parallel in history to where the ocarina of times powers aren't mentioned because they were lost or changed. You do learn a single song in minish cap, and it is given to you by a tribe calling themselves the tribe of winds. It seems to summon winds and warp you to various locations across the map. Perhaps this is one of the oldest songs to exist for the ocarina of time, and heck maybe the ocarina of time has the ability to bend wind also. Maybe some dude found the ocarina and found a special song that had this effect, and he called it the ocarina of winds in honor, as well as creating the tribe of winds in it's name. It's all just a bunch of legends thrown around. The games are all truly works of art, in that there are so many different ways to interpret them all. Also, if it is made from timeshift stones, can you hit the ocarina to turn it off and on? I mean, in skyward sword, that is the main method of turning the stones timeshifting properties off and on again. I mean, maybe the ocarina of time can be turned off and on, but that part of its history was lost or warped or changed or whatever by the time the era of the ocarina of time game came out. It could have possibly been used in ancient times as a way of preventing the ocarina of time getting into gannondorfs hands for example. I mean, a functional ocarina of time in gannondorfs hands spells dooms day for all zelda timelines to be honest with you, specially if he figures out how to use it. Or just simply being prevented from getting in evildoers hands in general. Maybe if it is turned off, you would play a song, but no effect would come from it, rendering it useless. If this is true, the ocarina of time is clearly fully functional in the era of the ocarina of time game. Also, i just thought of this, but assuming the turning the ocarina of time off and on thing is true, it is very possible certain eras in history found this ocarina, and did not have any knowledge of what it did, and maybe had certain ancient writings of songs for it that could be used to manipulate the world as we know it, but tried to play it, and discovered it did nothing. Likely without the knowledge of turning it off and on, this era would have no use for it, and would think and feel that it's ancient power was lost or got destroyed somehow. People have this radical theory about breath of the wild being a convergence timeline. How did the timelines converge then? I truly feel the ocarina of time is going to reveal itself possibly in the breath of the wild sequel. It would make sense, assuming the timeline convergence theory is true, that the ocarina of time was played as the bridge to converging the timelines together again. That is just me though. There are so many possibilities that it is truly mindblowing. I am just curious what else the ocarina of time can do.

    I remember coming to this conclusion when I first completed Skyward Sword. It also makes sense as to why the time stones in Ocarina of Time share have that blue color. I also had this theory that the Temple of Time was made of Time Shift stones along with the Master Sword as we see in Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time the Master Sword being used to turn back or manipulate time. Twilight Princess when you return the Temple of Time to it's former state when you put the Master Sword back in the pedestal.

      @Draezeth 5 лет назад

      This! Exactly this!

    • @qunt100
      @qunt100 4 года назад

      I propose that this is the ocarina of time, and minish cap link just doesn't know it. legends often get warped twisted and retold over the years, and often times, parts of history are also lost. We really don't know when the ocarina of time was made exactly, but it does have the ability to control time, which just opens infinite possibilites really. Maybe this era in the minish cap, the history regarding the ocarinas ability to control and warp time was lost, and that it was just some ocarina that some dude found, that seemed to have a very peculiar yet strange effect when he played that song on the ocarina. It summoned a windy thingy and a bird and warped him across the map, thus having this dude calling it the ocarina of winds, and with that, the ancient wind tribe followed suit as well, becoming known as the tribe of winds. Like i said, it is a stretch, but the skyward sword era thrived on a bird like status, flying all around as well. Maybe when link received the ocarina in minish cap also, all of the ocarina of times history was lost, and no one really knew the power it possesed, if any at all. It seemed to respond to the windy song that summoned a bird to warp you to places though. We also don't know all of the ocarina of times properties either. It does however have the main ability to control time, as hinted at by the game of the same name. Another question i ponder is that the ocarina of time lines up suspiciously with the time shift stones in skyward sword. You can hit those stones to turn them on and off. Hitting them causes the finite time past thing to open, and hitting them again closes it, causing it to shift the finite space back to the present time. My question is, could the same thing be done to the ocarina of time, hitting it to turn it off and on again? I feel the ocarina of time itself is a more portable version of the timeshift stones themselves, magically crafted to be attuned to different specially crafted songs by the royal composers of hyrules royal family themselves. Each song when played is designed to do a different thing. Just to name a few, we have power over storms, power over time, power over night and day, the ability to summon horses at your beckoned call, the ability to warp you to different locations on the map. If the hitting the ocarina of time to turn it off and on is true, very likely it was lost to history, and that nature of the ocarinas power was lost by the time the ocarina of time game came out. It could have been a counter measure to prevent evil from possesing its full power. Possibly, if it was turned off, you could play a song on it, but it would have had no effect. In minish cap, maybe the windy bird song you play is perhaps one of the oldest song properties played on the ocarina of time, and had the ability to control wind at some point. Who the heck knows. There is a very popular theory regarding breath of the wild being a convergence timeline. How exactly did it converge? I feel the ocarina of time may have had something to do with it. I mean, the damn thing has the ability to control time itself at will, so maybe it was used in a certain way, converging the timelines back together.

    The OoT has to be far older than that considering that the temple of time protects the entrance to the sacred realm, and the pedestal of the master sword which can only be drawn by the chosen hero.

    The purpose of the ocarina makes sense within this theory. Supposing that the Hyrule Civil War is the war mentioned in TP (where everyone became so crazy in entering to the sacred realm) and the war that made the hero of time orphan. Makes sense that the royal family asked the sheikah a way to protect the entrance to the sacred realm. Not only by the sacred stones but also with an instrument that, in case some more Interlopers got inside the realm, had time travel properties to revert that.

    Your research is fantastic! The actual words from Sharp and Flatt are extremely convincing! I also suspected the timeshift stones, but I personally have a different theory. All due respect, if the Composer brothers were born a long time ago, ( a really long time ago) then they may not have lived in the same century as Ganondorf! Now there's no actual dated timeline, so at this point it's tricky. Looking at the Lanyru Facility, I'd agree that the Sheikah were experimenting with time travel and that their research finally led to Ocarina. I think that the Ancient Sages, who were probably Sheikah and who built the temple of time to protect the Master'sword after mankind repopulated the earth, also created the Ocarina. One way or another, I really enjoyed your video, MaskedNintendoBandit.

    If its ancient it could also explain why link's fairy friend knew a song since she doesn't age and she had experience with hearing/using one before, maybe the song experiments could be a reason why the fairy people don't age? Or its just a musical instrument she knows how to play. but either way thats some food for thought if you wanna think about it

    If the legends say that an ocarina is needed to access the Master Sword, it has to be ancient.
    With Sharp and Flat dying only a couple year after Ganondorf was born and conducting study on time manipulation by using ocarina, their theory wouldn't be made into a legend Zelda spoke of.
    It would seem that Sheikah knew some things about time manipulation and, by extension, teleportation but their technology was lost too time (again).
    Just music in itself is a powerful tool in OoT and MM, so maybe the brothers got their hands on the Ocarina held by the royal family made by the Sheikah from the time-shift stone and once they pledged their allegiance and the result of their study was the song itself.
    But that raises a question: was the Sacred Realm complete inaccessible until they rediscovered the song? The spiritual songs are also keys to the Door of Time but without the Song of Time, the doors won't budge. So does it mean that the Composer Brothers can be hold responsible for giving Ganondorf a chance to access the Sacred Realm? In the end Link led him there but was the song never discovered, Ganondorf wouldn't have been able to gain a Triforce of Power.
    So the easier conclusion is that the Song of Time was a another secret of the Royal family, the brothers learned about it once they started working with them and they wanted to learn more about music manipulation, like speeding up or slowing down time we see in MM, but their knowledge about this was never passed down in the OoT's Hyrule because of Ganondorf (only their Sun Song was left noted on their grave).

    the fact they specifically used ocarinas as the instrument, something we can theoritically say isnt needed due to links form changes in majora's, id say the ocarina itself is much older. though it does fit that ganondorf hearing of their research would spark his interest since they would have to have access to it to do research on it.

    I always though that the Ocarina of Time is made of Time Shift Stones crafted by Hylia or a Zelda after Skyward Sword. Or in your case the Sheikah.
    After the Ocarina was created, Hylia or Zelda blessed the Ocarina with magic and made it a key item to open the Door of Time alongside the Spiritual Stones (which could be essences of the Dragons of Skyward Sword).

    im pretty convinced that there are a group of Sheikah scientists like in the Ancient Tech Labs from BotW, and after BotW2 uncovers a bunch of long-dormant ancient stuff, the Sheikah scientists finds some timeshift stone, and use it to try and 'defeat ganon once and for all' by going back in time, and forward in time, spreading their tech and knowledge in bits and pieces all over the timeline and leaving tools for the Hero in any timelines they detect heavy Ganon activity.

    this actually explains why it could open the door of time which was basically made to never open, the sacred stones weren't really keys more like door jams and so if someone opened the door it would immediately close again, at least that is my theory, without the stones in place to hold it open. The song of time just like with broken signs pieces reuniting, returns the door to their original state of open.

    11 months (almost a year) late, guess I better leave my own theory:
    I think that in the events after SS, The royal family got an ocarina made out of the timeshift stones as an heirloom, years later after the temple of time is constructed, Rauru asks for the Ocarina, putting a certain type of magic on the ocarina of time to help unlock the temple of time's doors, he probably asked for hoping that the ocarina would be knowingly safe in the hands of the royal family, and by the time the alternate version of events happen (thus causing the downfall timeline, after OOT), the magic inside the ocarina wears off, leaving it as another regular ocarina.

    I would say since the ocarina is a key to the sacred realm it was made around the time Rauru constructed the temple of time. And the reason for it being made was due to the interlopers (twili) trying to invade the sacred realm.

    A interesting game that could subvert our expectations Nintendo could do for Legend of Zelda would be a Kotor 2 type of theme with a antagonist that is like Kreia mysterious but wise but also not foolish and sees the hypocrisy of the gods and sees that Link and Zelda are trapped in a endless cycle of reincarnation and death a fate that was imposed upon them without choice.
    A morale philosophy kind of plot.

    I doubt that the Ocarina, used as a sacred seal alongside the Spiritual Stones as the Spiritual Stone of Hyrule used to command the other three, was crafted or even completed in Ganondorf’s lifetime. Even if we allow potentially inhuman longevity to both Ganondorf and the Sheikah, it is said that a male Gerudo is born every 100 years. I highly doubt that something considered so ancient and deeply intertwined with Hyrule’s history is 100 years old or less.
    Otherwise, yes, makes perfect sense that a Sheikah or group of Sheikah crafted the Ocarina by weaving further magic into a finely crafted Timeshift Stone ocarina. It does seem to be the Sacred Stone of the Hyrulean people, which doubles as an instrument to command the powers of the other stones, the Temple of Time and the Sages’ Temples, and time itself.

      Most instruments are made out of metal and wood. Drums sometimes are covered in hide. Ocarina, however, were known to be made out of ceramic and even certain stones, such as soapstone. Modern glass ocarina have been made as well. Crystal for this instrument isn't a stretch.

    It is possible Ganon did know about the ocarina because he intended for link to open the door in the temple of time so he can access the triforce. I think he just underestimated the child.

  • @Meatonmytaco
    @Meatonmytaco 4 года назад

    That would also mean that the link who defeated ganon would then have been able to alter events in time and eventually, in defeating ganon and working with the ghosts and such, pass on and help build up a world where sheika tech thrives, thus making the tablet and Link's body being preserved in suspended animation make perfect sense.
    That very well could be the one and same hero of time from Ocarina, using his ability to reset and manipulate the flow of time to live infinitely and create a more peaceful and lush world like eventually is in BOTW.
    This is dopeness. :3

    The composer brothers making the ocarina in modern day does not inherently conflict with its position in ancient myths. Ocarinas in general can be made to manipulate time (according to previously existing knowledge that inspired the composer brothers’ research). So it’s likely the Ocarina of Time is just one of many ocarinas of time, the most recent incarnation made by the composer brothers trying to replicate the more ancient predecessor that was linked to the door of time and referenced in legend. Or, it’s even possible that it’s the same ocarina that was sent back in time to inspire the ancient legends that would eventually inspire its own creation. This would make it a bootstrap paradox of course, but we see from the Song of Storms in OOT that this is not impossible in the Zelda universe.
